I watched this video and was interested... Watched a couple more videos and went to my local farm and home and came home with one..Assembled it this morning and ran it all day at just half throttle.. I am super impressed so far. Not Bad Heath and Rachel. Once it gets Broken in a little bit, it should be faster then. Did a great Job Splitting that Maple up, and filling up that Tote. Ron, glad you’re healing up. Adding a splitter would be a great addition to your process for sure. I like swinging an axe but it’ll definitely wear on ya.
Hey Heath and Rachel. Im saving up my UA-cam money to buy a new splitter. I was looking at a local box store splitter for the same price but this one is twice as fast.
Heath I still have my Husky 35 ton it’s on its second engine and still going strong. Now a days it’s my backup, and it gets the nasty knots and big rounds .
i appreciate seeing the the gear that the average person is going to purchase - the high end gear is nice to dream about but at the end of the day it needs to reflect reality. thanks. i recently purchased a 28 ton Oregon, great splitter with one major flaw in my opinion-there are only 2 small holes for the slash to fall out of the rail and therefore needs to be cleaned often.
I look at all log splitters honestly but now that I have the commercial machines I'm all about cycle times on splitters this is a fast box store splitter. Nice demonstration I've never seen this splitter before.
Another new buy?? He's already got Rachel 🐰, what else does he need??? 😁 That is pretty fast for a box stores splitter. Faster than my Dirty Hand Tools unit for sure!!
Well I'd have to say that looks like a keeper. Didn't take Rachel hardly anytime to figure it out. Especially for that resplit it doesn't take up a lot of room, seemed relatively quiet. Believe it will be a great addition to the arsenal
I had a Yardmax 25 ton that did pretty well speed wise and it pushed through pretty much everything I gave it. Added a stroke limiter on the beam so it would only retract to 20" or so.
Right at 5:15 I can see why a machine like this would not be the machine for me. She puts in a piece of wood that unfortunately lays right inside of the channel causing it to push out on the sides of the channel when the wood is split. This machine is limited only two pieces bigger than the gap in that channel. I frequently need to make smaller splits. This looks like an excellent machine for breaking down rounds but not so much for re-splitting for bundles. I think that is a job best served by a vertical splitter.
I had a splitter very similar same engine was a black diamond 25ton so 4in cylinder 2in rod 13gpm pump i still have it or frame at least now has 13hp engine predator engine 19gpm pump 4.5 by 2.25 rod from rugged made their 28 ton and a 25gallion hydro tank on side now have had it since 2018
Try a kinetic splitter. No comparison on cycle time. I just bought a used one for $500, did a little maintenance on it, and, holy cow. Game changer. Phenomenal for resplitting, too.
The $500 machine i got wasaPower King. It was a total whimp at first, wouldn't split anything bigger than 4" diameter. Then I realized that the clutches between the flywheels and pinion were so loose that they weren't doing anything. I tightened them up and it was a 1000% improvement. We will see how it holds up over time, but it already has shown me what I wanted to see. This type of machine can greatly improve our productivity. When this machine dies, we may get a Super Split.
@ I wonder if that was the issue with ours? It was weak, but it sent a lot of wood flying too! If you have wood flying, try running it with the rpm’s a little lower I know Ken from York firewood ran his like that with better luck.
That Hyper Split is much faster than the Black Diamond I started with five years ago. I worked that thing to death and like you said the welds started giving way and the wedge wanted to pop out.
Any tool that makes your life easier worth buying. That being said you have enough splitters/processors to be producing 10,000+ full cords per year, time to hire 10 people and step up your game. PS I still have my 35 ton Huskee as a backup splitter when the Ultra is down like it is now because of broken pull cord thanks to me letting my brother borrow it and his new employee broke it.
We have a Tractor Supply and Family Farm Home or whatever it is but nothing on their web site. Wouldn't be a bad back up for my little 30 cord a season operation, specially if it's under 1k!
I would love to get one. Not available online and not out here on the West Coast in Washington that I can tell. All you Easties have the good stuff, wolf ridge, Eastonmade, ect.
