I believe your two-minute introduction video featuring Ava Gardner, with a perfectly matched musical score, was all the review I needed for this fragrance. Well-done, as always, Lanier, and cheers to you my good Sir!
Thank you Mr Smith Ava Gardner and one of your reviews a perfect start to the weekend.. As a young fellow one of my first jobs was in construction in London .One day a group of us were working on a large house in the west end when Miss Gardner who lived there in her later years walked by on the other side of the street ,well one guy gave her a wolf whistle , she stopped looked up put her hands on her hips and shouted back "only one whistle there must be at least ten of you S O B,s there". Well we all leaned out the windows and all of us wolf whistled her."that,s better boys" she shouted gave us smile and a wave and went on her way. What a lovely lady she certainly broke the mould.
Adam you made my day with your wonderful comment. Ava was one of a kind and real down to earth. No pretense or phoniness about her. A great lady and a hell of a woman. Cheers.
@@laniersmith1798 Thanks Lanier she followed her own drumbeat for better or worse but god bless her i will always cherish me and my mates all to brief encounter with that wonderful lady.I think someone said of her many women can turn boys into men but she could turn men back into little boys , what a gal.kind regards.
I am glad to see this review and you. I hope all is well. Oh BTW I tagged you in a Four Fragrances for Life video (four seasons emphasis). Love to see your picks you classy gent.
What a gorgeous intro! I'm such a fan of Ava Gardner; quite a presence about her. I've yet to try anything from the house of Floris. This one sounds very elegant! A great review.
I love you channel and posts. My absolute favourite fragrance, so complex and facinating. Such a pity Floris London discontinued the blend. I love wearing it afternoons & evenings. My remaining bottle from Spencer Hart was almost run out, but I managed to purchase 3 100ml flasks = so have to make them last...
awesome job. This was one that impressed me. Floris is an under the radar house that does a great job creating personal scents for the classic gentleman. Must be a British thing. Cheers Lanier and thank you for directing me to this little treasure.
Hello & thank you for the wonderful review! Last week my husband and I ventured up to London & had a wonderful time sampling fragrances. We spent a long time in Floris & my husband bought Honey Oud for himself (but I have been wearing it too!). We also very much liked the ‘1988’ fragrance & I loved ‘ a rose for..’ myself! But I think my next purchase will be ‘Oud de nil’ from Penhalgons, we spent a very long time in there too! Our day was topped off with champagne in Fortnum’s (as they also have a beautiful perfume dept there..)! 🥂🥂
HoneyBeeBee Oh Honey I want to go shopping with You! Thank you for sharing that bit of a London afternoon with us. I could see it all so clearly. Cheers!!
Dear Lanier, Thanks for putting the spotlight on the house of Floris a quintessential English perfume house. I have not tried anything that I disliked from this house. Cheers
Hey! Long time no see babe, good to have you back. Floris? So classically and stylishly English so I love it, just love it. But do you know what's strange as I turn on my laptop and find you're video? I have just sprayed on a Floris after taking my shower, yep, it's 71/72 have you tried it? So elegant.
I enjoy this house , and thank you for your upload of when you got deals via their online sale. Floris does run specials like Jo Malone & Penhaligon's . I have yet to sample their Honey Oud . There's always something to look forward to in life isn't their Lanier.
Ava Gardner! I still recall as a child, and for many years as after as a teen and a young man, my Dad would swear that she was the most beautiful woman in the world, and ask me if I had ever seen her in "The Snows of Kilamanjaro." Memories.... And such a great sounding fragrance! The cloves and carnation opening would really grab me, and that combo of florals! All the better. Will surely check it out. Great review, happy weekend and thanks!
I love your channel keep up the good work! I if possible could you please do a review on the perfume by the name of champagne by Yves Saint Laurent. It's one of my favorites
I have not seen that film in years. I need to take another look at it. It really was magnificent, though I didn't like the end. It reduced the Contessa by turning her into a victim, though I suppose that was the mythology of that time. I would have preferred for her to have won! As always, a fabulous video review!
Did you know in the original screenplay the Count was written as a gay man who was having an affair with his chauffeur? He only married Maria Vargas to be his beard. Ava thought they should have kept it as written and Mankiewicz lamented later that the censorship of the 50's kept it from being even more powerful and tragic with the "Jake Barnes" war injury substituted for homosexuality. Cheers Daniel.
Of all the "godesses" of Hollywood...Ava Gardner has always been my #1 beauty. No one really matches here fine looks and her "way" to present herself..........no one can touch her in sensuous(ness) except for perhaps Rita Hayworth(my #2 ..who was a bit more overt)...of course if its just a face thing i can of course go w/ Elizabeth and Vivian Leigh..but thats really it ..no one now even comes close.

@@laniersmith1798 I did not know that. It would have been even better that way.
I have sampled a few and Floris is a nice house with steady offerings. Have you tried 'A Rose For...'?
No I have not tried A Rose For... rose is a hard note for me. But I should get a sample and try it anyway. thanks for the suggestion. Cheers.
