I find your patience, persistence, and skills inspiring. Your episodes are addictive . plus your filming is excellent. Thanks for all the hours of positive living skills!
You can’t avoid the modern world even when you try o escape. It always catches you. Just found your channel and watching from the beginning. Keep it up Russ
I am still amazed you lifted those walls all by yourself! I lifted mine alone too in 12 foot sections but I only put 4 studs and 1 piece of plywood on them to keep them square. That was heavy as I could clean and jerk by myself ! After the wall was up, I added the remaining studs and window framing. The drone footage is really neat! I'll have to find a friend who has one, so I can borrow it for the weekend. Either that or climb a tree ! Will raise another beer to you tonight.
I have been on my own Raspberry Rock marathon myself, starting from the beginning as well. These are great videos. So thrilled to find our own Canadian off grid folks.
Thanks Macca. The drone captures some really interesting views of the cabin that are just impossible to get any other way. Unfortunately, not my drone.
I started watching your vids with the semi viral one that popped off I think last week where you have to walk part of the way back out to your vehicle after a huge snow dump, I like to go back and start from the beginning when I can when I find someone has done something like you have, built your own place, so I can see how the whole thing came together, I'm always tempted to keep watching new as they pop up but I try to stay the course and keep watching from from the very beginning in sequential order...I think this is the first video I hear the ground track that I also heard in your more recent video... I'm looking forward to watching as this all comes together, when your wife first goes on camera ( I saw her in the video I watched where the dogs were so so excited to see her! Well and you of course!) ...I was surprised to a "kid" pop up in this video, so I guess you have children- or at least one...so many things to learn as I go along on this journey. I live in the Hamilton Area, Ontario. We are looking to a little hobby farm and become sort of "mini/ lite preppers" , lol...I see your solar panels - my husband is VERY keen to get these going when we finally find a new place :)
for standing a wall by your self here is how it can be done ... secure a 14 foot 4by4 to the floor but tight to the top plate and brace it so it wont fall over .... secure a board behind it so when its under pressure and tiping at the angle of the wall the bottom wont kick out ...screw an eye bolt int the 4by4 a bout a foot up ... attach a comealong to the eyebolt and run the cable up over the top of the 4by4 and back to the wall.rig the cable up so there is noway for the cable to come off the top . now you can jack the wall up with the comealong ...they make metal walk jacks that work like that .... you can go to google image to see what im talking about and how they work or you can also buy a wall jack for about 100 bucks that works like a handyman jack but slides up a 2by4 . if you opt for that kind make sure the 2by4 dont have big nots that will break under pressure
Where were you last summer when I needed you! LOL. I need to get some comealongs though, this I`m sure. I`ve used ratchet straps several times but they`re not the same.
i dont know if you have your siding on or not yet but when i was building houses with decks after i built the wall with the subsiding on i would attach 3 inch by 4 inch galvanized flashing to the wall and ontop of the deck joist run the vapor barrier over the flashing on the wall and put the decking on over the flashing ...i have also put the flashing ontop of the decking but in that case i would use 3 inch by 2 inch ... both ways have there plus and minus
With your 12ft section, and next 12ft section, and 4ft section ---why didn't you divide the lot into 3 sections and lift 9ft 4ins in the 3 lots? Was there a reason?
Truely amazing how much materials you've humped up there!

Thanks. It's a little scary doing it by yourself, amiright? Btw, the link to your blog in your "About" section is misspelled!
Yes it is scary doing it by yourself at times! Thanks for the catch on my broken link. I just fixed it.
I discovered you on Imgur. I've been having a Raspberry Rock marathon, starting with your first video. Love the videos!
Hey Tyler, I really should sneak some dickbutt into my videos for my Imgur brethren. Ha. Welcome to my channel!

Found the beginning of the cabin build. Beautiful spot!
Pat, this is City Girl's favourite video.
Nice drone footage. It's amazing what those Beavers have created.
Thanks Macca. The drone captures some really interesting views of the cabin that are just impossible to get any other way. Unfortunately, not my drone.

My wife keeps bugging me to buy one. They're expensive, though.
Great video Russ. 2nd time is always better. Lol
Step back in time to the beginning of the cabin..👍
Gerry this is one of City Girl's favourite videos.

You need some of those cordless extension cords!?!🏠🐕🦺🐕🦺🇨🇦👍👍👍👍
Wait, am I supposed to take a drink when you do? Got some catching up to do.
love video but can,t hear you with volum wide open on my computer
Hi Jeanette, sorry about that. The videos from last year aren't the best quality.
With your 12ft section, and next 12ft section, and 4ft section ---why didn't you divide the lot into 3 sections and lift 9ft 4ins in the 3 lots? Was there
a reason?
Poor planning.
That's a terrible idea. What time? Catching up on old videos. Be well.
ARE THOSE DECK SCREWS-ONLY DRY WALL SCREWS??YOU NEED GAL. OR TREATED,COATED SCREWS OR THEY WILL RUST,POP AND BREAK...
tongue is part of the cut plywood.
8:40 put 3 of those together and you would have the perfect pipe lol
😁👌👍✌👍👍
did you have to get a permit to build there?
Yes.
Haha just bought some of those saw horses, they are the worst! Cheap though...
From Canadian Tire? They go on sale for something like $12 once in a while. I certainly wouldn't pay any more.
