How did you determine what material and thickness that would be needed to make the caliper bracket, and know it would be strong enough to handle the forces of braking? I seriously admire you skill, and attention to the smallest detail!!!
I think a lot of it is just eyeballing it, taking measurements from parts that you can buy and experience.
