- EKK FUN FUN FUN!!! WHAT SHOULD I TRY NEXT?! This is honestly my favourite video maybe I have ever made, I just love researching it all and stuff you know!
The recipes I used if not from a recipe book:
Duck a l'orange, a classic julia childs recipe: dejavucook.wor...
Black forest gateau was from the delia smith cook book but I found it here: htbexmassey.co.u...
In case you wanted to watch the other back in time videos:

I looooove the „eating like“ series!! So creative and interesting
10 Recipes That Defined the 1980s (USA)

I don’t know if you ever see my comments Grack but The Booth’s should totally star in Back in Time for Dinner on the BBC like Ellen suggested! It’s incredible ✌🏻 Also here’s my previous comment 💗
Love this dude 💗✌🏻💗 You could go to town on all the different eras or even countries!!! Also I still love how papa booth never gets to like and subscribe right ✌🏻 he’s adorable! Grack you look incredible too as always, especially the hair 🌻 you never fail to make me smile thank you lovely and keep them coming! Xxxxxxxxx
@@SophBywater I agree the Booths would be a great family for Back in time for Dinner!!!
Idk if this a fun idea but I would love to see an “eating like royalty” series and you can cook different royal families favourite foods. Might be a bit of an expensive video tho haha
Omg yess! she really should but also like a royalty from a different country would be pretty nice to see
Yesss
There’s a man who used to be a chef for the royal family who posts their favourite recipes on youtube, very interesting. Has the queens, princess Diana’s, numerous
YES this is such a good idea
Great Idea!!!
I love how unique your content is. I can’t wait to see what you create.
so kind of you!
I know right, I cant wait for her to do another decade! So interesting
Grackle ❤️❤️❤️❤️
When you know Grace and her family so well that when she says ‘Forest Gatteau’ you in your head say “that’s her dads favourite” before Grace does - thank you for letting us be part of your lovely family Grace xxxx
* gets anxious while watching Grace holding a mayo jar*
Ik 😭 and when she was hitting it off the countertop - war flashbacks 😂
I genuinely started preparing for shock
😭😭
Why is it always the mayo jar? WHY IS IT ALWAYS YOU??!
Lmao same
So pure and sweet when she asked her grandparents to text her their ratings cause she knew they were watching!!!
Honestly these videos are so original and entertaining, I love the sheer effort you have put into this. It’s so valued !!
Ahhh thanks for the kind words, it means so much :)
When quarantine is over, you and Taz should cook a meal for each other
That would be fun!
@@Grackle I hope you like ramen, Grack ;)
Why can't they see each other now? 🤔
@@bbmcgee33 COVID-19 restrictions
@@ftumschk Really?! They can't even have dinner together?! Didn't lockdown finish ages ago...?
grace, you are genuinely the gem of youtube. every time i see that you’ve uploaded it makes my day, thank you for being you and bringing light to so many people Xxxxx
Thank you so so so much for taking the time to leave this lovely comment xxx
This is so sweet but also so true! she just full of positive energy
You know what really stands out from these 70s and 80s dinner parties? They didn’t have enough vegetables! But it’s fun to watch, though.
I remember my dad telling me that his mum would cook macaroni as far back as the 60s, but that was the only pasta they had for decades in England.
People who always liked her: *everyone*
hahah literally, she's too sweet and lovely
I
I love how Grace's intros always sound like a class presentation lmaoooooo hahahaha love it x
i was thinking the same thing lmaooo
My aunt had the most gorgeous “hostess skirts” in the ‘70s. These were long skirts that would be worn with a blouse or turtleneck sweater. Once dinner was cooked, she’d do her comb out, put on her makeup, and change to her skirt and blouse. These parties were usually Grownups Only, but I loved watching the ritual of preparation. There was so much ceremony-it was truly an Event.
Look up the UA-cam channel, English Heritage, she makes all kinds of foods and tells the history of them. I think you would really love it.
I thought cake was dessert. LOL
Grace, you would love a series we have in Australia called Back In Time For Dinner! They have to live a week in various decades, encompassing every aspect of the lifestyle. Their house is completely set up how it would of been in that era. Their clothes, food, education, travel, work & activities are all typical of the era. Sounds right up your alley!
We have loads of these Back in Time series in the UK: dinner, tea, corner shop, school, factory, etc. They're great!
For people living as different eras type tv shows, I’d recommend back in time for dinner basically every week this family lived as a different era. Even their house got redecorated
I LOVED that show!
Loved that programme. Think you can still watch some episodes on I player xx
Grackle or the BBC show The Supersizers, they did a different decade each week (including the tudors) and the episodes are all on UA-cam
The 1970's were so awesome!! I remember my parents serving Fondue of all types during parties at this time. Great job! In the USA, Quiche arrived on the culinary scene in the 80's.
Oh thats so fun!
Omg yes fondue!!
Honestly seeing you with that jar of Mayo flying about all willy nilly gave my some rather intense flashbacks
🙌🙌😂
I love the shows back in time for dinner. I loved the 1940 family one too.
Grace the 70s fashion is MADE for you! You look stunning 🥰 what about 'a week wearing 70s clothes'? Ahah
She should definitely do that!