That's a cool little towing device. With the increased speed of that splitter, wat h for increased chance of flying pieces. I saw one before the halfway mark pop in her direction kinda quick, and it didn't even look like a difficult round.
If all of your wood was the same length as what you split today, would you dare to speed up things by putting cylinder stops (spring-loaded donuts) on the cylinder rod to limit the travel when it retracts?
I know someone that had a contract with a few gas station in the area to supply them with firewood bundles and he had a few stands.. All he ever bought was box store wood splitters every 2 to 3 years he would buy a new one but he always modified them to cut the cycle time way down.. He was retired and he did this as a side job. He never wanted a commercial splitter as he said I buy a new one every couple years, modify it and sell it for same price he paid for it.after. He had a little tractor with a loader and a table set up to load the would on with the tractor and a little conveyer to take would drop in these steel mesh bins he got from some factory auction... He was a hydraulic engineer and he had those cheap wood splitters working fast with only a 5 or 6hp engines. Never used a Honda as he said they were just a copy of a real motor

good video and job really nice for $ 900 all you need to do your own fire wood. if mine gives out i may buy one. nice song. take care, be safe and well.
Why is the stroke so short ? They are not even stroking half way down the piece of firewood. Even if it partially splitting the wood, trying to finish it by hand is an excellent way to get hurt.
Heath, that doesn’t seem like a 5.8 second cycle time,…especially all the way down and back. 7:58 Appears to be more like 8+ seconds, which seems to be a little bit of false advertising, lol. Still looks to be faster than most box store splitters though. I’d buy it for a backup. Sorry, I commented before the end of the video, lol. I rescind my observed timing of 8+ seconds. Six is even better.
It's faster than the typical comparable splitter, but it seems to me that's got to come at the expense of splitting power, because it's got a 208 cc 6.5 hp engine, and power is power. You could, in theory, gain some speed by running the pump faster in the return cycle when you don't need hardly any power at all, but that's not what's being done. I looked up the manual for this splitter, and inside the manual on the specifications sheet is says '22 ton splitter'. I suspect that they're trading speed for strength, just like a tall gear in a car or truck. The fact that it fails to meet the advertised cycle speed even when unloaded is also a concern. I don't think breaking in the engine is going to increase the speed by 20%. It has a 3 year warranty on hydraulics/5 years on the mechanicals, so that's good. Since the 25 ton sticker is pretty suspect, I'd like to see a test with some tough firewood to see if it can handle it.
We need a measurement on the cylinder diameter. The fat stem makes it return fast. These people may not have recorded the speed accurately. Try timing five cycles and divide by 5.

Hyper splitter down the road from me Heath $899.99.
Awesome, that’s what we got it for on sale.
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors I'm buying one my country line is slow
@@ryanfoley9999 you can probably sell the County Line for about the same!
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors I think my brother wants it
@hardworkingmanoutdoors Hey Heath do you know anyone that would buy a 33" walk behind Worldlawn mower.
👍👏
Thanks Will.
It splits wood that has already been split. Big deal. The only thing
going for it is the tables on each side. That's my take on it.
I’m sure it will split more than that. This was just the job of the day. We’ll test it more for sure.
I had a wood woman, but she wore out.
Hopefully Rachel never wears out.
Seems impressive for the price, I’ll keep my Ultra though.
Definitely not an Ultra but for the price it seems legit.
doesn't look any faster than mine... anyway..
It runs pretty well, they claim two times faster than the competition not sure about that though.
Looks like wasted money!! AXIS IS ALL U NEEDED FOR THIS....
The axis is all we need but a lot of people only need something like this so we figured we’d check it out.
Nothing especial about this splinter To slow
price
Not sure what you have in this price range that beats it??
Jake, it was on sale for $900
What a waste of money.
I 100% disagree.
Hey Heath and Rachel , that’s a nice box store splitter . 👍🏻🪵
Thanks Del, it has some nice features for sure.
