The multi-module allows your transmitter to control many rc models since it supports pretty much all the protocols used in the RC hobby today. Helicopters, quadcopters, drones, even cars from brands like Syma, FlySky, HiSky, eFlite, etc. It'll even speak the popular DSMX and DSM2 protocols from Spektrum. More support for protocols are added all the time!
This new 4in1 Multimodule from BG has an STM32 microcontroller (MCU) that interfaces with the CC2500, NRF24L01, A7105 and CYRF6936 RF modules instead of the previous multimodule that uses an ATmega328 MP. The Atmega 328P had limited memory at 32KB so not all the protocols could be compiled in. This version by iRangeX uses a STM32 microcontroller and has enough memory to store the firmware with all the protocols. It works with most popular radios that have firmware with native support like OpenTX. FrSky 9XD/QX7 or Turnigy 9XR are popular transmitters that work really well with it.

Thanks for this video. It helped me figure out the process I needed to use to bind my new UMX Radian to my new Taranis QX7. I needed to update the X7 to use the multi protocol settings within the model settings.

Just thought it was worth the mention that MCU won't make any difference in serial mode (such as the way this one runs) The only thing the MCU does in this mode is turn on the correct chip for whatever protocol your radio will be using. The protocols are all handled and generated by the radio at this point. New protocols added to OpenTX will work since they just tell the module to activate the radio chip they need for the protocol they'll be generating.
The + model of this unit is designed to work in either serial mode or PPM mode. In PPM mode all protocols are handled and generated by the MCU and this IS where the stm32 makes the difference.
I hav modded several DEVO7E with a 4in1 module (this same module on a smaller carrier board with no STM32) and all that's needed is to hook up serial communication (MOSI,MISO,CLK,GND)and the CE lines for the 4 TX chips. The radio generates all protocols.

kenVersus you seem to know a whole lot. Question for you about this module, can I fly my blade inductrix with it? Is the module limited to only 4 channels? Or can I still fly my dsmx/2 tiny whoop newbeedrone fc just like I was still using my Spektrum radio? Impressive I am in
mine bound but motors didn't engage. max throttle, and motors would spin at max. reverse the throttle, and motors spin max. mine worked by bringing both sticks out simultaneously. i have to rebind it when i stop the motors. bummer.

I set my transmitter and the firmware update for AETR and the transmitter is on mode 2, but when programming a model my inputs show thr ail ele rud. Then when bound the throttle is on the right

Hello I just purchased a taranis QX7 and a jumper 4in1 multiprotocol module because I ha e a Hubsan h123d and a h122d. I cannot get the transmitter, the module to bind with my quads. Can you pls help me?

Great stuff as always !! I recently got a Taranis X7Q Great Radio for sure and a new IRange Module. . I wanted to bind my 2 Cell Whoops and other brushless quads. All went well started with V2.22 on transmitter. Only problem is with the Bugs Quads. When I select the Bugs or Bugs Mini prot. they read "prot. invalid" So I upgraded to V2.23 both SD card and Radio - Same thing. Any Ideas what might be the problem???

You may need to update the firmware on the multi module itself. Its not for the faint of heart but I do have a video and I'm sure others on UA-cam as well.

Nice tut! I'm trying to use this module in a qx7 with spektrum dsm. Binds however the channel order is wrong. If I set TAER still wrong? I would think this would be defined in the model setup??
Just leave it at AETR. The module converts to Taer.

+Claudio Latino you have to search what protocol it uses. I don't have that quad so I wouldn't know. The older cx10 works. Not sure about cx10wd.

I have managed to bind with my Eachine E10 without a problem but am having difficulty getting the multi-protocol module to bind with the Flysky version of the Eachine QX70 quad and can also not bind with the the Eachine iA6 receiver on my Falcon 250 Pro (same as the flysky iA6). I think the real issue may be that I do not know which mode and sub-type to select on the Taranis XQ7. Any advice?
+Ingmar Boesenberg try to use the FS2A protocol. It's a separate protocol and not a sub-type.
Hi Ken Versus. Just tried it. FS2A does not work on the QX70. Will try the Falcon 250 PRO tomorrow. The Flysky i6 transmitter runs AFHDS on the EQ70 and AFHDS2A on the Falcon 250 PRO. Not sure whether this will make a difference?

