Big time. If there were any justice this would be getting picked up by radio stations all over. This is some of the finest pop music coming out right now.
Obsessed with your album. You are a rarity to have an incredible voice, such songwriting talent, and skill to play so many instruments well. Every time I listen to one of your songs I feel like I dig a little deeper into the meaning.
I want to produce a film JUST so I can use this for the opening montage that basically tells the audience about our protagonist... For serious... Your music is SO CINEMATIC!!!!
I love how simple and nonpretentious this piano solo is and also how elegantly ironic is it's way of depicting the song's topic - from the middle grounds of feelings to the love's peak and then straight down to the lowest abbyss. :)
Especially since that's the same SQUIER Strat Jack uses in the 'Cory Wong' video. Some of us take days so re-amp and dial in a sound, spend thousands on stupid amps and they're just like 'duh, let's mic this tinny Strat with two mics, that'll do the job'
@@enricodemeo Actually, they're different guitars. Both natural finish Strats, but Theo's got a Fender. I'd also imagine it's not on for this take, but who knows, maybe he likes to mix in the unplugged Strat sound.
Smart move to only film the man On The Fender Bass from the neck down. We need to censor that head bob before kids start trying it at home and breaking vertebrae.
It’s amazing to me that this is (I believe) the first time we are hearing Theo use a voice box. Like, of course he would kill it with one. Also, really like the subtle use of it during the final chorus and outro.
This is my morning walk song. First on the playlist, puts me in a good mood for the rest of the day. Love your stuff man, thanks for the good songs in the age of vibe !
I've been listening to this on spotify since it dropped and didn't realize this song got a video until today. I had been wishing it did just so I could see the talk box solo and I was not disappointed
Now someone needs to come up with a comedy series called “The Death of Us” and Theo’s set up for life to come up with awesome songs like this every day 😊 👍🏼
Love the t-shirt. That was the first band t-shirt I ever bought, still got it 15 years later. Thin Lizzy are such a great band. Little Feat and Thin Lizzy are, in my opinion, the two best bands from the 70's and are both criminally underrated. Much like you and all the Vulfpeck guys. I feel so lucky to have had a chance to see you live a few years ago. Thanks for all the wonderful music.
Saw his first show of his tour in Seattle on the 10th, fantastic! Theo has all the tools! uber song writer ,player of many instruments, fantastic unique voice!!! No wonder so many talent musicians want to play with him. Get on board!!!!
I truly hope this level of musicality is the future of pop. Your new stuff is so good that it sincerely makes me mad that Swift, Cardi, Mendez, etc continue to perpetuate their crap. You truly make art, Theo. You make essential music, and best of all; you do it with your own 2 hands.
I think that Lee Pardini's piano playing is outstanding (and perhaps underrated) on this whole record. Such a crucial part of the sound of this record. Love hearing these well constructed and humble but impressive piano parts on an actual acoustic piano that sounds drop-dead gorgeous. I do not know what the engineers did to the bass and piano but they blend SOOOO WELL. (Check out 3:06)
I was writing a song and I started playing a random riff on my guitar. I really liked it, and while I was playing it I was thinking to myself "this riff sounds kinda familiar". I just literally logged into UA-cam and got this in my recommended, and I realised the riff I "wrote" is exactly the same as The Death Of Us. Damn, I knew it was too good to be true, lol. Oh well
I'm sorry for not knowing your music until now I heard a tune Joey Landreth was playing an so thru him I found you .you are beyond ,amazing, and now I'm diving deep into your music 🎶thank you
I saw your show in Phoenix recently at the Crescent Ballroom. It's one of the best shows I've seen in years. You're an amazing song writer, singer, and musician. You're one of my very favorite new artists. I think that future looks very bright for you and hope that you sweep the Grammy's next year. You're the real deal!
Don’t remember if I already said that, but you take your instruments to the tenth power. Love the piano solo, keep making music as long as that passion still burns like it does in this song.
@@timvanderkooi Nice catch! It's been 40+ years! Just had a listen - great Elliot Randall guitar on that one too! Getting down to the Steely Dan here in my 1 bedroom....
Theo has some criminally underrated solo work

i swear, we need his music to hit the top 40
And some incredibly deep pocket
@@SixStringsandSauce back pocket too 🤡
You’re mom is underrated also.
The king of upbeat songs with really depressing lyrics.
I mean god damn I did not realize that this is what that is about.
@Mason Wink Maybe he means Queen the band, y'know?
Listen to the Smiths. They were literally known for doing this.
Reel Big Fish - dateless losers. More on the nose but damned upbeat and depressing

Thanks for showing Lee's hands during his solo. Killer.

Same!
My thoughts precociously. The next Paul Simon.
@@MrPhillyguy ...or the first Theo Katzman.
This dude has literally everything - songwriting chops, instrument chops, vocals... madness
What's even crazier, i have that exact Thin Lizzy tshirt... he has awesome music taste too lol!

I really like Lee Pardini's parts on this album. Especially on this and What Did You Mean (When You Said Love)
The solo on this song is especially crazy gooooood
I’ve been a fan for Lee’s for a few years now. He really stands out on this album. 🔥🎹
Lee’s work live with the band Dawes is nutty. Def check them out live if you get the chance.
I love how simple and nonpretentious this piano solo is and also how elegantly ironic is it's way of depicting the song's topic - from the middle grounds of feelings to the love's peak and then straight down to the lowest abbyss. :)
Michał Poniedzielski Major Mike Garson vibes, no?
What. A. Good. Riff. An absolute bop. This guy can write.
top tier lyrics, melody, and instrumental. thank you for making music that I love.
You make covers that I love!
2:05 Piano man has his finger on the trigger, and the talk box solo…too good! Way to go, Theo! Outstanding music!
Lee Pardini babieee

THEO: *2 mics on the body of an ELECTRIC guitar*

A+++ Talk Box!!! Hell yeah.
Song and production are fantastic.
Theo, I feel like Vulfpeck would do an amazing cover of Showdown by Thin Lizzy if you would consider it that'd be so awesome
Do you just wake up everyday and come up with a new masterpiece?
I can't get this song out of my head. You're a legend, Theo.
Who else noticed theo quoting the famous Limmy line -
WRONG WAY, DOWN A ONE WAY STREET
Exactly what I was thinking
