I heard "hesitance" and thought, "Ooh, that doesn't fit very well" and then I heard "evidence" and thought, "Oh, man, that feels nice."
He actively states you don’t to play by the rules. This seems like a point being made.
I love all the rhyming in the chorus. The last chorus goes:

It’s cool how he mixes in bars of three and it sounds so natural. I didn’t even notice for a while.

@@1_out_of_10_dentists Most western music is comprised of measures or bars of four beats. You can count 1, 2, 3, 4 and each "one" feels heavier in a way then the other three beats. The snare drum typically gets played on the 2 and 4. You can look up good videos on the topic that will explain it better than I can. What Katzman does in this song is occasionally have a bar of only three beats. At these parts it feels wrong to count all the way to four. Sometimes when you use metric change there's a danger of sounding like either you're only using it to kind of show off, or very clunky and repetitive, but in this song it feels very natural. Jake Lizzio at Signals Music Studio has a great video on the subject titled "Understanding and Using Odd Time Signatures".
An example in this song is the first "momma" falls on a "one" beat. You can count to four twice, then you can only count to three for the next measure

Theo really is the most talented member of Vulf IMO: the others are great musicians but in a technically skilled kind of way, whereas he's an artist in the most creative sense of the word. His lyrics are miles above anyone else's in the band, I can't wait for the album!
