- How to make a DIY LED Night Light from Oak Pallet Wood
Lights: $8 USD - amzn.to/2gToIkA
You'll need a 12 V power supply as well. I don' t know what country you're in, but here's an example of what I used in the US:
12V power supply: $12 USD for 5 - amzn.to/2A5IjX9
You could also just use a battery pack if you didn't want to use a wall plug.
Optionally, I bought switches so my kids could turn off their lights without unplugging them:
Inline power switch: $10 USD for 5 - amzn.to/2gR7GDI - Навчання та стиль
Great idea and love the pallet wood idea
Thank you for respecting and being careful with the saw blade.
Thanks for the compliment, and Spain is a beautiful country. It looks like you have some cool stuff on your channel too, so I'm looking forward to watching your videos.
Many thanks mate! The same I say, wishing to see more insteresantes projects, by the way you already have a subscriber more: D
I think you are an absolute genius and a craftsman !

Mine is still working and looking good. 3+ years now
cool stuff buddy ;)
You can arrest the top signage light with brown vinyl or grey vinyl
MUY BUENO AMIGO!!!! Saludos
Gracias!
Hey @Doug Royal ! I have a question for you. Do you attach 12 volts directly to the led strip? Isn't it overkill? Or do you use some kind of electric scheme to do it? I would really like to know :)
Directly, it's not overkill as the LED strip is designed to run on 12 volts.
Nice job. Did u cut a slot and insert the led strip in facing up?
Yep. I didn't get any good video of that part, so it's not as clear as I'd like it too be.
Me: lets do it, it's so cool!
1:59 CJ: oh shit, here we go again!
Do you know the name of the machine plz ?
I definitely want one ✔ 👏👏👏
I can probably manage a delivery sometime in late December. Around the 25th :)

Did you use tabs while carving for the "islands" in the letters?
0:07 yes
I'm interested in the make and model of the tool used to do the lettering. I really enjoyed this video. (NEW SUB)
ua-cam.com/video/WpRhUd0Lj2k/v-deo.html
What did you use to carve the letters out
Looks great, I done this on my son's pinewood derby car. How much you charge to route a name ado I can build one
I've never charged for my work. This is just a hobby, so everything I make usually ends up as a gift to a friend or someone in my family.
Like the Music man
Hi Doug, I like your project. I have the x carve and recently got it. I was wondering what software you use to send your files to your machine? Is it universal g code or something of the sort?
I use Fusion 360 to build the models, tool paths, and to generate the gcode.
I use bCNC to control my CNC machine.
github.com/vlachoudis/bCNC
Doug Royal Awesome. Thanks a lot for the quick reply. It helps a lot.

Does anybody know what he used to carve the name out? What tool or machine is that????
Giant spiders. LOL
Good
Hi there,
can u maby tell me what kind of type of font u have use ?
I couldn't find the original file, but I think it was a standard serif font. Liberation Serif ships with Fedora so that's probably what I used. I think I used a 6mm bit in my CNC machine, so the serifs are more round than normal.
What was that spray
what kind of acrylic did you used?
Whatever they have at my local home depot. I didn't bother to look at the brand.
Nice - Nicely done.... Would it be better if it was solar powered????
Nice, you taking orders for name, minus the light, I'll add that?
Yes, send me an email and we'll chat: youtube@dougroyal.com
Hi, this is a nice video. What is your name machine?
ua-cam.com/video/WpRhUd0Lj2k/v-deo.html
Giant spi- HOLY HELL!
what the font?
Nice video.. Do you have any recommendation of cnc machine under $1000?
Unfortunately, no. This is the first CNC machine I've ever owned so I don't have any way to compare it to others.
What cnc machine do use here?
A Shapeoko 3. It costs just over $1000
carbide3d.com/shapeoko/
Searched but found none in indonesia.. Thanks for the response anyway.. Liked your vids..
Tri Sut
Friend what about the cost for the tools you used.
I'm not sure how to answer this question because the prices can vary pretty dramatically. All my tools are low to middle-quality hobbyist tools. I found some of my tools damaged, so I got a great deal on them. Others I bought used. If you have to buy them new, they'd be pretty expensive. The nicest tools I own are the ones I inherited from my grandpa.
For this project, I used a table saw, planer, and CNC machine. The CNC machine could be replaced by a scroll saw, and that would be significantly less expensive.
What letter type name is it
Hey, did you have to polish the edge of the acrylic?
I didn't polish the acrylic. The "frosted" edge that the table saw leaves helps defuse the otherwise sharp LED light.
Doug Royal brilliant thanks, I am making something like this to use as a house sign and wasn’t sure should I polish the edge or not
I also recommend you frost the face of the acrylic too. I didn't do that on the first couple I made and I wasn't too happy with how bright the LEDs were. I've tried two techniques for frosting the acrylic and I was happy with both techniques. First, simply use a "Frosted Glass" spray paint. Second, all the acrylic I've ever bought has a thin plastic cover on it, so if you can find acrylic where the plastic cover is translucent white, then just buy that and leave the plastic on :) That's what I did to defuse the light on the back of the kid that's trapped in my giant spider Halloween display.
Doug Royal thanks very much for the tips, will definitely try that out
You could use a 180 or 220 grit sandpaper too.
What are this 4 steel rods that you put on the 4 sides called.. i wana get this but i dont know what its called
bolts
What kind of sprayed u have used ...?? And for why...??
I used a "Minwax Polyshades Aerosol" spray. I was just experimenting with a different finish. The finish was disappointing because it looked exactly the same as a simple teak oil finish, so I don't think I'll use the spray again.
from the video, it looked great. always good to seal the wood to help it last. I like the spray to keep hands clean. i've used gloves, but you feel less and the result might not be as good. So the spray was a good idea...
What's the tool at 2:03 called?
It's a CNC machine

Yes. I was surprised by that too.
Can you sell me one?
Golden office sighnages
How did you do the routing?
I did it with a CNC machine.
Very nice!
How much the cnc machine..? Is it big size.. tq
I own a Shapeoko. There are different sizes and prices. Here's their website: carbide3d.com/shapeoko/
Doug Royal tq bro😀
Sound parenting.
*your tools is very powerfull and nice*, but me, i no have this tools to cut and build shape of wood and acrylic!... :(
How can I order 2?
I've started an Etsy shop.
Are you wanting these for Christmas? If so, I'm not sure they'll be there on time. It takes about three days to finish one (because the finish has to dry between coats). I could get them in the mail by Friday, but I'm worried that might not leave enough time for them to get to you by Christmas.
Email me if you want to chat:

Here's the Etsy shop I started:
