yall I gotta mention it, in the original Greek myth, Polites doesn’t die till Scylla. He was one of the men Circe took, then died after Ody sacrificed him. That is why the original mutiny of his crew is so hard hitting, because they were valid. They realized his overall goal was to make sure HE got home, if the others did too he would’ve been happy but that wasn’t his sole focus. They watched him sacrifice his very best friend and Eurylochus had to make the decision to keep letting people die and to trust in Odysseus's plan, or to do as the crew wanted and priortize them. Also i think it was just his ego that got him to do smth so stupid, even in the musical. If he just spared Cyclops, maybe Athena wouldve hung around but he openly disobeyed her by yelling his name when she told him not to do anything elsr. Ruthlessness could've helped him avoid everything, but not even kindness would've brought the level of devastation that his ego did.

The only reason Odysseus didn't give his name at first was so that he could later (when the cyclops fell asleep due to lotus) come in and steal his sheep and he wouldn't know who to blame. But when he's leaving, you have to realize that under normal circumstances the moment Odysseus left that island there was jack and shit that the Cyclops could do. The only reason he actually did something after was because he was Poseidon's son. So being real here, it's not that dumb of a move and it pisses me off that everyone always goes on to say how dumb of a move it is when it was god damned common in that time for it to happen.

So I'd say, come back and watch your videos in about a year and you will see that you're wrong and they are very good, not bad like you think they are. By disconnecting yourself from your work and viewing it as someone else's, you can better judge it, and you will realize it isn't bad you were just biased.
Maybe it is just that watching a freaking _cyclops_ kill a bunch of soldiers and say he’s gonna kill all six hundred of them is just so disturbing that the satisfaction he felt went away as he realized they might be watching a massacre of a hundred people 😟
