Hi Linus and Karin, I like the immediate gratification you get when you can compare the orchids over time. Ty for posting like this. I saw my first thrips of summer today. Yuck

Hi Karin, you’ve really tempted me to give some Bulbophilum a go but I really don’t have spare space for even one more plant in my home. I can just keep enjoying your blooms without having to put up with the nasty smelling ones. Thanks for sharing your care guides to growing these beautiful flowers. I especially love Elizabeth Anne with those gorgeous pink blooms that to me look like little babies tucked into cocoons.

Hi there! What än adorable description for the Elizabeth Ann! ❤️‍🩹 But in comparison to the bulbophyllum rothschildianum nothing is great enough. Rosy scent, excellent flowers long lasting ( in dry conditions at the time even infested by thrips) Are u sure no hanging space available? 😁🤩 Well I've started for real to divide, sell stuff which hasnt bloomed ever or for a long time. Better to give away a non bloomer to somebody else in many cases the change in conditions will trigger the plant itself to 'change'. That's why I always seem to have spare space. We arrange 2 auctions a year and possibility to bring orchids for sale to our monthly society meetings. At first I had huge trouble to convince myself to get rid of a few. Now with some training it gets easier for each time. Take care hope to talk soon again 🥰❤️‍🩹

Great repotting video, enjoyed it a lot, thanks for sharing. I have only one but found them interesting and looking for nice smell ones. Have a great week and happy growing.

Thank's for stopping bye here! That's something I thought would be a problem, the smell.. but this far they've only come out with tolerable and sometimes even great smelling. If the one you have isnt the bulbophyllum rothschildianum id strongly suggest you get one. That one is my favourite! Have a great weekend ❤️

hey karin, hope linus is doing ok.
I finally got round to buying the same pump sprayer you have. Best sprayer I've owned. I don't have any bulbos. That's one I don't think I will ever get into or catasetums. Urgh just thinking about them makes me cringe. Mathew just brought out a video on them today describing the conflicting information on them and the difficulty growing them which is why I won't even bother ever getting into those even though I know I would do amazing growing them (yes everyone laugh with me).
If you watched his video he has been growing them for 6 years, killed half of them and has not managed to get them to flower for him yet althoug he says this year is the year. Anyways, not my cup of tea. I'll keep my limited space for more intersting orchids, like Cattleya's.
Although I thought that any amateur could grow catasetums seeing others struggle with them over the years I think they are harder than people think, not that that is what deters me. It's more the type of people that grow them I think. I am more of a cattleya and phal grower. If you ever watched MattbyNature, I think his last video might be the last we ever hear from him as so many youtubers over the years. Not sure if you ever followed Attainable Green? It's ironic really, these growers come on youtube, bring out a bunch of video's saying how easy it all is. Start to struggle a little and are then never heard from again.
I never liked Matts attitude that he felt above growing the hybrids because the hybrids "are for beginners" and then surprise surprise he killed off all his orchids and we'll probably never hear from him when he should have just stuck to the hybrids which lets be honest are the best choice to begin with no matter how much we want to grow the species.
Some I will admit even I still struggle with too... Like cattleya pumila, how many growers do you see with that in their collection? The reason is not because they aren't readily available (although that is part of it) but because nobody can keep them alive long term. The orchid propagator thought he had one but it turned out it was not a real pumila and instead he had an easier to grow hybrid instead. I don't know anyone who grows the cattleya pumila successfully these days which is a shame. There are people that have cattleya jenmanii's but again that is not an easy species to grow at all and why it is rather rare in cultivation. Bifoliates on the other hand always get a bad rep but I do amazing with those and find them much easier than some others so it's all a matter of perspective and sometimes pot luck which some people do well with and others not.
Thanks for another video. Till the next one 😉

Hello! Glad you left a comment! Very rare nowadays, don't know where all the followers have gone. After my video on phragmipediums on may 18th my channel has more or less disappeared on youtube it seems. Mass unsubscribing from my channel, etc. for a while I thought I might as well quit the channel. But then I realized how much fun I still think filming is, so I have to simply accept the fact that my channel will never grow as big like Miss Orchid girl etc. UA-cam would like you to do as they want and suggest otherwise you will be put on hold.. Some channels live on their advertising revenue, etc., that's where the creative options end.. now they have to make videos about how they repot a phalaenopsis or cattleya just because these are popular topics. In the beginning, I was invited by Ninja to participate in care collabs. There, my channel grew a lot and I made many good contacts. Also Matt By nature, attainable green etc. I have to admit that I no longer have time to watch all the channels I want, I have the dog, several jobs and association commitments to take into account. I saw your film and understand a little more how you think about cultivation. Please watch my next film about dendrobiums. think you'll like the idea 😁 Have a good time and a great weekend

@@KarinsOrchids Hey Karin, please do not give up making video's. You are amongst my top 3 favorite youtubers!! I am so sorry to hear the youtube algorithm is against you. I know many youtubers that although they bring out amazing content youtube is to blame. Then you get some youtubers that when they first started used cheating software to boost their subscribers. This is much harder these days but once a youtuber has 100k subscribers then the channels will grow much faster after that. Missorchidgirl only has like 500 people regularly viewing her videos. So she might have 500k subscribers on paper but that is just a number and not really representative of who watches her videos.
I know how you feel though and glad I am not the only one that feels less positive at times but I would miss your content loads so I hope you having a big fan makes up for you having a slump.
I have learnt so much from other youtubers, the good growers like you and the less good growers too. Much more than forums can ever teach so these video's are all valuable. Growing orchids takes patience. Takes time. It's not about going on a forum asking a question and getting the wrong answer.
It's about seeing how others do it and form your own way of doing things. There never is one simple answer.
Anyway the main reason we grow is for our own satisfaction. Sometimes I think "what did I get myself into" especially when the bugs are so annoying but then I tell myself I would still always rather grow them than have nothing growing in my house!!
Right? But yeah stupid youtube. Don't get put down by an AI algorithm. That's all it is.
Remember in summer people will comment far less. That is human nature. Come autumn and winter your comments will go right up again, trust me.
