- My first trip in Kaweka Forest Park was an epic one. I walked a loop of the main range and Back Ridge from Makahu Saddle over three days, staying at Kiwi Saddle and Back Ridge Huts. A dusting of snow underfoot, awesome views on the tops, rivers and gorgeous huts made for an amazing trip.
Music is my own.
Thanks for sharing, one of my favourite areas
Thanks for watching! It was a stunning trip
Great video. Thanks for bringing back good memories of when I had a much younger body. Bless.
Thanks for watching, and your comment! Cheers
Playing catch up sorry bro.
Epic video. That castle camp looked pretty sick and the terrain looked amazing. The ice blasted marker poles were pretty cool.
Cheers.
Cheers bro. Definitely my favourite trip of the past few months. Hoping to get some more big mountain trips in before winter
Awesome video! Nick and I enjoyed watching this together and reminiscing on our night at kiwi saddle 😁
Awesome to hear from you! Such a good time. How was Studholme? Tell Nick I've got a prototype cat stove ready for my next trip
Defintely awesome country. Appreciated this video very much as that loop is on my to-do list in the next few months. Thanks.
Awesome! It was a stunning trip, I'm glad I made it happen
Stunning scenery and views, the peace and quiet to enjoy it would be amazing. Loved the shot of the light red sky over the hills😊
Thanks for watching, I loved that view too!
A great video, thanks, that brings back memories of a 4 day New Year's trip many years ago. The views from the open tops are unforgettable. My knees remember the descents too and have never been the same since!
Thanks very much Robin. Those climbs and descents were definitely memorable!
Crickey you got the weather perfect. Good first day, well done you, that surprisingly gnarly drop into Studholme & the grunt out from old Biv site takes a toll. Jesse, I continued on into Manson Country, if you want to see what that route is like, I’d recommend stopping at historic Manson for a unique experience. Are you shooting in 4K now, what model is the GoPro, it’s certainly very sharp?
Thanks Dave. It was an awesome weather window, also considering that dusting of snow from the night before. Yeah the Studholme drop was tricky on icy ground. I'll be rewatching your Manson videos soon as hopefully I can get there in the future. I'm still just in 1080 60 but I did upgrade to a Hero 10. Really enjoying it
@@ReviloNZwalks wow, the 10 is producing almost surreal clear, it’s also possibly the 60fps, vs 30, I might need to follow suit as I’m having audio issues, nice upgrade. 👍
@@OutdoorsmanDave Cheers, yeah I felt it was a long overdue upgrade. I thought it might stop the need for a main camera upgrade, but that idea is still nagging at me ;)
Need to do Kaweka J, been trying a few times but mother nature hasnt been to kind for me so trip ended up being short
It's tough lining up weather windows and days off!
Hi, thanks so much for sharing the video. It's amazing! I want to plan a hike in the Kaweka Range. I'm wondering if you have the trail map?
Thanks very much for watching. I use topo maps to plan my trips in conjunction with online info. You can either go to topomap.co.nz or find one of the various apps (I download the maps to view offline when out on my trip). Cheers
@@ReviloNZwalks Great! Thanks so much for your help!
In checking for hiking and camping videos in New Zealand (UA-cam), you come in far down the list and only twice. There is nothing in your UA-cam name to indicate what you are and do. Why not "NZHiking" or something similar? I am definitely a fan and want you to have more subscribers and viewers; you certainly deserve more. I just found you by chance. Just saying...
I really appreciate it! I'm not too fussed about pleasing the algorithm for the sake of exposure, as that's not what I do it for. With a small following, I think most people do find me by chance. I'm surprised to have international viewers given my quite specific video titles! The username is a good consideration though, so appreciate that.
No offense intended! I love watching your videos.@@ReviloNZwalks
