I've been an electric shaver user for 33 years now, before I used to use blades, the irritation, redness and cuts all the time, even using gel, foam and shaving oil still I got a lot of discomforts, then I tried my first Philips shaver and that was it, now I have a Braun 330 dry foil rechargeable shaver and a Philips series 3000 wet/dry rotary rechargeable shaver, both shavers are just great, the Braun is best if using it every day or a day in between, it will give me smooth and irritation-free shaves. the Philips at its best if I do not shave for more than 5 or 6 days as it tackles the beard easier giving me a wonderful close and clean shave; I splash pre-electric lotion before shaving and the shaver just glides on my face giving me just the perfect shave and I could dare to say it is a close as a manual blade shave.
I remember buying this after Die Another Day came out, it was my final year of University it came in the special cylindrical presentation case. Mines also had a Die Another Day spy pen that could record amd playback memos or conversations. I am sure I have both somewhere.
It's funny, people rip Die Another Day all the time, but it's got a really special place in my heart for a similar reason - like, I remember vividly who I was when I went to go and see it, and it was a time in my life when I was pretty cool, lol.
Awesome idea! I remember watching this a few years ago and thinking "lol I'd like to get my hands on that black magic shaver." Anyone who knows a thing or two about shavers knows that's not how they work. But, as you demonstrated, if you use the pop-up trimmer first and take your time, you could actually do it. Still, not sure about cutting your hair with this though. Also, I didn't know about the whole marketing campaign. I was too young when the movie came out and I'm not from the US either.
As a baldy I can attest to how good a shave a good rotary razor can offer. If I may offer a few suggestions. First, prep the face with isopropyl alcohol leaving it on the face for about a minute before shaving. This will cause the beard to stand up. Secondly, don't pull the skin. Irritation often comes from the hair trapped under the skin once pulled open pores are closed. Lastly, clean your razor as soon as you can. A bacteria laden razor also contributes to skin irritation.
I never believed for one second that Brosnan could have taken that beard down with that shaver. Call me surprised. Although i assume he had a barber give him a wet shave to get it that smooth.
I always thought, he was just doing a little bit of after shave of some leftover hair, might have missed that first time. But never understood why keep the shirt on? Well it's James Bond !
Great video and I'm actually quite impressed with how well the razor did. Having owned several Norelco razors over the years, I always thought that scene was completely unrealistic so I'm impressed that it actually works. That being said, like you I'll stick with my regular razor and shaving cream to get a close shave.
Coincidentally, both Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan liked to sport moustaches a lot when they weren't playing Bond, so even though technically the character never had a stache, it's not hard to imagine.
I am glad David that you finally highlighted this product. This movie and product placement is what me switch to electric razor and I have never looked back. Fifteen years of loyalty to Norelco. I would love to do a follow up video to discuss more pros and cons about this. Great job on the video.
When I was younger I tried a couple of electric razors, but I've always gone back to the wet razor. Part of it is because I really enjoy the ritual - the badger hair brush, whatever pretentious brand of shaving soap I've bought that month, my Harry's razor which I tediously sing the praises of because hey-guys-it's-a-German-razor-but-like-five-bucks-for-a-box... But part of it is that I've never got a really good shave with any of the electric razors I've tried. Is there a secret? Or is there value to buying the higher end ones? I've only ever bought whatever was cheapest in the electric razor section and maybe that's where I've been going wrong!
@@RolandHulme Hey Roland! I believe that the secret to purchasing a good electric razor is to decide what style of blade (how many blades) work best for your skin. Before I made the purchase I consulted with my Dermatologist for which he suggested to pick the blades meant for sensitive skin. Since the release of this Norelco the technology has gotten better and there are duo electric razors to be used wet or dry. With my experience it is best to dry shave with your natural oil skin rather if using electric razor rather than pre shave because the machine will glide faster and smoother while not giving high razor burn. I am considering doing a video on my IG channel soon to enhance this topic. Let's connect on IG (@dgomez007) where we can discuss this more.
I tried this exact same thing about 10 years ago. Electric razors are my nightmare. Since then, I’ve tried the sweat inducing Old-Dog-New-Tricks shave, but my go to is the safety razor. For about 8 years straight, I’ve used the same DOVO Solingen (sorry, no Gillette or Hoffritz) and I’m never going back.
I had one of that style electric shaver, I think it was a cheaper Norelco and I couldn't get a close shave with it to save my life! the hair on my neck grows every which way. I'll stick with my Merkur.
The door burst open. A frantic red-haired man yelled at the college student within: "Roland! I'm you from 25 years in the future. If you continue this obsession with James Bond, it will one day lead to you watching a 13 minute UA-cam video of a guy shaving. I came back to warn you." The redhead's teenage doppelganger narrowed his eyes, before demanding: "What the hell is UA-cam?"
Definitely try out shaving with a double-edged safety razor. Although it may take a little more technique to use it, I always find it provides a completely smooth result. Bonus thing is that it's cheaper in the long term as the razor handle itself can be gotten anywhere from $15/$20+ and the blades are so cheap as well (boxes of 100 blades can be bought for as little as $8 - so 8c per blade).
Nice video, not a fan of DAD, but I always wondered if the electroshaver really did manage to shave that beard, because back in 2002 I was modern and into gadgets that I would not even consider using a tube of shaving foam. Fast forward 19 years, and I honestly cannot see myself shaving with anything but a Gillette razor, a brush and Sandalwood soap
It's been so long since I used an electric razor that I totally forgot they had that flip-out trimmer thing on the back, but yes that's exactly what I used to take down the extra length after I had gone a few days without shaving.
What i find outstanding is not that Bond shaved with a premium brand electric shaver. Oh No ! But he shaved wearing an expensive dress shirt. THAT IS STYLE. 👍
I’m 33 and only used an electric razor until about 2 years ago. Night and day difference the process and outcome using a 5-blade razor. The irritation from an electric razor is real!
Of course one cleaned-up the basin after the exercise so as to not infuriate Lady Zaritsky ( some have lived & learned by such an experience..). Apropos, could you please Sir do a tutorial on how how to attach the hairpiece that Sir Connery used on N.S.N.A. as my syrup is getting tested by the strong winds lately? Cheers.
You definitely did this the hard way. For a start I was cringing to watch you use the trimmer the wrong way and instead of cutting low on the shaft you held it almost 90 degrees to the skin. Did the fact the trimmer kept collapsing not give a hint it should be used going down not up? Oh well. It was still weirdly entertaining. 😜
Norelco’s intro line is not that good, 5/10. Yet, as you go up it is considerably good. I get a stubble, more than a beard which can actually be tricky for an electric shaver. I use a Norelco nowadays (cuz Die Another Day, of course 😂) is kinder to my skin compared to a safety razor. I would recommend any man to give it a try to de electric razor. It keeps the “ritual” and traditions of shaving in a different package. PD to David, if you use the trimmer upside down works ridiculously faster and efficiently! Haha 10/10 review!
ROGER: Hmmm - a close shave. [as he acknowledges the usefulness of his humble shaving razor after ruthlessly disposing of some ill fated henchmen with it] ROGER: Can you verify this product works well in ... 'other regions'? Er, no video required. [tilts heavily tanned aged head as he raises an eyebrow] "There really is nothing quite like a shorn scrotum: it's breath-taking; I suggest you try it." - Dr Evil, Austin Powers!
You did acknowledge it, but what an exercise in futility. A $20 beard trimmer with guards will take a beard down to stubble level in ten minutes. Follow up with a razor shave and done. I know this as I’ve done it. No muss, no fuss 🤠... Those trimmers on electric razors are really only good for sideburn trimming in my opinion.
Why am I watching some middle-aged guy shaving? What happened to my life? I also owned a Norelco...my first shaver and used it for years until the Army. I had to shave in the field and had to do it with a razor (no electric power).Try first time shaving with a blade in the dark with cold water and no previous experience. Ouch! Since then I have stayed with razors and years ago devolved from multiple blades to an old fashioned double edged safety razor. Gillette of course, old man.
Keeping your face warm David ? Maybe should have tried a balaclava instead. Not liking the beardy look mate, not a moment too soon to get rid ! So much more bond without it.
I never knew my love for Bond would eventually have me watching a middle aged man shave his beard, but here I am and here I'll stay!
LOL!
Truly the content we signed up for.
Thanks so much...more to come!
Then David puts aftershave on and screams like McCauley Culkin from Home Alone..
This comment justified me getting out of bed today! 😂🤣😂🤣
That would have been priceless...