Everyone selling these modules tells us they cover just about EVERY Chinese quadcopter, but I've found nothing for the Xiaomi, Bayungtoys, Bugs 2, 3. 6 and 9. Cheerson, Visuo Aosenma and many other quads I own. Are these models likely to be catered for or is the "EVERY" just a Sales Pitch.
The 4in1 works with most of the popular protocols. However, the quad makers like to change up what protocols to use. Eachine e010 works. But Eachine e013 they use something different. It's puzzling why they would do that. Hopefully with the 4in1 modules, manufacturers will stick to the hundreds of already supported and understood protocols. Syma typically plays ball and don't change things up. Remember that the devs who work on decoding these protocols do it in their spare time. We'll get there one day when all protocols are decoded. It takes time.
I didn't hear/see the DSMX. Ultimately, I would like to know is; Will I be able to use this with in my 9Xr Pro to control my Spektrum and Lemon equipped quadcopters. I currently use the later HobbyKing Orange Module. Thanks.
+VD2021 I've used it with the makerfire fpv quad and it uses dsmx/2. see my makerfire video. make sure you have the latest firmware for your transmitter and 4in1 module.

How do you fix the inputs (AETR) because once mines it binds to the e010 it just at full throttle meaning the right stick is controlling trottle while in mode 2?
+William Ruiz you can change the order manual for each model. Just reorder it in the mixer screen.
Why dont they just put a slot so you can put a memory card in it. Even if its only 1MB that should be enough
I watch the makerfire video and ordered the module. I have an issue when trying to update my 9xrPro. I followed your video loading the fw to an sd card, however it does not show up on the screen when I power on to bootloader. Any suggestions? I wanted to update my transmitter so I'm set when the module arrives.

Whats the difference between opentx and deviationtx? It looks like you can bind to the mjx bugs quads if you use deviation. How can I bind to the mjx bugs with a multi module in a taranis qx7 running opentx? Thanks a million.
They're just different software. Both are capable. However I'm not sure about the mjx bug since I don't have it. But I do see mjxq protocol supported. Best to verify online if it works.
Thanks again for the video. Module arrived yesterday. Popped it into the back of my xr9pro, bond and burned a pack in one of my spektrum sat equipped quads. I noticed that I can't get the gimbal resolution I get with the orange module (viewing the rx page in bf). Every channel is yields around 1100ish to 1900ish. I upped the weights to 125. The throttle channel is m primary concur. Is there a solution?
+VD2021 you're using betaflight? I think I recall that as well for my makerfire fpv that uses dsm2. I wasn't able to figure that out either. there may be some configuration in the 4in1 firmware that can be edited if you compile your own firmware. ask people on the rcgroups forum to see if they have any leads.
So because Im new chances this is a stupid question ...But If I have a flysky Qx5 I can use this module to bind it with my x7?
It should work.... Since it supports flysky protocol but I don't own the qx5 so won't have experience with it.

Can I use this with my JR-3810, with simple plug and play by swapping out my 2.4 module with the iRange module. With no changes to the existing 3810 firmware ?
+David Clarke not this module. But it might work with the other 4in1 with ATMEGA328p chip which works in PPM mode. check out my older video about it.

I got it bound and I got the controls adjusted, but now when it binds, the leds shut off...
+Gregory Segura I think if you make a ch5 in the mixer and assign it to a switch you can control the lights. It can be done but I never bothered with it.

+DroneXFun make sure you download the latest sd card contents along with OpenTx. It has to match or you'll get that error.

After installing this module and turning on the external module and protocol selection (FS 2A -Flysky 2a) in menu of Taranis X7 suddenly disappeared line - FAILSAFE!!

Looking for opinions...like many people entering the hobby I initially bought the Flysky FS-i6 TX and it has served me well up until this point. Would this module be a viable solution for someone with multiple quads with Flysky RX's to be able to transition to a Taranis? My thinking is this would allow me to upgrade my TX without having to swap out all of my current RX's? Thoughts please?
Edit - apparently this module doesn't have the same range as a standalone TX and I guess that answers my question. Pity because it seemed like this would be an easy solution without having to swap RX's.
+tonyh2k2 the 4in1 is great for indoor or toy shirt range quads. A dedicated flysky module is probably best for your case. A flysky module is around $15-$20 so would make a good addition to the taranis. The 4in1 is still nice to have to fly every thing you might run into.
Does BG sell the appropriate Flysky module?

hey I updated my sd card to the latest content. now when i start my qx7 it always shows "sd card warning, expected version 9"... is that normal? the latest content is 10 as of today

I would suggest people not purchase this from banggood. I purchased one for my taranis qx7 because the concept is fantastic. Unfortunately like many others, it has constant and random dropouts. I contacted banggood and they just replied that it was not covered by warranty. I attempted to contact I range multiple times but they will not reply. Finally I ended up going to buy an orange module

It supports Frsky D16 protocol so sure. But I don't have direct experience with it. The latest module is the iRangeX IRX4 Plus.

