    Seigler customer service is un matched. Just got back from the factory with my buddy. Wes basically rebuilt the inside of the reel in front of us for free and gave my buddy all the spare parts to keep for in the future. Seigler all the way

    You have done ot again. This is the best review I have seen on 2 premier reels. It give you a good deep inside insight into the what goes on inside behind the hype. Had my maged SG on my beach caster. The mag has made it so controllable flufing up overruns a thing of the past.

    Great review. I've been trying to find all the reviews that i can for these Seigler reels. You and the kid have been really helpful. Now only if you could get ur hands on the OS reel...

    I talked to Seigler yesterday about service and they charge $25 processing fee plus a $10 shipping charge for a total of $35 for service and a routine inspection. Available on their website.

    Great comparison. I was running a different Accurate but I recently purchased a couple Okuma Alijos reels. Different price point from these but I enjoyed fishing my Accurates for many years. I'd LOVE to see you do this for bigger game reels. Something like a Penn International, Okuma Makaira, Avet EW series, Accurate Twin Drag. Not a fan of conventional Shimano reels but you could include them too.

    How did the drag fail on the reel ?? It’s very simple inside. It’s hard to imagine that happening to it . Is it a engineering issue of the design?? Any information on how to fix or avoid this from happening will much be appreciated thank you.🙏

    Thank you. Great review on the essential points. I'm almost ready to go with the SG. The other reel I'm considering is the Shimano Torium 14. Your thoughts on that one? Question...what is the mag and its importance? Thanks.

      To keep tension on the spool stopping it overrun during a cast when used for surf casting from the beach or uptiding from the boat

      @@PimpMyReel thank you. Appreciate your telling me. I thought that's what the break knob and thumb were for. I've got a lot to learn. I just bought the SG and based on your enthusiastic review of the SG Narrow, thinking about that one too. Thx again. PS - I just subscribed too.

    Because of the angle of the gearbox, it's extremely uncomfortable to cast. It's one of those things you don't notice until your hand is hurting. The handle also gets in the way of casting due to the gearbox pointing toward the caster. With that said, its probably the best casting reel in its class. Super smooth, long casting. I spoke to Wes directly and although he seems to be a nice guy, he never responded to my email about service i needed on my reel. It took 6 months to get someone to send me a reel foot.
    Oh well, if you get one, make sure you get a model with the gearbox pointing away from the caster.

      Seigler SG has 30lb of drag so I would go for that. Third choice would be a Maxel Ocean or a Poseidon 300r, botyh have serious drag!

    but you have to reconsider before buying a seigler/truth reels. i find it difficult to get my email replied, in fact no replied at all when i ask them about the schematics for my truth reel. otherwise, the accurate team responded my email / problems really well. the after sales thing is important to consider before buying a product like this

      Echo That. Still waiting for reply's to emails from last year. Plenty of stuff on facebook how about answering emails? Seigler here's an idea. Why don't you put a copy of the manual in the bag with the reel. explaining that you need to register the reel for there warranty, tell then how to clean and look after there reels, link to Wes's youtube video. Then when the reel is registered acknowledge there registration and tell them where there nearest service and warranty centre is and give them a platform for feedback. Don't get me wrong I think the reels are the dogs dangly let down by customer support. Back up your superb reel with 1st class customer service. Allen in The UK.

      Good point. This is what drives me nuts about, and I not singling out Seigler for this, companies that espouse all of this jingoistic crap in their marketing and when they clutter their product with it. Not sure if they, and now I'll cite Seigler directly, don't get that their product will speak for itself. All of this jingoism means nothing if the reel doesn't perform. I mean, I love the build quality and simple design of Seiglers but they cluttered up the side plate with their company motto instead of following the design ethos of keeping things brilliantly simple

    All I know is when I call Seigler I can talk to Wes Seigler. Lifetime warranty. Better drag and more line. Made and machined in America . New state ofbthe art factory in Virginia Beach.

    • @nik-lc3ob
      @nik-lc3ob 6 років тому +1

      Yes, that's what I use the SG for. The good thing is that because of its design, you can really overfill the spool without problems, and then you can achieve a higher amount of line retrieved per handle turn.

