Full disclosure - some bags are provided by the company to me for purposes of a review. I NEVER get paid by these companies and NEVER promise a positive review to these companies. My reviews are always simple and honest. #EDC #review #fashion
I bought one and loved it. My son, who is a roadie was in need of a bag. So I gave him the bag, a CAP 1 & 2 and then I bought the exact same rig again.
I love it and he loves it. I use the CPL 24 as a gear bag and the 26 for work travel. Great system.
I appreciate the absence of an intro cliffhanger that evolves into dramatic music and a cutscene with a montage of clips lol. Also like the 1-take approach. Great review.
Thanks!!!
I have a 2023 version black. But you have the best bag out there in that color.
I have the 28L. Solution dyed black. I love it!
I bet that looks cool!
Nice review, I'm currently waiting on a black one to be delivered. Originally I purchased the same green xpac as you but I wasn't sure if I was going to like the rigidity of the material so I went with the standard version.
There's something about the quality and design of evergoods. For me it seems worth the price as well.
It’s such a great design. They’ve landed on something special.
I was able to buy the same complete set including hi-vis patch set for 500$, cheaper then official price, still I think it is quite expensive, but build quality, functionality and overall finish in xpac olive is top notch
Yeah - it ain’t cheap…but man is it a joy.
Hi, perfect review, thank you a lot. I am considering this backpack a lot and watching videos all day all night :D May I ask what are your next 4 backpack in top 5?
Oh goodness. Check out my playlist for top bags - you’ll see some of my favorites!!! I did a top laptop backpack video and also a top bags of 2023 video. I’ll update that laptop backpack video soon.
Awesome video! What kind of paracord did you use for the side and top handles? Do you know where I can learn how to tie that sort of braid? Thanks!
From Amazon - amzn.to/3sJPgNJ lots of how to videos on UA-cam!
I really like the patch on your backpack. Looks very unique! May I know where you get the patch from ?
I had that made from a custom maker on Amazon. Let me find the link.
Custom Decorative Patches, Personalized Morale Patches, Any Size and Shape Up to 10x10 Inches As Same Price, for Use On Backpacks Caps Jackets Uniforms, Hook Loop Fastener, Sew on, Iron on a.co/d/94tvesH
@@ThePerfectBag Thanks for the info. I will have a look on the custom design service. You had a great design with your patch!
How do you put the orange cord on your backpack, and what type of cord do you use? It's very cool customization. Spoiler, I might do the same thing.
That’s just orange paracord that you can buy off amazon for cheap. There’s a LOT of videos on UA-cam about paracord wrapped bag handles or knife handles. Check those out and prepare to learn through trial and error!
For me the aer City pack was great but the internal materials felt super cheap. Right now I have the alpaka elements Pro and I'm not that happy with it 100% ... so I'm looking to make a change should I make the jump?
This will feel much more premium to you. At least that’s my take. Be aware that some folks don’t like how this pack feels on their back.
Would you consider this one of the best bags for work/laptop/edc, a few days travel 3-4, and maybe an occasional hike? If not, what do you think ticks that box?
Yes. This is one of the best. It does everything well.
I have the standard version of this. I think what it does well is it makes the best series of compromises that you can expect for a laptop bag. Is it as breathable and weight bearing as a trampoline hiking back with a fancy frame? No, but it is breathable with a good carry system, and work appropriate. Is it as bombproof as a military gear pack? No, but it's lighter, uses much higher quality hardware and fabrics than an average day back. Does it have as much organization as a dedicated work laptop bag? No, but it has some and is done in a way that flexes well to weekend packing. Plus, it has BETTER laptop protection than 90% of bags out there.
@@ThePerfectBag what’s the camo bag that looks like aus camo and orange lower?
That's a chrome HONDO in duck camo, I bet you can find one used, but they don't sell that model/color anymore.@@michaeljake7031
After you said it was your 4th favorite bag, I now wish you would do a top bags video. Trying to move toward one bag travel, but trying to find a good underseat bag.
Thank you for including the try on at the end. How tall are you? :D
I'm 6'2". I do have a top 10 bags video for laptop backpacks....but I will update in Fall.
@@ThePerfectBagLooking forward to the update! I believe I may have watched that video, but I'll go check it out again.
