I think the harpies were just regular humans until he sucked and tortured the soul out of them. Then made them do other heinous things until he stripped them of humanity. Now they are just empty vessels, empty shells of human being without humanity left. This is actually way more disturbing when you think about it and actually happens in reality too.
I can't wait till disney makes a movie showing that these harpies aren't evil just misunderstood and actually good. It will be epic Baron Harkone will be a jolly saints Claus character and the harpies are good little elves that actually help people by eating turmors and cancer. I can't wait!
That actually would be okay in the Dune universe. It’s not like Star Wars where there is a good guy/bad guy scenario. Everybody in Dune is corrupt in one way or another. In Dune Messiah where the themes emerge, Paul turns out not to be a benevolent hero. So it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch.
Oh and they would have to be paedophiles as well to suit Disney new norms.

I had some serious Hellraiser Vibes when i saw them First. Liked it. 😅
1:14 was such a missed opportunity to show Feyd for what he really was - a privileged, entitled brat, a cheat, and a sub-par fighter. The white blade is poisoned and the only reason he defeats Lt. Lanville unshielded. He would have failed Lady Fenring's Gom Jabbar (never happened in book) and lost to Paul despite brining a poisoned barb to the fight.
In the books he’s a cheat. However in this movie adaptation Margot says he’s driven by Honor. So he’s likely not a cheat and does like 1:1 combat and didn’t like the people in the arena interfering with his fight. Therefore I do not think his blades are poisoned in this version of him.
Yeah I was wondering why he's supposed to be this 'bad-ass opponent' for Paul when he struggled against a prisoner...A skilled prisoner, but malnourished and weakened for sure.
Because the writer of the story never intended Feyd to be the best knife fighter in dune not even close.Sure hes very good, hes quick but hes never been in a fair fight in his life. Hes a clever cheat so that with his skills, it does make him dangerous.As far as honor goes none of the Harkonnens in the dune story have a sense of honor there's a hint that Feyd may have been a decent man if not raised by his uncle but that's as close as he comes to being honorable. The reason Feyd struggled against the prisoner and in the book would have lost to him in a fair fight is because that's how good the Atreides soldiers have become and is one of the reasons the emperor feared house Atreides.
@@louiespringin I would also wager at least for the movie is that Paul was overly ambitious in fighting Feyd and his prescient visions could not see past that moment on if he would make it out or not. Sure Feyd fought drugged opponents but in his fight with the Atredies soldier we see that he is a skilled fighter and that Paul was fighting inferior harkonen troops majority of the time. Now (again film wise) the two are pretty equal. Feyd has had 100’s of gladiatorial fights to practice (drugged opponents) and Paul has been in multiple truly life or death fights (prescient buff) so by the time they meet both of their buffs we’re pretty much non existent

Feyd in the book had a harem of women. Could these cannibal herpes be his harem? In the book the Baron made Feyd kill his harem of women after he tried to kill his uncle the Baron.
So, with this great evil that Harkonen, Bene Gesserit, House Corrino, Ixians and Bene Theilaxu represents, means that the Paul Atreides Jihad among universe and destruction of the great houses was a Bless for Dune Universe!
First of all they tell us nothing. The Harkonnen in the 84 film were even more gruesome. Rabban ripped out a tongue from a cow and ate it. The Harkonnens forced everyone to get surgery and installed heart plugs.
Speculation - could it possibly be implied that Feyd-Rautha himself also partook in cannibalism with his harpies at least occasionally? That could directly explain his extremely violent psychosis and sadomasochistic behavior through the infestation of prionic disorders into his system.
They should have their own movie.

What could've been really exciting in this movie if it had explored Prana-bindu training which gives practitioners near superspeed in close quarters combat. Because it focuses on precise control of nerves and muscles, the fighter's perception of time-space is drastically altered. The fights in the movie are really underwhelming and a bit mediocre, while in the book Paul can move at blinding speed which is why the Fremen called it the Weirding Way because it looked like magic to them. In the book Paul does have trouble beating Jamis at first mainly because he doesn't want to kill and he's only used to fighting with his personal shield. This type of fighting is taken a step further later in the books with the introduction of the evil Honored Matres, an all-women power hungry group that kill with their feet (near impossible to block deadly kicks). A missed opportunity to showcase a true sci-fi martial art.

Give me Navigators instead of cannibals. The only reason the DUNE universe can even move is due to the Spacing Guild Navigators. Feyd alone was bad enough, there was no need to make him fancy.
Navigators aren't actually introduced until Dune Messiah so they'll have a larger role for the third movie.

I disagree considering it try to condesne so much into one movie. I love the books but I will stick to the new movies even with the changes from books to movies it's a lot closer than the Lynch version. My opinion though.
@@raf686 the baron was not the baron from the book, not sadistic, threatening and in fact mild mannered, basically an office manager. feyd was just angst ridden manboy, the emperor had no opulence or grandeur, came across as a drunk grandfather, the beast did nothing, no ix, spacing guild or navigators, new version is a weak watered down, politically correct . Lynch's version will always be better.
@@raf686 Lynchs vision is far better, better set design, world building and concepts, sure it has problems. Villeneuve's version has good cgi and cinemaphotography. .. thats it.
@Roland_TB303 uhh no the world building alone I. The new dune movies have nothing on lynch. Sorry but with how much meat the books carried stuffing it into one film did jot do it justice not on sorry. World building. Dare I say more. I still disagree. I feel like lynch version had way more issues for than the new movies. Though I will say this, I am glad many based of fans and word of mouth choose the new versions of Dune.

Dune was one of the most boring film experiences Ive ever had, couldn’t finish it even after 1h in. You guys enjoy though.
