Haven't finished the video yet, but big tip never plug a welder into a power strip, extension cord, etc... Always goes straight into wall outlet.
Well, he does mention that he is "by no means a welder".
I found that funny considering he's making a video about forge welding.
I know that the only relatives between them is pretty much heat and making different pieces of metals become one (Pretty sure that's the literal definition of welding)
I think lots of people believe welding to be too complicated, especially with how common it is to hear from a "professional" that it's not.

I have a problem that I don't know how to solve. I use a coal forge and because of this I can’t properly monitor the temperature of the workpiece, because it is in the coals. When I want to do forge welding, my workpiece either melts into liquid metal or I don’t heat it enough and it oxidizes.
Make a gas forge. We’re in modern times use modern tools.
@@Forgeymcforgeface Because of the war, it is cheaper and more affordable for me to use coal, so I can't switch to gas yet.

Make a new forge..... but make it with a better way of regulating air in put / in take. . . With time and perseverance with trying different methods full...Air intake..... small things but I'm guessing will help if you haven't already.
How are you going to have a pattern if you hammer the layers flat like that? Seems u should flip it after setting the welds am I wrong?

I don't think the saw blade is hardenable steel.that is a very low count of stacks not considered Damascus.
@@chuckr786 well the saw blade has written on it that is hardenable if you looked hard enough at the beginning of the video........ I’ve made countless knives with them and they all retain edges before. And yes I know Damascus is at least 100 layers. But there is this little thing called click bait

forge welding is great but since you didnt start with a crucible plug you didnt make damascus. pattern welded knife is what you made

The teeth on saw blade is what is hardenable. I have done the quench test on saw blades failed completely and as of click bait I have never heard of. That being said saw blades and a low count stack would be a horrible choice for a knife . Especially if you are doing fake Damascus.
No the teeth are carbide, and it says right on the blade hardened body. 0:10 Look bud the knives are done they both are wicked. And the both are hard af