Thanks for the nice video. Just want to get your opinion on the fabrics between burnt orange one and the XPac one. How different are they ?
Pretty different! I prefer XPAC to cordura - but only because I’m a dog owner and XPAC does a lot better for me with not attracting Australian shepherd hair
I think the Aer pro pack might beat this
How do you sit now on cpl24 vs vanquest addax 25? I'm deciding between those two. I think I ruled out aer City pack pro. I ride a bike to work every day so harness set up is more important than it would be for someone who's just house to car to office etc.
And I'm upgrading from a Jansport hatchet. That bag isn't all that great riding a bike when there's a laptop plus other normal stuff
Well I love the organization and inner pocket materials on the vanquest….but the CPL24 is MUCH more comfortable and better materials overall.
If I was walking for any length of time (or cycling) I’d go evergoods over vanquest…but if I was just wandering around an office and coffee shop and to and from my car, I might still pick Vanquest….but I just happen to be a dork who loves the actual usability of that addax25
Thanks man! I bought both and will return one. I'm leaning pretty hard evergoods because it's a bag I'll commute 10 miles on bike each day with. But I like the layout of the vanquest and aer City pack pro a lot especially the laptop compartment.
How would compare this bag to a TBB conceal 21 with the fatigue xpac? Price-quality-comfort-organisation wise?
I was very close in buying this bag but the only think that stopped me from doing was the zipper for left swingers. Btw, where did you find the patch on the front? I am from Belgium and I am really stoked with this!
Oh cool! Honestly I had the patch custom made. I found an amazon or Etsy person who lets you just send them an image and they make it. I like this bag a little better than the TBB - only because of comfort. The back panel on this makes all the difference. I think also they might make a mirror version of this that flips the zipper to other side.
@@ThePerfectBagEvergoods backpanels are one of, if not, the best out there!
Would be perfect if they integrated the bellroy venture ready quick access pocket into it
What reason would you say would make this better than an AON whitley besides the size?
Whitley has a bottle holder and it looks almost similar in functions.
is it material, design, etc?
Very different bags to me. The Whitley (I haven't had hands on time with the updated version) - is much smaller feeling and a tighter carry with more specific organization. This bag feels larger, floofier, has straps I like more and the quick access pocket is absolutely killer. Hope that makes sense. I like both bags - this one has more utility for me.
@@ThePerfectBag Thank you for your feedback. Will subscribe 🙂.
Welcome!
Another awesome review. Hoping to have an EG pack in my hands soon 👀
Just did the 5000 sub drawing - it’s up as a short on the channel now!
CPL24 is borderline endgame…. if you are ok with water bottle inside. For me I have hobbies more expensive than bags with one of kind no longer made items. One water bottle leak and all that is gone forever. Can’t take that chance. Gotta have an external bottle holder. Never compromise even in the face of oblivion.
Well said! It’s the dealbreaker and pushes a lot of people to the CTB instead of the CPL
What is the CTB?
@@crudololcivic travel bag
Me reading this comment as i look over at my olive axiom24 with much better use and looks🤷🏻♂️. But it is a good bag, not saying it isnt
Then just get a ctb26 and be done with it. I prefer my bottle accessible but hidden. Axiom24 :)
Can you fit 2 15” laptops in the laptop compartment?😊
Absolutely! I’m carrying an iPad and a laptop and no issues - two laptops would also work fine
Thank you for the quick response! I have a 15” MacBook Pro and a 15” extra monitor and it’s kinda a pain with traditional packs having an external and internal slot. Fingers crossed this will be the one 😅
What is the tan canvas looking pack with brown straps on the wall to the right of the video? Looks nice, I've seen it in other videos but I cant find the specific video for that one, if you have a video for it let me know, or if not, just the name of it if possible when you get a chance please.
Hi! You’ll not love this answer…but that bag is a Jansport Watchtower… I think it’s the best bag Jansport ever made. But they don’t make it anymore. When you look on the secondhand market, you can find them, but not consistently. Beware thought because for a year they made a 2nd generation watchtower that kinda loooks like this but isn’t as good. So…like I said…you’ll be hunting for this one.
I hate external bottle pockets - they ruin the look of the bag and aren’t really practical. I have a number of leak proof bottles that work perfectly inside the bag.