Yep - that razor was my Christmas present that year, all because of that commercial.
“ Authentically Die Another Day “.Never thought those words would ever be used in a sentence!
That’s the most fun I’ve ever had watching a guy shave!
Thank you for sacrificing your skin for the world of Bond ! Great video !

Does Carver’s fate in Tomorrow Never Dies also count as a Norelco ad? 😁 Thanks for the video. It was fun.

I would like to confirm Shivan. This is truly some of the best content on the web! Keep it coming! lol We do love you David!
WOW....thanks so much!
Keep the stache! You looked amazing! I know it's not Bond but you definitely had a Paul Newman look going there for a minute.

Fantastic video David, really enjoyed that one, the shaver did an incredible job it really did.
You outdid yourself, first time I've ever watched a man shave and liked it!
I was expecting blood and tears lol
So was I!
Hi David bought that razor back in the day! Still got it now not used much more a keepsake!
Same!
Where’s the outtakes David?🤣 didn’t snag a nose hair or anything 🤣🤣. Fun video thank you sir! Be well hope you guys have a fun and safe trip. 🙂
The nose hair outtake is painful to watch... ;)
Best electric shaver review on UA-cam, imagine if that was the purpose.

I am with you.
Shaving in that circular motion looked therapeutic.
Sort of was!
This is one of the most therapeutic videos I have seen love it

07:00 The Henry Cavill moustache!
Stay tunded for the Snyder Cut!
I still have (and use) this shaver. It’s a keeper!!!
Now David just has to review the pyjamas. Also, phase two of that beard is a bit Ted Lasso.
Pajamas! Off to Walmart!
The beard looks very good actually
Thanks! Easy for me to grow back... :)

Hmmmmm...it's an idea at that! ;)
You need to do this but with safety razor and the skyfall kit
We need some pictures of the NTTD Seamaster in the tropics!

It seems the razor also gave Bond a haircut.
The moustache suited you dude. Shape it up, bit of stubble and it’s a good look. Henry Cavill MI:6 style. Great video, loving the channel
You are truly obsessed.....we love it
I always wondered about that
Philips Philishave and now I know.. thanks to you!! :)
I can't believe I watched this ; )
Shaving was a good idea! Nice review!
Thanks!
So, how long did the entire shave process take?
Took about 20 minutes....
