I'm sorry you had a bad experience with them. I have a black/white popup from them that I use sometimes but I would not buy anything else because their printed ones are terrible so I'm not surprised about the "hand painted" ones. I've been painting my own. Took a few mistakes and cost me money, but I'm good with the process now so it was worth it.
Best to paint your own. If you don't have the space, ask a friend to use their driveway. When you paint your own, use multiple layers of paint. 2 colors with 2 types of brushes.
They sort of fixed the problem by painting another one and sending it to me free of charge. I'll do a comparison at some point. I'm glad to find out that the printed ones are fine.
I have reached out to them and yes the customer service is good. Nothing bad to say about that. They've sent a replacement that is better but still not even close to how pros paint them.
I bought a double sided collapsible backdrop from them and it was awful, not nearly what they advertised. I complained, they sent me a new one, same thing... I ended up with getting a third one which was ALSO crap. Never again...
Kate Backdrops is a chinese company, no matter where they say they are located, it’s all chinese stuff of very poor quality, and the only reason why the backdrops look so awesome on their website, is because they steal images from professional photographers to scam clients. Same thing with Fox Backdrops, also chinese. These two companies are very controversial and constantly having troubles with they photographers they steal the images from. Sorry you had to go trough this, as I did long time ago. I ordered a custom backdrop of MY own design, which at some point, I found out they were selling on their website, without even asking. Never trust them.
Yeah.. We learned the hard way. At least they've tried to fix it by painting another one for free and shipped it to me. An improvement but still rubbish compared to the one I got from Slavomir at handpaintedbackdropsuk. I'll try to make a new review of the replacement. I just didn't have time for new videos
Thank you for the warning, and sorry that happened to you!

I would like to paint mine also but I do not have the space to do it unfortunately.

I haven’t tried their handpainted backdrops but I have had a very good experience with their printed backdrops and their service.

if you water down some chalk paint you can add a wash to some areas - good luck

Yeah. It seems that everyone has the same issue. Low quality products.
I ordered one too, it's so awful. It's see through, it's printed on cheap fabric, and I'd never recommend them.
Agree, very poorly made, doesn't look anything like the drop in the product page. It looks terrible, unusable.
Yikes!
I had heard good things, but I had no idea they came from China. (I don't wish to fund the CCP)
The real issue is that the quality of the backdrops isn't good enough. I guess you have to be lucky to get a good one.
