Here I demo some presets on the new Sequential Prophet 10 rev 4 Synthesizer. This synth is a Prophet 5 rev 4 (which is a reissue of the original Prophet 5) but with another 5 voices! This means lots of polyphony and boy does it sound amazing!
In this video, I have captured audio through Ableton Live, but with no prosessing or FX used, I did level match in post-production some of the quieter patches but was only a volume bump in Adobe Premier.
The Prophet 10 rev 4 is a polyphonic analog synth with a mono output and no onboard FX.

This is serial #056. It has a new main board from Sequential that corrects the known filter issue. Sounds wonderful and this is with zero FX! Raw sound and it sounds this good? DANG! Thank you Dave Smith and Sequential :)

Many thanks, Paolo! Yeah, Im super happy to be able to add this to my stack, my very 1st Sequential/DSI synth ever! They did an awesome job from the demos I've heard and you would be one to know having owned a couple of originals, so that's high praise and makes me feel even better about it 😁. I'd be too afraid to buy a vintage one, so this reissue like with the Korg ARP 2600 and the MiniMoog reissue are super cool, they're as close to "the real deal" as I'll get, I hope Roland jumps in at some point, I like the Cloud stuff and the Botiques, but man I'd love some authentic reissues from them as well!

Hey Markus! She's a beautiful synth, looks an sounds a like! Yeah, that LED curtain is super cool, I can pump video into it and have some software that I use to generate the graphics, past demos I've done fairly recently like the ARP 2600, V-Synth and JD-800 I tried to incorporate using it. Works great, I even watched Star Trek II wrath of Kahn on it lol

Great demo! Was about to get an OB6 or P6 but after hearing the way this board sounds I have to save up a little more to get it. Do you just use a single guitar cable for mono output or are you using a balanced cable to to a left and right for stereo? Just curious on the best way to record this thing.
I'm using a single TRS cable, works fine, but could use a TS cable, I just don't have any of them around.
Excelent vídeos! A question: wich do you prefer, prophet 10 or slim phatty polychain?
Ooh, that's tough, but personally I think I prefer the polychained Phatty more, but the implementation unfortunately is buggy so the P10 wins because I'm able to play for more than 10 minutes at a time before having to reboot 😁.
@@MarshalArnold I think I'll try to build this little phatty polychain. I already have a slim phatty and I'll get three or four more and a little phatty to control them. Will I be able to create the presets in one and save them all at the same time?

I don't know the difference between different revisions, but the filters on this one sound 'tasty' for my ears.
In deed, lovely filters on this synth! Already got BlueARP DM hooked up, next demo vid will be integrating it in and a jam with the ARP 2600 and this bad boy!

Don't think it has a 001, startup is 111, but haven't confirmed in the manual just yet
How do you choose between a Prophet 10, Prophet-6 and OB-6 ?

Now I need to learn to use them. Ha. Lots of possibilities. Watching too much Marshal and GEOSynths.

What's better than two Prophet 5's? I'll tell ya. One Prophet 6 with stereo outputs....
P6 is awesome for sure. I like though that the reissues are the same as the OG. Stereo can be done in the DAW, sure not exactly the same, but then again that's a selling point for the P6 still, that plus the other differences. For me though the P10 was the way to go.

I may do that at some point. These patches are the factory presets, pretty wonderful to get such great presets to start that's for sure! Still, I plan to dig in myself and see where I can take it... or probably more accurately where it takes me 😊

I really don't get what sounds so fantastic about this synth. Ob6, matriarch, Jdxa best synths on the market imo
Lots to choose from, wich is good. Seems that things such as what sounds best is a subjective thing, not to mention for me personally, I love the look and feel of what is essentially a reissue of a classic.

