Tricycle drivers in The Philippines have been awful to deal with during our trip so far! But for every 9 bad people there's always 1 good honest man which we really appreciate 🙏
On behalf of those abusive Filipino trike drivers, i apologize. Even us their fellowmen they also taking advantage of our state of life, depending how we dress up or if they know we can afford some. My pity goes to the foreigners, most specially. They are the one who got the usual treatment like that from those abusive drivers.
Well, the blue tricycles which are in blue colors are MUTODAs, they are usually on the queue and wait for their turn to load up passengers which might take hours of waiting to take their turn. And they do have specific and designated line destination and usually having several few trips in a day. So what did happen there was the asked 300 pesos was the "rent price" which might be equivalent to a back and forth charge for a full loaded trip (5-6 passengers) plus they were out of their franchise line. I dont think that is really an overpriced/dishonest asked rental fee on that specific situation especially inorogan is a remote mountain part and its rare that tricycles are going there. And for the guy who brought you there in a yellow tricycle was part of the NIATODA line which are always on the move and probably somehow inorogan might be part of their franchise line. They are usually asking the minimum fare which might be around 13-15 pesos per passenger since they are free to pickup passengers within the city line and the highway line to Baao in which Inorogan is partly located on these barangays. I dont think the other guy is being dishonest or taking advantage of you. Because I myself is paying say 100 pesos a ride "within the city/main line/bus terminal" for a rented tricycle. Thank you anyway for coming 😊

The only less risky tricycles are those in Naga City, because they are required to follow certain routes, and tricycles are part of daily commute ordinary people. You ride and hop the color coded tricycles plying around the city. Legaspi and Iriga cities on the other hand use jeepneys as their main transport. So the tricycles drivers there, not all, learned so many tricks on how to scam their passengers as they are less used public transport.

Trivia: Many Bicol churches during Spanish times were built on top of the hills or a very fortified one, with small windows. Bicol used to be raided by M*slim pirates from Mindanao and Malaysia. The church acted as the last stand of the villagers and the bell tower for the parish priest- usually the "accidental military commander" leading Bicolano villagers during raids. There are still towns in Camarines Sur that retained the cannons in front of their churches or town halls, the reminder of the rural Bicolano folks bloody history.
You really can't blame them po, MUTODA drivers, if they charge 300 pesos (which the price usually ranges to 250-300 pesos depending on the driver) because they waited hourssss for their turn to pass and their route is in Mountain Unit. Either rent it for 250-300 pesos or wait for other commuters to fill all the seats po, that’s how it works. I’m from Mountain Unit in Iriga City, that’s why I know about their pricing. They’re not being dishonest or scamming u with their price po, that’s a fair price for a MUTODA driver. Btw it’s a good thing u went with NIATODA, if it saves u 250 pesos.