    I'd like to know someone who gives a damn about a reel bag... cool and all, but when it comes down to it I'd rather seigler cut that off they're manufacturing cost and drive the price of the reel down. Don't get me wrong, fantastic reel for the money, but if it could be cheaper it should be.

      Would you rather have a box that you throw away or a reel bag that you can continue to use? Cost on each is about the same or even less for the bag.

    • @davidayala1974
      @davidayala1974 6 років тому +1

      It would be a hell of a lot more useful to get rid of the bag and offer a reel cover instead. When the reel is on a rod in storage or in transit This is where the protection is needed. To keep the dust off of while in storage and to protect against scratches while in transit.

    Your size comparison on the screw size is meaningless at best. The Seigler reel has aluminum (softer by far) screws versus hardened stainless on the Accurate. You are not likely to strip the head on the Accurate screws unless you are using an ill fitting tool. You would more likely strip the threads in the aluminum frame before damaging the screw head.

    • @rider660r
      @rider660r 5 років тому +5

      You never mechanically worked on much have you?
      Ever hear of galvanic corrosion or bimetallic corrosion?I just hate when car,motorcycle,or any company use steel bolts through or into aluminum parts and would love to see the engineer so I could beat their head with a ballpeen.They're always frozen together and sometimes a PITA and even strip.Then toss saltwater into the picture.....ha,where is that hot wrench..Oxy/Acetylene.
      Even though those Boss 400 screws are maybe stainless,that 1.3mm will strip super easy,many may even possibly been stripped when tightening them,they can strip that easy.
      You can add moly paste to the 400 screws but it's not a 100% cure,especially when saltwater is in the equation.

    cant really give the seigler a point for a life time warranty, because all they will do is change the name of the company and they would no longer have to honor the warranty.

    • @howabouthetruth2157
      @howabouthetruth2157 7 років тому +9

      donmige81.........You are totally clueless, and your comment is total bullshit. FYI........The ONLY reason they changed from Release, then to Truth, and finally to Seigler, is because even after thorough & LEGAL trademark searches for the first 2 names, in which they were given the go-ahead, it turned out the first 2 names were already being used somewhere, somehow........and both of those entities attempted to extort money from Seigler by SUING THEM. For starters, the first 2 names used had nothing to do with fishing reels, and those greedy assholes could've, and SHOULD'VE just left it alone........but they "thought" Wes Seigler would simply pay them royalties FOREVER. I think that the patent/trademark offices & attorneys should be forced to pay WES SEIGLER for any costs & damages for all that money & time wasted on FAULTY trademark searches due to GROSS NEGLIGENCE in NOT DOING THEIR DAMNED JOBS PROPERLY BY WRONGFULLY GIVING WES SEIGLER THE GO AHEAD TWICE IN A ROW FOR THE "RELEASE" AND "TRUTH" TRADEMARKS. BOTTOM LINE: Wes Seigler did NOTHING wrong, and GOT SCREWED OVER TWICE IN A ROW DUE TO GROSS NEGLIGENCE ON BEHALF OF THOSE ENTITIES HE PAID FOR TRADEMARK SEARCHES. It's bad enough to pay your hard earned money to a person, group, or company for services UN-RENDERED, but it's much worse when that negligence results not 1, but 2 LAWSUITS IN A ROW. So you see, the name changes had NOTHING to do with "voiding warranties", because they are the same superb fishing reels WITH LIFETIME WARRANTY REGARDLESS OF THE TRADEMARK NAME. It's too bad you won't attempt to say that bullshit to Wes Seigler's face, so we could all watch him kick your ass all over the parking lot, because I wouldn't blame Mr. Seigler one bit for doing it, due to the fact YOU DESERVE IT. .........YOUR LESSON FOR THE DAY: >>>>> DON'T GO ASSUMING OR TALKING SHIT ABOUT SOMETHING IN WHICH YOU ARE TOTALLY CLUELESS. And "Release/Truth/Seigler" casting reels are among the best, if not THE BEST reels being made today.