@@jakewells9788 favorite mono, is my Korg ARP 2600 FS, fav analog poly is my Alesis Andromeda A6, favorite digital synth is my Waldorf Kyra.
Sounds gnarly and unstable.
It's all in the vintage knob, can losen or tighten up the behavior quite a bit. This was a quick scan through some presets, so you can def hear the looseness in some of these while others sound super tight. Makes it super diverse I think 😁

I can pretty much make the same sounds with the 08. I’ve had the 08 since 2012… I know what it sounds like. Listened to this on my studio monitors.
I have an 08 as well, they're close, but seems like the 08 is much "brighter" if that makes sense. The filters have a slightly different character, but in general I'd say yeah the 08 can get super close.
So boring, we need a sequencer and an arpegiator inside !!!!
Dude you have a lot of gear that can emulate this keyboard and with probably more features and effects. I honestly want to know if you poured money into this just to keep up with the jones or for collection purposes. This isn't trolling. I'm seriously trying to figure out the reason people are draining money into something that sounds and functions like it did back when it was out. No one is gonna know once these are mixed into a song.
I saw you pose this question to someone else I follow, is interesting why this bothers you so much, but I'll answer. For me, while I do have an extensive synth collection, I have no other synths that offer the filter characteristics of a Prophet 5/10, those Curtis filters are pretty amazing, but I had been mostly a Moog guy. This is my 1st Sequential synth, ever. The reason I pulled the trigger on this specifically is because 1. as mentioned the filter character and 2. I want companies to provide authentic reissues of their classic vintage gear, when they do I'm there with cash in hand. Is as close as I can get to owning an OG Prophet 5/10 created by the man himself, Dave Smith has a lot of value to me as well. Hope that helps.
@@MarshalArnold I pose it at different places to get different opinions and in case no one responds. It doesn't bother me. I made my choice not to get it and posted why I didn't . It does not bother me why anyone decided to buy it. Lol. Those words alone sound goofy. But I am definitely curious if people are buying it as a collection piece, addiction or just a way to keep up with other youtubers/show off how much they've spent on gear (yes people do that) and most importantly I'm trying to find out if there is anything I've really missed by deciding not to buy it in favor of another synth that has more options in the edits and effects department. Hell no it doesn't bother me if anyone got it. It's not my money but it's cool to try to figure out WHO is really about the music versus the posers. Thanks for responding to me respectfully dude. Props and enjoy your joint. Would be dope if you posted a video in a few months to say how you feel about it at that current time once the honey moon phase is done.
@@mpmi7588 I see, well I do post a good chunk of videos that are of music I've created with these synths, I think it's some good stuff and I hope that helps elevate me above poser status lol. My channel is filled with live studio sessions, completed and released work, demos and talking head interviews and opinion panels so lots here. Have a look if you've got time.
Thing is that people are curious about these instruments so I also do demos, like this and they tend to get plenty of visibility but in no way pay me back for the investment. I don't make content because I'll make money in fact I would be broke if I tried to do that for a living, pretty niche market and I'm not about to blow a bunch of fluff at folks, not in my character so I'll probably never be a huge force on UA-cam and that's cool, but to me I'm about using these things and making the best possible music I can, in this case I could use some Sequential sizzle, is time and the reissue is exactly how Sequential got me to invest, I couldn't be happier.

I actually asked you BECAUSE of the gear I've seen you with over the years. Dope stuff man. I can only dream of having such gear. But In no way am I hater of the ones that have. Just like to get answers to help make my decisions or see if I made the correct decisions. But yeah you've never came off as a show off or poser that's cool. Your response was even cooler as you didnt seem to attack me other than the initial question of it bothering me when in fact it didnt. So thanks again man. Keep up the good work. I'll keep an eye out for that "How I (you) feel" update on the P5 later on in the next year.
Yeah, sorry about that, I should not have jumped to conclusions on regards to your motivation, my apologies. I've had folks ask similar questions or stuff like ".. for what you paid for x synth you could buy this and that.." I've always been of the opinion that synths are tools, each having some unique feature, character or UI element that is fun or helpful to use. The right tool for the right job kind of thing and having fun doing it! Is hard to really get that across sometimes, and something my GF still doesn't understand either lol. To her they all look like pianos, and why do I need so many pianos lol.
I've built up this collection over 15 years, so not an overnight thing. I hope you and everyone else for that matter eventually is able to build their dream setup! Takes time, most of us don't really make a living with these instruments so it's really a passion for me 😁! The cool thing is that I love making music, these are some of the best tools available and help get me where I want to go.
