Beat The Bush is ON IT!!!! Love ya bro, thanks for sharing your outlook on things, yes meat was only consumed on special occasions, now it seems if people don't eat meat every day they just don't feel satisfied.
Eggs, macaroni/cheese, tuna casserole, bean/lentil soups, herbed rice with vegetables and olive oil, big salads with cheese and nuts, all are great substitutes for meat dishes.
Lentil soup is my go to... It's healthy, protein and u only need 15 min for cooking and it tastes good if you like things that taste earthy. I used to eat lot of eggs but omg it went up a lot
I like what u said about labeling your meat in the freezer? I always wondered how long beef last in the Freezer? Ty I think your very kind in trying to help out others. It does make a difference 🙏
Even if you don't have a yard, you can take your seeds from what you bought at the grocery, such as avocado, mango, peaches, plums, apples, squash, tomatoes, green pepper - whatever you have, go out into the neighborhood, or areas off the beaten track, such as alleyways or by the railroad tracks, etc. and stick 'em into the ground. Dump some water in there from a container you brought, and leave it. Mark it with a little colored stick so if you come back you'll see if it's growing without having to look for it. Trees take awhile to get going. If they are planted out of the way of foot traffic and city mowing machines, it is likely you will have a food forest spread all over the place. Keep a paper tablet (online stuff tends to get lost) with each seed's location, if you want, and the color marker. When checking your seeds, take extra markers with you in case something happened to your other ones. Stick them deep in the dirt so they don't wash away. It's fun thinking about where some good locations would be that you can walk to or bike to easily to check on them. One of the fastest growing trees is a mulberry tree. But loquat, star fruit, mango and fruit vines are very fast growers. Ask you friends if they would allow you to plant some seeds in their yards. Most won't care, as long as they get to say where they're planted. It's free, so how much fun can one have for free?
Gotta watch out for some seeds as many of the seeds doesn't grow the fruit you ate form. I remember it has to do with the genes of say a red delicious apple is fixed but the see was mixed with other apple genes.
I have begun making baked potatoes and potato wedges a head of time, with a coating of olive oil and sprinkled with salt. In the morning I am always craving tatter-tots or hash browns or french fries. The baked potatoes/wedges helps with that. I may try to make my own potato chips as well.
Frozen and some canned vegetables can actually be very economical and nutritious. I mostly will buy canned vegetables that are unsalted for things like chili or bolognese sauce.
In my opinion, we should not try to spend less on food, I mean not to spend on food by eating outside in restaurants, Starbucks, etc instead, we should spend on home-cooked food and trust me even if you buy the best fruits and vegetables and cook food in your house it will not cost a lot We should not compromise on health/body as it is the most important thing !! and obviously I don't hate you, just a recommendation from a new viewer and a person who likes both Health and fitness AND loves money !!

Yay, he has a loquat tree! I have two and every Spring I’m in loquat heaven! They grow from seed. It takes about 5-6 years to reach 6’ and when they start producing fruit.
I agree about shopping the the perimeter of the store. Society over the years has shifted towards convenient and easy meals, and most people don’t scratch cook anymore, they rely on prepackaged prepared foods too much. When I started really cooking all of my meals I saved a ton of money. I choose smaller portions of higher quality meats and eliminated all the processed meats and cold cuts. @Bert O - you are absolutely correct about frozen vegetables and they don't end up with pesticides or insecticides sprayed on them in transit so unwanted bugs don't cross State or Country lines. The freezing process kills the bugs. This probably is true for fruit and meat as well.
@@BeatTheBush The Market is so flat nowadays, I hardly pay attention to it anymore. and the CPI numbers are supposed to come out tomorrow, I don't expect any good news (Anytime soon). Watching other types of videos is a nice distraction.
actually frozen veggies and fruit are better than fresh in many cases because the fresh fruit is harvested too early (not ripe) to have a longer shelf life and therefore it's not as vitamine-rich as the frozen kind that is harvested when ripe.
Could you show some pictures of each meal you eat in a day? I want to start doing this but I'm not sure what the budget meal should look like. Do you just eat the sardines directly out of the can, or make a stir-fry type thing? Also, do you ever worry about heavy metals with the canned fish, especially eating it frequently?
Yes but that will take some time. I don't strictly eat $1/day these days but it's usually pretty simple. Sardines I eat out of the can, small fish are lower in heavy metals but I do sardines at most 1 time a week.
Buy a food saver. Extract all of the air and that meat will last for many years in the freezer. Two years or so ago I ate the last of the half cow I bought back in 2008. Fresh as they day I bought it. All depends on how well you pack it and make sure you don't lose the seal.
@@BeatTheBush Crazy, I know, but it works. What destroys it is the exposure to air causing the moisture to sublimate, damaging the protein. Even food savered food will do this if you lose the seal, so you have to check it maybe once per year and if it lost the seal, go ahead and cook it. I got super lucky on that stuff. Didn't lose any of it. You can also layer it to make sure that even a lost seal won't destroy it. Did this with some liver and stew meat and I expect it to all last even longer than the tenderized round steak which was the last of that 2008 cow.
Thanks god here in Brazil fresh food is so cheap, but when was in USA a used to by at Grocery Outlet, they had food near the due date so cheap. And the expiration date is just theoretical, you can eat it wit safe a few after that.

I can do with less calories your plan would yield. Thanks for the suggestions.
I don't recall if I've seen this video or not but this is also one of those areas where I think time is more valuable than the $10 savings. So as an example, let's say you go with the CVS plan. And the plan is to sign up, pocket the $10, then cancel. Sounds easy right? Issue is that the time it takes for you to sign up and then time to cancel (with most things). That time to me is not worth a bag of almonds. But this is a theme I see in r/frugal where someone may have saved some money but they're actually wasting time. And imo in the long run, it's someone who understands the value of time who has a stronger bearing on their financial success. It's sort of the same reason I don't care about 'coupon clipping' because yes, you save cents here and there but you're wasting time. And not to sound privileged but eating ground meat and canned food (while it may save money) isn't what I would want to do. I mean, I suppose that people have to make do -- but it's more expensive in the long run -- ie if they check their blood with a doctor, guaranteed there are major deficiencies and problems in many areas etc.

Please make a new video about how to make milk tea with almond milk. It would be helpful for the vegans and lactose intolerant as well as the financially struggling
Meat can last for years with no quality or taste loss if you use a food saver vs regular freezer bags. I use vacuum sealer for so many things. Well worth it and saves money. Sugar, most veg & seed oils, margarine, and processed foods are the main enemy, NOT red meat, butter, and animal fat - bad advice from the 1990s. Rice has a lot of arsenic and simple carbs as does wheat/bread (glysophate) and oats. I try to limit those. High quality meat, eggs, and veggies (wide variety and colors) organic when possible) are best. Frozen veggies are very healthy.. just as much as fresh… not processed - why would you avoid them?
@@BeatTheBush I’d say more like 4-5x longer than regular freezer bags …. I usually eat within 2-3 years max and it’s perfect appearance and taste. Even Chicken is good that long .. no issues. I’ve eaten some older - good but some have very slight freezer taste… others you’d never know. I do have an upright large freezer and keep it at -2 degrees… so some depends on your freezer and temp
Restaurant depot is crazy cheap especially with their marked down meat prices. The problem there is the quantities they sell in so I only buy select things
Fast food is very low quality cheap food for much higher cost than eating healthy at home… and if you spend about the same you could eat super healthy at home.. and much better tasting!
Great tips! I'm not much of a meat eater anyways. But I do need to cut out some of the isle shopping aka processed foods. By the way, I love those plushies! I also have an "ugly doll".
@@BeatTheBush You must not be cooking them the best way or for the right things. For example .. frozen veggies work fantastic in soups. Slow cooker beef or chicken veggie soup is fantastic!
Good point. I try to avoid canned foods as much as possible. But when I do get them, I look for ones that only have a few ingredients with no preservatives.
I'll have to update my video as the way I make it changes depending on the ingredients and tools I have. Here is one video I did on it: ua-cam.com/video/6hU0OI5r2CA/v-deo.htmlsi=mmSqnbB3o4__xwqF
Many of my meals are a bit more now due to inflation. But for chicken, it's $20 for a whole organic chicken, I can split that into 16 servings or so for $1.25 each.
I'm on Keto now, so no more rice, ramen. Bread, potato for me :( unless the rice/bread is a special carb friendly one, and even then I only eat a little bit.
@@BeatTheBush Wheat is fine in moderation, it's all the added sugar and preservatives that ruin commercial bread. Food pyramid also pushed the population to eat more than they should. Bread should accompany a meal not be the main focus. Look at French culture.
2:40 But you can keep boxes of Almond milk in a cupboard for a few months, while you have to keep making the milk with the nuts, and cannot store it as it will go off faster. And how much does it cost to keep running a blender to make the milk? 1:19 Really expensive compared to prices in Europe: 6 tins = $4.
Assume 1kW usage for 2 minutes and 0.33/kWh = 1.1c to run the blender. I mainly use almond milk from real almonds to avoid preservatives and anything NOT almonds in the boxed milk.
My husband and I are not poor, but I keep cutting our budget. I spend less and less on food. We're BJ's members. We want to become debt free soon. Rich people live far more frugally than poor people.
