Love the video. I was living on Potts Point (Hugh St, just off Victoria Road) in 2001 when backpacking. Great to see the area again and which parts have changed.
@@fullboxxskater if I recall it was 2/1 ... I can't recall the street but there was a corner shop right on the end of the street, on the corner of the streets leading up to the advertising signs on darlinghurst Rd
I used to frequent the Cross thirty years ago. You will be surprised to learn that many of the signboards especially near the railway station are still the same. Almost nothing has changed in all these years.
Well just seen Australia from you're aspect of view. Otherwise couldn't afford to travel these porch place. Thanks for showing us this wonderful place and poverty sucks here lol. 😬😬
Thanks Tom. It was a walk down "memory lane" for me. I grew up in Potts Point and remember it over 65 years ago! Some of the buildings haven't changed, but the businesses certainly have. I do remember strip joints and "Les Girls" back in the 1950's but there were a lot more genteel shops, not so much fast food places. I would not feel safe walking the streets as I did as a child because of the druggies etc. There were many famous artists living there 65 years ago, and only a few harmless alcoholics in the back lanes. Cecily
Still a great neighbourhood, no-where quite like it. It has changed dramatically in the last 5-6 years, and especially since the 90's. Back then it was a very different place where you had to be alert, and ofcourse at night it was a complete zoo. Today it's safer than the suburbs, there's no cause for concern as long as you mind your own business, a fantastic community of locals
its awesome...how Australian build they country...its not really large road way but tidy and no traffic jam at all...I hope Indonesian can learn about it...Im Indonesian and I love Indonesia and Love Australia too...Salam from Jakarta Indonesia..
Gleb Sokolov Yep! That’s why I left. I came from Europe, migrated there but if it’s the same where you came from, why leave? It didn’t made sense to me to be separated from friends and family 30+ years ago. I was looking for something totally different.
Great video. I'm from Sydney and I love watching stuff like this, keep it up :) By the way, if you're from any of the major cities in America like New York, Kings Cross is not that bad compared to some of the places I've heard about.
I find Potts Point a beautiful suburb. I love it here. The streets look lovely to walk around looking at the old fashioned little homes and cute simple stores. I'm a simple man. The city around is littered with amazing monuments and stone buildings, and some hidden Egyptian symbols scattered around the city. The city parks are beautiful especially the Archibald fountain, In potts point I've never felt safer than before in my life. I feel like I can become who I want in this place. 90 percent of the people I've met momentarily were nice men and women mostly old, I get along better with the wiser. Also darlinghurst Street had its good days I must admit, it was original. I'm 30 years old now though I remember it being wild, and I can't imagine the stories before my time. But kings cross is crap now. The wild junk days are over. Macleay Street should follow with its nice strip all the way through darlinghurst St. I'd love to set a business in this area catering to the people and myself. Myself am from Granville a High school drop out running with fools and like a fool I wound up in Sydney jail, like 5 times. I'm here because I found a cheap joint, by chance it was here for this price. I haven't been here since I was a kid. Its nice. I feel safe, the most are clever people. Not bad my kind of suburb. Unfortunately I don't fit in. Or maybe I can fit myself in with honest hard work and charity and praying. Praying for humility praying for knowledge and wisdom and understanding. I don't belong anywhere. But fuck it I'm 250 bucks down for rent this week. I gotta sort this out once and for all. Peace.
In all actuality, Potts Point is a pretty dark, shady, and unsafe area. Yesterday I have learned the young fools are walking up to people here and trying to knock them out with one punch, complete strangers, just POP. What's this sad world coming to?
Hi Tom l’m you fc if you come to Thailand please come to visit us at pattaya city we lived at south pattaya city soi 13/1 219/78 name The Travel market.
Yeah, I realized there are a lot of Asians there. There were more Asians than Caucasians. Not being racist, just curious. By the way, I'm African American.
This was great, brought back a lot of good memories!
Congrats Tom Hall. Amazing video for people like me that wants travel to Australia. Thank you! Nice Job.

Sydney generally gets more rain that Melbourne and the maximums in winter are about 3 degress celcius warmer in Sydney.
Very intresting thank you
Melbourne is very unique we often see all 4 seasons in one day!
Do they still have internet cafe’s there?
South West In the city they would. 👍
Yep
Australia is much more European than I thought, I though it was more like America! Great country though, Greetings from Russia!

Why would you visit a food city like Sydney and eat at the same place every night?

Great Video. & 5:59 i live there down Hughes Street
One of perfect spot in Sydney
Kings Cross appears relatively neat and clean nowadays yet somehow still can't escape the stigma of tackiness.
Ahh my great great grandfather Potts owned Potts point but gambled it all away that’s why it’s called Potts point
Very nice
Tonight that neighborhood is a hell with many happy and drugs!
thanks for posting. hope i make it on 2016!!!

Tom Hall seriously? i thought the Aussies are happy and less violent??
akathetruthteller One would love to think so but this is one really SHADY area full of druggies and hoodlums. Not safe at all.

Potts point is my danger zone in my opinion, I still don't trust going there
So weird how similar Queens street, Auckland and Potts point seem.
