Hey Raymond, I just want to say. I’ve got a tripped planned to Japan next year in February. Your videos were the main reason I was able to achieve this. I have managed to book myself, partner and two kids in business class with JAL. From Sydney to Tokyo then Tokyo back to Sydney. So thanks mate, keep up the good work and hopefully it will help more people to achieve their goals of flying in the pointy end of the plane. :)
Hey man, really appreciate this message! This is awesome that you've been able to book reward flights for your whole family in business class, that's going to be an epic trip to remember!
@@MarcelaSanchez-dn3qh 12 months. As soon as JAL released their reward seats. I was looking everyday, multiple times a day. It’s abit of work, but definitely going to be worth it !
This was a fantastic overview of point hacking! Im really new to this and to credit cards in general and watching this video all the way through was very easy to follow along. Thanks dude!
Perfect timing on this video, I just got accepted for my first ever credit card (Anz frequent flyer platinum). Super excited to get into the world of churning. Thanks heaps for the videos!
Hi Raymond, thank you for your video-it's exactly what I've been looking for! I have just applied for my first credit card, and I wanted to know if you ever experience pushback from the bank when canceling your credit card after three months.
Glad it was helpful! Nope - never received any push back at all. It's actually illegal in Australia for banks to try and retain you when cancelling your credit card.
@raymondla it's really confusing, for example the coles prepaid no fee online only master card stipulates you can't use it for bill payments and the card is non refundable. The physical coles cards have a fee attached to their purchase. So I'm unsure how to navigate the space of ATO and State tax/rates payments
Hi Raymond, i want to ask you about the ANZ FF cc. how long did you wait after reaching the spend criteria until you received the bonus points? thank you
Hi Raymond, If i incur points from AMEX. before cancelling the AMEX card can i transfer those points to Qantas frequent flier or velocity? That way even if i cancel the amex the points won't expire. is this possible? thanks in advance
Yes you can transfer those points to any of the partner airlines that AMEX has prior to cancelling and you will be fine. Note that Qantas is only a transfer partner if you hold the AMEX Platinum Card.
Hey Raymond, your videos are quite useful, thanks for this! What would be the best way to track when Qantas release new seats available to be booked with Qantas points?
Best way would be to set up seat alerts, I set up mine via Seats.Aero (but this is a paid service). I believe you can also set up some form of seat alerts via Qantas directly
Great video! Would you happen to have any tips for credit cards under direct debit already? Are there fees for taking it off direct? Is it better to manually pay off bills if we are changing cards often?
Hi Raymond, Just started the churning process thanks to you. Started with my first card that I intend to keep as my keeper in November. When would you recommend waiting until, to get my second card that I intend to churn?
I just watched one of his videos where he recommends you get a new card every 3-4 months which correlates to the time it takes for your credit score to bounce back from the credit enquiry
As already replied, I think when starting off every 3-4 months is a good balance. Once you get more comfortable you can become more aggressive and apply for a new credit card once you've received the sign-up bonus of your current card
You’ll need to apply for a different card with another provider. There’s typically terms that state you aren’t eligible for a sign up bonus if you’ve held the same card or similar with that provider
Travel - Further to your point on points expiring after cancelling the card, am I correct in assuming that with the Amex Ultimate Qantas card once the points are transferred to Qantas they are safe and mt Qantas balance won’t be reduced?
You are correct, it's only points linked to the loyalty program of the credit card provider that will expire if you cancel your credit card. If it's linked to a frequent flyer like Qantas / Velocity than they won't.
Hi Raymond and everyone Awesome video! Wonder if anyone knows which bank accept credit card application from someone who’s under temporary visa? I currently have a 4year graduate visa but been hearing it is difficult to apply for one. Cheers TRAVEL!
Travel: Question- if you get rewards such as lounge passes do they have to be used up before cancelling the card or is assigned them to a flight enough to not loose them? I was looking to get an Amex card but found many bills dont accept Amex but only Visa and Mastercard.
Are you saying if I buy a vanilla Woolworths debit card with my Amex that I can pay my ATO tax bill or council rates notice and there is no surcharge applied bc it is not a credit card?
Correct - there is a small surcharge when using a debit card to pay for your ATO bill but it's like 0.3% compared to like 2% for credit cards. Plus you double dip on the points because you used your AMEX card to purchase the vanilla debit cards!
@ I see many people online that some of these debit cards have been hacked and you don’t get the credit you paid for and the vendor doesn’t help. Has this been your experience?
Question: can I pay the credit card bill with another credit card via BPay and if so would it count to towards the spending requirement for the signup bonus?
All credit cards can make payments to the ATO. It's just that the fees charged are high and you often don't earn the full amount of points as you would with normal transactions.
@@harderbetterfastable no unfortunately the fees aren't set by the credit cards but by the ATO directly. You can see the fees set by the ATO on this page here - www.ato.gov.au/individuals-and-families/paying-the-ato/how-to-pay/other-payment-details
Hey Raymond, I've heard people on Reddit say that some credit providers will reverse your bonus QF points (even after received in your QF account) if you don't keep your credit account active for 3 months. Have you heard of this happening?
I'm retired and try not to spend too much money on things I don't need ( not overusing my credit card). I'm assuming from what you said that if I pay my bills and buy gift cards to do my shopping I should be able to jump on the band wagon and start collecting points for overseas trips. Also Qantas would be more for Global flights and Virgin For Domestic, New Zealand and SE Asian trips? Which one do you have?
Correct - you don't need to overspend to take advantage of this. Just spend on what you normally would (that's what I do!) I hold both Qantas and Virgin as it gives you more flexibility. Virgin have plenty of partner airlines that allow you to fly internationally with, so they aren't limited to only domestic, NZ and SEA.

This video is epic. Thank you! Can you make a video on paying ATO payments to get points
Hey mate - the best method is the one I outlined in the video where you use vanilla gift cards to pay off your ATO debt!

Shouldn't have any fees to change direct debit, I change it all the time.