I love splitting my meat up for the freezer, although I still eat more meat per meal cause meeeeeeat. Wish I could go back to vegetarian but now I love meat haha
Hey, I agree that it definitely feels good to eat well. The only draw back is time. I find when I've been at work & come home tired & hungry I want to quickest thing possible so I find keeping the odd ready meal to hand helpful. The days I'm at home I definitely find it easier to eat well as have more time to think about what I can eat & prepare it.
So you package up that meat in the plastic wrap. All that plastic costs you money (is terrible for the environment) and should be factored into the price of your meals. Don't tell me it isn't because you could not have those several pounds of meat in the freezer if you did not package them as you showed. Everything costs money and ought to be added into the price of the meal.
@@teslagoth9401 For outdoor work clothes, lounging, gardening, washing the car, etc. it doesn't pay to ruin your new clothes. I still have too many clothes, in spite of donating most of what I have. Who cares if they see the same shirt twice? No one cares. I have enough shoes to last me the rest of my life, because I had foot pain and in an effort to find shoes to help it, I bought expensive "foot friendly" shoes. So the pain went away when I went on a whole food vegetarian diet. No salt, no fat, no sugar. In two weeks the pain went away, and in four months the swelling was gone, the pain was gone, and I was amazed. I didn't eat that way for that purpose. My wrist pain also went away. Both were chronic conditions and extremely disabling. I still have no idea why that diet resolved my issues, but I know it did. I again eat meat/chicken, etc. and the conditions are giving me a twinge here and there. I know I can go back to eating the way I did before and the symptoms will disappear again if it gets too bad.

Minimum beef size? Like 50lbs? 100lbs? omg.
@@BeatTheBush I see them around 10-15lbs packages. Still manageable in my small freezer when you portion it
I don’t eat meat but very good cost procedures!
I was thinking you might suggest getting the $1 Large fries at McDonalds for lunch when you order on the app
I cant recommend that since it's all carbs and not nutrition.
Fast food ain't cheap!
Do some research.
Thanks for sharing your tips.
Do you use roasted or raw almonds to make your homemade almond milk? Thanks in advance. :)
Most people do it with raw almonds. Roasted is oxidized pufa fats, so not very healthy.
@@keralee Thank you for the info. I want to try to make this.
No reason to avoid frozen vegetables. They can be more healthy than "fresh" ones from the store. And cheaper! The fresh tastes better though..
I tried frozen and it just didn't cut it for me.
@@BeatTheBush You must not be cooking them the best way or for the right things. For example .. frozen veggies work fantastic in soups. Slow cooker beef or chicken veggie soup is fantastic!
I just want to point out. It was said that canned sardines are on the shopping list but it was also said that canned foods are avoided.
Good point. I try to avoid canned foods as much as possible. But when I do get them, I look for ones that only have a few ingredients with no preservatives.
One Tipp food sharing and Coupons can save a lot money
dayum, you been workin out?
Think maybe the shirt was more fitting here. Lol
@@BeatTheBush looking good
Thanks for the video s, is there a recipe for milk tea?
I'll have to update my video as the way I make it changes depending on the ingredients and tools I have. Here is one video I did on it: ua-cam.com/video/6hU0OI5r2CA/v-deo.htmlsi=mmSqnbB3o4__xwqF
All great ideas, thanks.
You are so welcome!
Thank you!
Do you actually do this stuff yourself?
Many of my meals are a bit more now due to inflation. But for chicken, it's $20 for a whole organic chicken, I can split that into 16 servings or so for $1.25 each.
Agree with everything 👍🏻
=D
Good video but I thought the FDA said that meat can last an infinite time in the freezer
Infinite huh... I'd like to see where they said that.
You rock bro.
I'm on Keto now, so no more rice, ramen. Bread, potato for me :( unless the rice/bread is a special carb friendly one, and even then I only eat a little bit.
I'm starting to think wheat is the source of many problems for the majority.
Cauliflower rice
@@BeatTheBush Wheat is fine in moderation, it's all the added sugar and preservatives that ruin commercial bread. Food pyramid also pushed the population to eat more than they should. Bread should accompany a meal not be the main focus. Look at French culture.
Hi. Do you know of any credit card that won't charge any foreign fees ( I think that's what it's called )? Thx
Yes. I put it in this video: ua-cam.com/video/kNCNNwBXA70/v-deo.html