I laughed so hard at your dad showing the cat the duck! I loved this one!
there's something therapeutic in watching you cook, it's so wholesome and relaxing ❤️
Grace you should check out the Mass Observation Project! It started in 1981and basically volunteers are asked to write a diary entry about everything that happens to them on a random day and their diary entries are recorded. They're encouraged to record all sorts of everyday things about their lives for historians of the future - you could recreate a day in the life of the 1980s for your next challenge! Also people would be set random questions to record snapshots in time, anything from 'What do you have on your mantlepiece' to 'How does the miners' strike affect your life?'. You can also still sign up to be a volunteer, it just sounded like the kind fo thing you might be interested in and could engourage people to participate in :-)
Yesss Black Forest gateaux is gorgeous
When Grace says 'people in the past' I was born at the end of the 70's so this should be interesting!! (although I feel so old) haha Probably will recognise some of the fashion and food!! Hahaha. Smash mash. Yep. Prawn cocktail and Blackforest gateaux were firm restaurant and dinner party favourites /staples! 🤣 I also remember chicken in a basket or scampi in a basket and trifles/jelly based desserts!!!! Oh and Arctic roll. Lol Vol au vents were cool too
Love the way you decorated the table and everything. You're so cute. Bet your family love it when you do stuff like this 🙏❤️
I was born in the mid sixties so you have at least another 15 years before you can call yourself old. Enjoy being a youngster. Trust me, it doesn't last nearly long enough.
I was born in the 70s and I'm not old. I loved growing up then and in the 80s and 90s! So lucky and I miss those times! Love these Grace🥰But I definitely never ate most of those foods Haha
Maybe because I'm Canadian?
LOL! Y’all are all babies! I was born in 1953! I turn 67 on the 29th.
@@vickiibendit943 ♥️♥️♥️
@@vickiibendit943 Every age is a great age!💜
This reminds me of the show 'Back in time for tea'. I can literally imagine your family on the show.
Grace, I think you'd absolutely love Back In Time For Dinner and Further Back In Time For Dinner. They're TV shows where a family "lives through the decades"!
I grew up in the 80s, and every dinner party my Mum held, we had prawn cocktail starters, black forest gateaux for dessert too!!! she also made trifles, and crêpe suzettes. mains were usually lasagnas, salads, and some fancy meat dish decked out like your duck a l'orange. Ha! Guess my mum had a lot of 70s cookbooks!
Grace, you looked like many girls like me back in high school. I graduated in 1976. The 70's were the best.
We're of the same vintage - and she looks like a girl I 'dated' in about 1975.
I am also a 70s kid ... graduated in '76 and my style looked very much like what you chose, Grace.
I graduated in 1973. If it weren't for the Vietnam war, the 70s would have been heaven.
Pappa Booth's LOVING the prawn cocktail ✌️💕🙌
Love your mum's life lesson on how to deliver the duck a l'orange 😍😍😍
The Blackforest gateaux also went down well too!!!!!
I love the 70s. I was a teenager in California, USA, so it is a very nostalgic time for me. My mother was into the new health food craze, so we had lots of whole grain bread, sprouts, avocados, artichokes, and everything (meatloaf, chicken, fish, etc.) was cooked with lots of wine.
You're the only American I've ever seen that says your state and country instead of just state and I'm proud of you
Where in CA? My mom was a teenager in LA in the 70s and her mom (my grandma) was the same! They were in a food co op, and once even split a whole cow with another family!
It was the same in Canada: whole grain bread, sprouts you made at home, but no avocados; wine sauces for company dinner or birthdays, homemade granola, homemade peanut butter. Lots of homemade yogurt, and just coming onto the market was tofu. We made desserts with the softest kind, and ignored the rest, lol. Never jellied salads, they were more in the '60s, but shrimp cocktail the way Mary Berry makes it. Yum.
I was a kid in the 70s, and a lot of the food was really great. Some weird experiments, but lots of fancy dinner-party foods became popular in the 70s.
Haha same experiences
I graduated from high school in ‘79 and thoroughly enjoyed this video. I’ve not tried the cake but I loved the shrimp cocktail, the duck and the potatoes. I loved my hair in the 70’s and had some very beautiful peasant dresses by Gunnesaxx. Thank you for the delightful video!
Well done! You looked very 70’s! Your family so enjoyed the meal that you prepared! I love these time era vlogs! That’s how I started watching when you did eating for a week for the 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s! That was so much fun to watch, especially getting your family’s advice on those timelines! Bravo!
Graces relationship with her fam warms my heart 💖
I don't know if you have watched "Supersizers" with Sue Perkins and Giles Coren, but I think you would enjoy the series very much. They go through major periods of history and live and eat the food of that time. It's a great show, available on UA-cam too.
I love her and her content. its calming, funny, silly, humourous and just AMAZING! Good Job!!!! Good Entetainment! x Love You ad Taz! Best UA-camrs ever!!!
Your dad vibing with the food is such a mood
Would love to see this become a series of decades AND cultures.