Lacking side water bottle placement for such a very high price is a fail. It’s 101 on any backpack to have one for easy access
And i hate them, now what? CTB has your wishes covered.
Are the cpl24 and cpl28 the exact same except one is a bit larger?
yes sir, that's my understanding - just a difference in dimensions, but same bag.
Yes
Love all of it
What is your number 1 edc bag???
Backpack?
Or slings/satchels included?
IS THIS BAG BIGGER THEN THE AER CITY PACK PRO 24L?? ????
Technically speaking no - they are the same volume - but practically speaking, this feels a bit bigger yes.
@@ThePerfectBag thnx
Where did you get the captain haddock patch?
I had it made from an image with a custom patch maker on Amazon - 2x2 size
@@ThePerfectBag would you be able to the link which company you used on Amazon? The quality looks really good. Thanks!
I want this bag. Badly. But I agree with your first review. It's not made in America. It's not organizationally focused. The accessories are astronomical in price. In the words of Flossy Carter, "The price is tgh. It's too gyadamn high."
My guess would be that they make several hundred dollars for every bag they sell.
Which is of course their right. But that doesn't mean I have to like it, or that I can't voice that.
And I'm sure I'll be salty when I do actually end up buying one. Because I know I will. But two things can be true at the same time.
Great video as always. I was sooooo close to pulling the trigger on this bag because I'm an xpac snob now. The curdura just won't do. 😂😂😂
It probably is still too much money - but I can’t lie - I paid it gladly
most of the products are physically not mare in US, even Apple products
@@kris6994 true. And apple doesn't charge hundreds of dollars more for an iPhone compared to a samsung galaxy. That's literally my point. If apple charged a proportional amount more, for a phone or computer to the difference between say aer and evergoods, apple products would be several hundred dollars more than an equivalent device from another company.
And apple (though I am a samsung user personally) can lay claim to better features in terms of energy usage and processor power. The same can't be said of evergoods compared to any other upper tier bag. Same cordura. Same xpac. Same ykk zips. Same quality of stitching.
The backplate and harness system could be talked about. Sure. But many bags at lower cost points have great backplates and harnesses.
Like I said, I think they're cool bags and I want one. That doesn't mean I have to cosign their inflated profit margin. I can buy the bag, love it, AND hate the price. I'm allowed.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@@scarletNbloom True, at the end, the price will not drop as long as there is demand on the market ;)
@@kris6994 agreed for sure. And I'm a part of the problem, cuz my butt will be getting one when the combination of funds and an xpac release align.
😂😂😂
I like the bag . It’s not available from Evergoods . I wish it had a luggage strap . Or a luggage pass through.
Civic Travel Bag 26?
Does this dig into your back at all like V2?
I do not have that problem….I’m 6’2” and this fits my torso pretty perfectly
Do you prefer this over the Aer CPP?
Yes. But it feels a lot bigger - even though it isn’t that much bigger. Not sure what about it, but it feels more travel baggish than the CPP
From short person (5’6”) with short torso (17”), yes, it digs. Ditto for CHZ…shame, love the aesthetic…
You'll forgive me but this sounds like someone reached out to you and kinda had you backtracking for all the reasons we know all product reviewers do that from time to time, please correct me if i'm wrong
Bag is still a good bag nontheless
You are indeed wrong. Nobody reached out to me, and I bought the bag myself.
@@ThePerfectBag well then I am, I still think you’re one of the good ones and I still do like the bag, do you plan on getting a griffin one?
I’m $400 poorer, and I have a tan one. I’m deciding which to keep…I’m not keeping both. I have the olive and the griffin now. And by the way, no offense taken, this is the internet and you should be wary of all online reviews. That being said - with me you’re not going to get someone who is a shill for companies - but you are going to get strong preferences and favorites…like I’m obsessed with Greenroom 136 as an example…and I’m a sucker for CTactical’s value proposition. I promise to still say somthing sucks if it sucks though.
@@ThePerfectBag I was late to the party and got stuck with a black canvas instead of a tan one, oh well I still think it’s nice, don’t have many black bags
@@ThePerfectBag you know there’s no videos of that particular bag so if you’d like to make one… for us who didn’t get one yet and might still want to cancel the preorder
That’s the great thing about bags. They usually take you back 🥲
