As a kid, I use to always play with the pens attached to the chains at banks and what not. Would wiggle it as fast as I could, was mesmerizing. This reminds me of that.
We have some of those for Christmas Tree decorations, and when we first got them, the end accidentally slipped out of the cup and pulled the rest of the string with it like it was alive. We now call those the "Pandora's Cup" beads because of it 😂
Raising the cup up in the air increased the potential energy. Throwing the start of the string up in the air gave the whole kit the kinetic energy to get this going and countrtact gravity.
