Nice work guys! Love the graphics. 😎 And yeah mountain biking isn’t all about shredding. It’s also about staying fit, keeping your mind healthy, exploring places you’d never see without a bike etc. But its easy to get wrapped up in progression when most social media about riding very much slants toward shredbros and a lot of the trails outside trailcentres are built by and for adrenaline chasers. I’d also like to remind people that while the risks are the same, the consequences can differ a lot from one person to the next. Where a broken arm can mean a few weeks off work for one person, it can spell financial ruin for the next. And obviously that can skew perceptions massively. Anyway, I really appreciate you taking this as a talking point in your videos and it’s why you’re still my favorite biking channel! Happy riding!
They graphics are incredible Ed, Thank you so much for the hard work that went into them! Thank you for such a thoughtful comments on the Progression topic, you raise some really points. We all have to decide what is and is not worth the risk and sometimes those are split second decisions rather than subjective and rational ones. We aren’t trying to preach, more suggesting folk assess there progress in years rather than weeks and look kindly on their achievements and reflect positively on the journey! I appreciate you taking time to show your appreciation for the mindful elements. I hope it makes the channel stand out!
It’s a pleasure Craig, we share the passion for inspiring people to ride, we will gladly promote the magazine wherever and whenever we can! Can’t wait to see how it develops over time! 🙌
Passed through Yair whilst riding Southern Upland way, have often looked at these on trailforks and wondered how rideable they actually are. Having said that had done DD descent on the way back which I thought was red but turns out it's black - straight in at the deep end then! 😂 Think I will brave the elements tommorow and go for it, great guide to Yair forest and thanks for sharing!
Brilliant Gary! Enjoy! The top section of ginger mullet is a bit meh and a stinker of a final climb so perhaps miss that out if you need to save your legs! Good views though! Cheers for the message!
When I visited Yair I found the trails a good mixture of off-piste types. There are some real nice flowly biys and steep tech, some of which needs superb balance and commitement to do. A few sections above my pay grade as well (for now). StreetPidgeonMTB did a nice video on these trails
@@RicardoPetrazzi yeah agreed! I need to explore the rest of the black trails and the other reds in offer as well. Will probably take the ebike and tick them all off! Street pigeons edit was ace 👍
Great vid as always. The only off piste trails that I usually ride are the one at glentress and a couple at hamsterly.but I will definitely stop at Yair the next time I’m up in the tweed valley as they look like really fun trail that aren’t that hard. 👍🏼
It’s absolutely perfect for learning off piste. Then a good next step would be our off piste for beginners at glentress. Defo a bit more steep but they look easier than the tracks you’ve been reading locally on your edits 👍
@DownhillDesireMTB awesome! Not easy tracks by any stretch but you can find sone flow and find your braking zones so they’re a bit more palatable than the rootfests you normally get deep in the woods! 👍
I alway think Yair and Cademuir are great testing grounds for finally hitting Golfie - along with Angry Sheep and Green Wing at Inners. Great vid and will definitely be back to do Yair again on a group ride - the black stuff does get pretty gnarly! Thornilee is supposed to be even steeper - one place in the Valley I have not ridden yet. Lucky to have all this an hour from my doorstep :D
Absolutely! Though cademuir in the wet doubles in hardness for me! Love angry sheep and green wing, incredible tracks! I am also to try thornilee yet though yeah it looks pretty mental. Ah man, I wish we lived an hour away! One day, we hope to live in the valley! 🙌
Fantastic stuff mate, I've had my eye on Yair for a while but still not got over there as yet. Those two blacks look mint! Thornielee, however, I can highly recommend, it's brilliant! The woofer is gorgeous btw 😍
Edit request - love it !! - yes, been thinking about this. the only real issue is the tracks at special K seem to be gone and the mast road is shut and the detour is a bit of a bog (I think). Only issue is that I have 3 routes up - best of - best of part 2 and best winter loop and al;l are affected. So I might do a winter loop revision first an then see how we are in spring
@ the main track at special k still exists and works apparently my friends have informed me the one with the weird berm jump where u drop at the end of the woods as for the mast I never really go up there this time of year personally
@@NW-ENDURO I don't really ride rivvy much through winter, the fun tracks dont hold up well in poor weather. Ill have an explore at some point and see if I can’t revise the route.
@ awesome thanks mate my friend cayden(the one that’s been featured on one of ur videos before) went up when it was snowing and did some of the pidgeon tower tracks they where looking pretty decent
Thornilee is a huge step up from Yair. It has some seriously steep stuff on the lower half anyway 👍🏻 what camera are you using as it seems very dark on this video mate.v
Yeah, I’ll give it a go at some point I don’t kind steep when I’m in the mood! It’s a DJI osmo, still playing with settings but I think I’ve finally sussed the under exposure. Dark as hell in them woods though
I think thorny is the best place in the tweed valley personally, as steep and techy as you want and doesn’t have the motorway traffic of the golfie. Defo give it a go mate you will love it. Iv been looking at replacing my GoPro with one of these but all the videos Iv seen seem to struggle with dark woods. Look forward to your next pal. Good stuff
@ the low light stabilisation is way better than GoPro, just need to understand the exposure and iso, think I’m getting there now. It’s all a learning curve. Setting intonation should have probably got better results but long term better to learn to use the pro settings, though there’s some pain to swallow first

I’m keen on a thornilee day for sure.
Aw thanks man! Hugo says thanks! 🙏
@MindfulTrailBiker Thornielee is fairly steep and pretty rocky. There's about 5 or 6 absolute belters. 👍🏻
now the felling has stopped at rivington could you make a video showing a good trail route now after some trails have been destroyed etc