I'm familiar with er9x and it's easy but this Q7,?? my 9xr-pro says the name of each model when I select them, I want to do the same on the Q7
+chris gange hi. In the sound\en\ folder. You have to create another folder with the same name as the model and put a name.wav in there. Eg \sound\en\symax5

+chris gange you don’t assign them. As long as your model name is the same as the folder it should play the wav when it gets loaded.
But it doesn't , that's the problem, putting the name.wav in the named folder does nothing!

+larry kabo typically the 4in1 range won't be as good as a dedicated modules for one protocol.
TO KENVERSUS: Tried to flash 2.2 opentx on 9xr pro eeprom error and goes back to base txpro firmware, reflashed to my last download turnigy firmware and back to normal (no Models) redowned loaded 2.2 same thing, also replaced all directories on sd card with proper for 2.2 xrpro cept firmware directory, had to flash from sd card (firmware dir) as companion software on pc crapped out on 9xrpro. I've tried to google this can seem to find solution.
Ignore, this, the eeprom error is to be ignored, I just needed to not believe the error and move on, it's running opentx fine.
Just what I'm looking for - will be buying a Taranis next week at the Radley Hall model aircraft show - can you please confirm it is compatible with Spektrum 'Model Match' and how many DSM2/DSMX channels does it support( or is it only DSM2) ...joe
+Joe Stubbs it should work with dsmx and dsm2. It can support more than 4 channels. You can see me bind to Makerfire FPV in another video which uses DSM.

+Ronn2664 there are lots of different versions of the x4. So you have to choose the right protocol for that model. That's all I can think of
kenVersus I chose multi then hubsan on external with internal off. I think I selected it right. It binds and my hubsan with solid lights but motors won't turn on stick inputs. Thanks anyway Ken. Appreciate the response.
when i transferred the fw file into the firmware folder mine appear just as FILE. yours appeared as bin FILE. is that ok?

Hi, I'm new to quad's and I'm just putting together pieces together that have yet to arrive. I ordered a Taranis QX7 but the quad I ordered a Wizard X220S has either a iRangeX iR-A8S / Flysky FS-A8S receiver that comes built in. I'm not too familiar with what I need but I was told that the QX7 would not be able to communicate with those receivers and I would either need a new receiver like an FrSky D8R-II PLUS 2.4Ghz 8CH Receiver or could I use this module to get it to work?
If so would you suggest that as the best option or just to replace the receiver?

+Snafu2346 I would probably get the FRsky RX's. They will provide better range then the 4in1. But the 4in1 is still nice to have for smaller or indoor quads or for testing.
Understood, there was mention from UAV features about the Taranis QX7 review that mentioned about using a module to fly little quads indoors, I wasn't sure if it worked well for outdoor medium to long distance use or not.
This is all very new to me and I appreciate you giving me feedback. I can look at the recievers for FrSky controllers, some don't look too expensive, one I saw was only 15 dollars. Are receivers simply plug and play? Would I simply just removed the old one by unplugging it and plugging in the new one? Or is further modifications I need to do to ensure proper usability?

+Snafu2346 I believe the x220 runs cleanflight or betaflight so you have to reconfigure it using cleanflight/betaflight configurator. It's pretty advanced stuff so watch some tutorials. You have to set flight modes and arming / disarming. Lots of stuff to learn but it'll be fun!
There is a lot to learn but I suppose that's part of the hobby. There was a lot to learn when I built my own computer but I found it fun. There was a lot to learn installing my own turbo but it was a lot of fun, and a lot of misery. I think this will be easier than that. At least I hope so. I have some basic hand tools and a solder gun I've never used that came with the tool chest.
I think what I'll do at first is just enjoy the RTF X220S and just use the Flysky that comes with it for the time being. It'll work right out of the box and I can just start flying.
As time goes by I can get more familiar with my QX7 and and keep watching and learning on what I need to do and eventually install the right receiver to get it to work. All within its own time.
Eventually I want to build my own completely from scratch but I'd like to get familiar with one first and I'll probably take it apart, and put it together again to see how things are set up.
is the range good enough for racing drones?
+Ronn2664 I would say not. The 4in1 is great for toy indoor rc stuff. For racing, dedicated single protocol modules.

Great video. Do you know if this works with the Bayangtoys X16W? The last 4 in 1 worked with the X16, but not the X16W. The W version had a different protocol. Thanks
+Ron Eubanks I'm not sure. I don't have that quad. You'd have to find out what protocol it uses and see if it's supported in the firmware.
