  • Hi. In this video I take an early morning drive in Umhlanga Rocks. It is a coastal town in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa.
Originally, it was primarily made up the holiday resorts along the shoreline (see Lagoon Drive in the video) and the residential homes located to the south along the coast and inland.
Umhlanga is located about 20 minutes drive north of Durban City (which is where the main commercial port is located).
A number of businesses moved from Durban to Umhlanga over the past 10 years and now have impressive offices in an area called Umhlanga Ridge.
In this video, I drive in a southerly direction on the M4 highway and take a left onto Lighthous Road towards the holiday resorts and apartments. I drive to the end of Lagoon Drive and then back to Lighhouse Road.
I then cross the M4 and drive up to Umhlanga Ridge.
I do a few loops there (there's a part with fever trees lining the road which I liked very much) before returning to Umhlanga Rocks Drive and that is where this video ends.
I hope you you enjoy the drive. If so, please be sure to click the like button, and consider subscribing if you would like to see more of the videos I make in the future.
    Thanks,
    Paul.

Paul, Thank you for this video. I came to live in Umhlanga Rocks in 1977 with my parents. We bought a flat in Cordoba flats on Marine Drive. My folks lived in & around Umhlanga until they died in 1999. I left SA for the UK in 1993. I can just about make out some of the buildings along your journey, Oyster Box hotel (our Mecca) & also the Beverley Hills hotel. My folks eventually lived in Villa Pax (next to the Oyster Box). I am slightly overwhelmed by how much it has all changed & grown over the years. I'm 68 now. Please make more of these. It's almost like going home for me. Thanks once again.

Thank you so much for this! Umhlanga really rocks! The place is absolutely beautiful. I can’t believe mainstream media didn’t show us that South Africa was a first world destination. It’s right at the top of my list of places to visit 💯

Thank you for your comment. Umhlanga for the warm ocean and Cape Town for its beauty, if you ask me.

Nonsense , they arrive on taxis and buses. Luckily , they’ve got jobs.
Don’t read into something if you don’t know. Look at your own country

This is a documentary. Apart from the intro, it is un-edited. What you see is what’s there.
