This was my first ultra and first Hardmoors, first signed up for the 55 in 2020 as a 40 birthday present but kept having to sell my slot for a variety of reasons. This year I convinced myself I wouldn't make a thing of it, not follow a specific program, just turn up and race if everything aligned. Well, it did align, and then I realised that not training anything long was daft. I'd only got up to 27km in training, but having done full distance triathlon thought 10-11hrs on my feet would be fine. A rude awakening was had around Scugdale after I got carried away running the long downhill hard, could feel my quads filling up with fluid and had the dreaded bouncing feeling in my muscles. Made it to the end but my sub-10 goal went out the window, as I finished in about 10:20. Got so bad towards the end with my legs that another runner had to pick my rubbish up off the floor for me as I couldn't bend over to pick it up :D Back next year it is though......
Well done mate I remember seeing you on course , yes definitely a low point just before parade farm for me , sunset was nice but still 20 odd miles to go when ya not feeling it is hard , well done , see ya in next one 110 , or 60 ? Carfull they get addictive hardmoors family
@@RunningSlow got there in the end with about 45 minutes to spare! Great day but the last few miles from White Horse seemed a real slog and the 3 Sisters are still haunting me!
@@richardsands8402 Wow! You'll be good, the body is capable of incredible things. I've got the 40, and 60 to do this year. I'm thinking about the 110 next year. Good luck 👍💪🏻
Cheers mate! Was hoping to get a bit more footage at that checkpoint, as I know you are always good value. However, I was starting to suffer a bit and needed to get it done!
Great job! I have my first 100k in a month (UTMB Canyons) and I am very curious how my body handles that second 50k. You handled it well, I appreciate you sharing the experience. What mileage per week did you peak at?
Thank you. I don't follow any kind of training plan, so just fit runs in when I can and don't worry too much about mileage😬🫣 Good luck with your race 👍💪🏻

Great work mate. I know they’re not in the bin 🗑️!!
They actually are, but the soles were falling off by the end of the race. New pair required!

Great effort mate, on the training you did, imagine what you could do if you actually put some work in😂👍🏻
That almost sounds like a common sense approach!! 😂😂
