Last year, I trained for (in Houston, TX) and walked the NYC marathon. I noticed my body, particularly my legs, getting bigger(!) than they already were and I couldn't understand what was going on. Earlier this year, I learned about lipedema and I've been on the journey to diagnosis ever since (yes, I have food-and-hand-sparing lipedema) and I'm going to start lymphatic therapy next month to hopefully help arrest progression. I am grateful my body actually survived an entire marathon and that it continues to serve me. I'm grateful for this group and so many other resources from citizen-warriors that are out there to provide hope. This seems like a devastating, hopeless condition (and there are many clueless doctors) and seeing so many women thriving is priceless.
