- Neuroscience, psychology and data science merch! Book recommendations!
A great way to support the channel and to help us to keep going is to check out our merch shop! My wife has created tons of really cool neuroscience, data science and psychology themed shirts, mugs and other gifts.

You can also help the channel by checking out one of my favorite neuroscience books! If you're like me though and don't have time for a physical book then consider listening to one of these on Audible. You can get one of these for free by signing up for a free trial. Even if you cancel before the trial is up, our channel still gets some much needed support!
Incognito: The Secret Lives of the Brain: amzn.to/32kL35B
The New Mind Readers: What Neuroimaging Can and Cannot Reveal about Our Thoughts: amzn.to/3leZuyP
Descartes' Error: Emotion, Reason, and the Human Brain: amzn.to/3HA1zyR
In Search of Memory: The Emergence of a New Science of Mind: amzn.to/3ctJTqj
Connectome: How the Brain's Wiring Makes Us Who We Are: amzn.to/3DFzaov
Are you frustrated because you want to read as much as you can but you can never find the time to pick up a book? I noticed as I got older and busier that I was reading less and less every year. Audible was an absolute game changer! I was able to listen to all the books I wanted to and it was all during the down time moments where reading a physical book was impossible (driving my car, doing the dishes, out on a run, working in the yard..). In the last 5 years I've now listened a total of 4 months 20 days and 8 hours and have managed to listen to over 200 books. They do a free trial and give you your first book for free so give it a try and see if you get sucked in like I did.

Consider checking out my udemy course on group dynamics and social psychology!
If you enjoy my lectures than you might also enjoy my online course on group dynamics and the ways in which groups influence our behavior. www.udemy.com/course/social-p...
This is the first lecture in the Cognitive Neuroscience course. It outlines the history of brain science from early philosophical inquiries through the biological and psychological advances that modern science has made possible. This discipline is about the merging of the biological and psychological sciences and allows us to look at how the cellular machinery of the nervous system gives rise to our perceptual reality.
This was the first undergraduate course that I ever taught and this was my first ever lecture. There are many things I wish I could have done better and nerves had me talking fast at times but the content is rich and I think it is worth diving into and exploring! I absolutely love studying the brain and I hope that this course gives others a way to learn this material in a stress free way.
The videos in this course have been edited to remove personal information, class specific information and sections where students were asking questions (I don't have their permission to share their questions). - Наука та технологія
Thank you for posting these lectures! I’m taking my first cognitive neuroscience class this next quarter and I want to have a foundation of knowledge to build on.
I'm really glad you enjoyed them! I love this topic and hope that others can be inspired a little bit to learn more as well.
Just completed my neuroscince degree and looking forward to doing Masters in Cognitive Neuroscience. These lectures are relly good. Thank you!
I'm really glad you enjoyed them! Best of luck with your Masters degree :)
This is very well done! You've explored the introduction of both cognitive psychology and neuroscience very thoroughly
Thanks so much! I'm really glad that you enjoyed the content. I hope to put out more soon.
Thank you for sharing this. I've only started your course and I already find it engaging and useful. 😊
I'm very glad that you're enjoying it! I wish there were more teachers that made their material freely available
Thanks a lot for uploading this high-quality lecture! I started a brain and cognition course this semester but didn't attend the first several lectures due to some issues. This is just what I need to catch up!
I'm so glad that it was useful for you! It's amazing what kind of free information you can share and access on a platform like this.
This audio makes me juggle three thoughts at the same time. One on the content, one on the underlying bare conscious interruptions with words, and what does it all mean? Lol
These video are fantastic and super helpful. Thank you!!!! Do you intend to put one up on language? I'm used to your style now and thought I'd ask before searching others :)
I'm really glad you enjoyed them! With it being a 10 week course though, I was only able to fit in so much... Language was definitely one that I wanted to cover but was unable to. I am currently planning on making more content but I am also a father and a busy researcher so it'll be awhile before those are up. Language will definitely be on the list though! Make sure to subscribe so that you get a notification when it drops :)
Thank you for sharing these lectures online! They are very useful.
Could you share the textbook used, or a list of recommended readings?
And, I guess it won't be that easy, but would it be possible to share practice problems or assessments?
I'm not sure about the entire course, but this specific lecture is based on the textbook "Cognitive Neuroscience - The Biology of the Mind" by M. Gazzaniga, R. Ivry, and G. Mangun. I have the fifth edition and this lecture matches chapters 1 and 3 in the book.
The lecture and contents are incredible! Thank you!
I'm really glad you enjoy them! I'll be putting out new content in the coming weeks that is less college course format that I hope you'll enjoy as well.
@@thecellularrepublic9844 Awesome! Eagerly looking forward to your new posts!
THANK YOU FOR THIS! I just graduated in biology and was focused in studying botany, but I always enjoyed psychology and merging it with biological sciences. I am finally trying to change my path so I can be prepared for a different masters. Your lessons are clear and well explained. Thank you.
Do you have a bibliographical recommendation?
You're very welcome! I recorded all of the lectures for my class to have an extra resource but I figured that they should be available as well to anyone that might be interested. I'm glad you're enjoying them :)
Thank you for the lectures! Is there a textbook recommended for this course?
BLESS YOU
Great lecture. Thanks a lot for sharing!
I'm glad you enjoyed it! I think education should be a lot more free and accessible so I'm happy to share it. If you check out the live section on my channel, we do a podcast (the social brain) every couple of weeks where we dive into these same topics in a non academic and more practical way.
@@thecellularrepublic9844 Amazing. I will be listening to it!
Amazed to hear neurons were only discovered in the early 1870s, as Dostoevsky has a character describing a neuronal brain in The Brothers Karamazov which was written in 1879-1880. I wonder how he managed to be so caught up with the cutting edge of brain science!
That's a fascinating bit of history! Thanks for sharing! I do know that Dostoevsky was very up to date with the leading philosophy at the time and in the late 1800s, philosophy and science were still pretty intricately linked.
wow
This is so strange: when I can't hear, I think that I can't hear, the volume increases. On the other hand, it could be part of the recording of the speaker turning his head. If you do that enough it seems like mesmerism.
The sound is like a sine wave. Can we make it a proper sound? This is hard to follow with a sound whose volume follows a sine wave.
These were originally recorded for students to have something to study for the class that I taught. It was recorded with a mic sitting on the podium and I moved around a bit which messes with the audio. I've since fixed this on the newer classes that I post by using a lapel mic.@@alexekuznetsov
is it possible for me to attend for an examination in this course and to receive a certificate ?
I WILL THIS ONE DAY YES INDEED THANKYOY
To Which university do these courses belong?
They were created and taught by me so they technically belong to me. They were taught at the University of Oregon.
great job, very informative- content is good, we need to get you more exposure, thanks for posting... please don't give up on the idea of putting these up, it took a little bit of time, but eventually, Jordan Peterson hit the event horizon by doing the same thing.
Thanks for the kind words! I am definitely looking to make more content outside the classroom and post it here in the future. I hope you'll like those as well
I did not know Dennis Rodman was into neuroscience.
Dr.Rodman, who is Erin, and how come there are so many nerds trying to date her?
Looks like i'm the only one who watching just for fun