But you can keep boxes of Almond milk in a cupboard for a few months, while you have to keep making the milk with the nuts, and cannot store it as it will go off faster.
And how much does it cost to keep running a blender to make the milk?
1:19
Really expensive compared to prices in Europe: 6 tins = $4.
Assume 1kW usage for 2 minutes and 0.33/kWh = 1.1c to run the blender. I mainly use almond milk from real almonds to avoid preservatives and anything NOT almonds in the boxed milk.
@@BeatTheBush
Far too much hard work for me.
Do you use Organic water?
Oh yeah, there's no such a thing!
:-0
My husband and I are not poor, but I keep cutting our budget. I spend less and less on food. We're BJ's members. We want to become debt free soon. Rich people live far more frugally than poor people.
real men of genius
I was hoping to see you cook...
Noted. Will look to cook as a trial soon.

How is your health doing with significantly less meat?
My last health checkup for blood work are all in the 'optimal' range.
learn to cook simple indian veg food, try it. healthy and cheap..
Cheaper than Malaysia I guess!
Almond milk recipe? I buy organic soy milk
How about buying a bag of cookies once a week during the football season is that bad for your health ?
I am no nutritionalist but I do think moderation in sweets is healthful, mainly to reduce spikes in blood sugar to prevent diabetes.
I love splitting my meat up for the freezer, although I still eat more meat per meal cause meeeeeeat. Wish I could go back to vegetarian but now I love meat haha
Great video BTB … enjoyed it despite being vegetarian lol 😂
Awww. Replace meat with tofu. 1lb at $3, 4 servings.
@@BeatTheBush I actually do. Together with intermittent fasting my food bill is really low and no sugar or packaged foods.
Is it me or is bush jacked now??? Lunch for $1, gains for $2.
Gains for $2? Naw, I think it's my smaller shirt.
CVS carepass is so hard to cancel. I do not recommend.
You long in and canceled it immediately after opening it. I only got it to get free toy for my nephew then canceled it immediately
The way I get around that is prepare 3-4 meals in advance whenever I do make a meal. Then I just reheat and go.
@@BeatTheBush tonight I'm going to cook double food, sausage, mash with veg and freeze half as a healthy ready meal. See how I go.
If you cut out meat from your diet, save even more
Air fryer, Sir? Just fry some air..
Meat does not cause cancer
👍🏻
Gym rats would disagree with the recommended daily protein.
I agree. The daily protein quoted was for sedentary people.
If you drink Red Bull you won’t be able to do this deal lol. I drink 8-$ 12.00 a day

I can't imagine a millionaire living like this
Seems pretty normal and comfortable to me. =D
Most millionaires are extremely frugal.
My husband has been wearing the same clothes for 25 years
@@teslagoth9401 For outdoor work clothes, lounging, gardening, washing the car, etc. it doesn't pay to ruin your new clothes.
