We just don't produce high quality players anymore. It's simple as that. Even Czechia has surpassed us. I bet in next 10 years Germany, Switzerland and Slovakia start producing better players than Finland. Actually Germany has already started having good junior program. There are lots of talented German NHL players.
We had a good run but our decline is evident. Atleast we are not favorites to win any tournaments so we don't have any pressures.

@@NordicWiseguy Thats not true. I watch international hockey very closely and our (Czech) youths are still behind urs. There are some huge differences at training (atleast by what i know) - We have lot, lot and lot of harder dry preparation before ice which gives to our players more endurance....but in other hand ur players work more on technicall stuff, like 1 on 1 skillset, puck controll and etc... + better diet which is controlled by clubs - this is not existing in Czech. + Ur players have more trainings and matches in overall by what i heard from people which played in Finland.
I think that main reason why we won is not that our players have better skillset, but because they have better will and hunger to win, to bring something home + leaders like Kulich.
edit: BTW tho our next generations could be crazy good if everything goes well after changes in youth system.

This reminds me of a 2022 bronz medal match where czechia was losing to USA 1:3 but ended up wining 8:4 :D
I have to say the Finns played great the first half of the match, but after 2:5 thinking they already won, they lost their tempo, which we used to our advantage and punished it accordingly.

Finland this year sat back and defended as soon as they got the lead. And every time it backfired. 2-0, sit back; 5-2, sit back. Until it's 8-5. Jalonen was one legendary, irreplaceable coach for sure, and this new guy was the reason they lost.