Your skin looks so good Grack!🖤
The orange prep asmr gave me pure serotonin I love it
u literally have the most entertaining video ideas related to food!!!
- honeypot films
THANK YOU!!!!
Spinach dip in a ginormous bread bowl as an appetizer is a must for an 80's dinner party meal! 😉
Grace just doesn't stop serving amazing content for us
omg your videos make me so happy and calm. you’re always in the best mood and u out in so much effort which i appreciate. also ur family is so jolly and well spirited and pure. i love ur channel girlie. i also love how u and ur dad say stummy and eggie it’s adorable
Prawn cocktail is prawns and tomato ketchup and mayonnaise. I ate pasta frequently in 80's. Always had garlic bread esp on Sundays! My Mother was an awesome cook and cooked food from the whole of Europe! I found that people who lacked intelligence hated innovations in food. Who would think bake beans on toast was an evening meal. My Mother always called that a snack and not a meal. Great video Grackle.
Grace, those back in time videos is how I found your channel! And then I just couldn’t leave :) I so would love to do one of those back in time things! When I was 17 I did a wagon train in South Dakota where we had to dress up and kinda play the part, we had kitchen duties, etc. it was so much fun!! Anyway, loved this!!
Girl you are a cultural historian at heart, this is the type of stuff I love studying in my history major. If you ever wanna come back to uni, come to cultural history!
this gives me cozy vibes, can’t wait for your Christmas videos, probs gonna binge.🎃🧡✨
LOVED your 70s theme idea dinner! Yes, you should do what dad suggests and go 80s next time! (but mom and dad have to dress up tooo!!!!) I had no idea Chloe was not living at home. Would have been nice to have her for dinner as well. Cheers from Canada
Love the convo at the end with what your folks ate for dinner ... some little nibbles from the 70s added to this meal would've been awesome!
This really reminds me of that ‘back in time for...’ series on the bbc, especially the back in time for dinner one obvs ahahah, love it!!!!!
I’m always happy to see the iconic duo back!
Oooh love these researched vlogs and educational information about different eras in life ❤️🙏
I love how nice and harmonious your family is
You are looking incredibly cute in that dress and hair!! So happy you uploaded this on my birthday🥰 love you millions and thank you so much for all the energy you put on the videos and I really hope you know you make everyone so happy ☺️✨
Such a fun video idea grace!!
Oh your timing is impeccable! I’m celebrating my birthday with a 70s themed party! With 70s themed food and everything!
I love that you let us be part of your family. Feels like coming home every video!
I love how much your dad enjoyed this ❤️
I'm halfway through the vid but just had to pause to tell you that I think that you're such a great, hardworking person! You're doing so well Grace! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏✨✨✨✨
I am obsessed with your dads innocent chaotic good energy, just bursting into singing and then showing banish the duck... he is a KING
What a fun idea! I love food history and always love your videos. I remember when I mom told me that pizza and tacos weren't a thing when she was growing up and could NOT wrap my head around that. 😂
I just stumbled across this video and loved it so much. I just bought my first house and am having my family over as the first guests next week and I'm so excited!!! This video was so fun and sweet. Big fan of this content and can't wait to binge the rest of your vids! 🤍
This kind of content is right up my street! You could even go all the way back to medieval cuisine! they had really interesting food theories (hot/cold, dry/wet), and obviously you could recreate lords' banquets or peasant grub, or food in the first american colonies, there's literally so much you could explore! Or even Christmas lunches/dinners around the world/throughout time! There's so much to do, you'd better get Gracking! (get it?)
The dedication that went into this video , sublime!
I looooove this!! Please keep doing this for as many decades a possible - it's like supersizers, if anybody remembers that show
Prawn cocktail: our Christmas Day starter for years when I was little.
Black Forest Gateau: seemed to be on the dessert trolley of every single restaurant we went to when I was little.
Duck à l'orange: not something that featured at all in my childhood, but we did sometimes have a dish of chicken with grapes in a tarragon cream sauce. Perhaps you could call it a conceptual cousin?
Thanks for the trip down memory lane, Grace!
P. S. If you are interested in how people used to live, you should read Bill Bryson's "At Home," if you haven't already done so. I have a feeling it would satisfy that interest a hundred times over, and maybe even provide fodder for future vlog concepts.
These food in history videos are my favorite ones that you do 👍
This is sooooo much fun and it's informative! Please please continue with different decades and countries you inspire me to try loads of things !
If you love watching how other people live, i suggest The Family Farm. They take families from the city to a remote Welsh farm to learn about herding sheep, living on a farm etc!
You put so much work into this Grace, loved it!! So original, educational and entertaining. Also, your parents are gems 💫
I just love your style and content so much! So glad I randomly stumbled upon your channel a few months ago. My husband and I are now going through your videos bit by bit together and they are *so* entertaining us. 😍
Yay new video!! Loving the content grace! Hope the booth fam is all good:))
We are fab thank you!
Those potatoes looked perfectly brilliantly golden-brown! And the few times I’ve had duck I always it was much better than chicken- and infinitely better than always-dry turkey. Now I’m as hungry as your videos are interesting. Once again, well done you!
So much effort went into editing this video and I appreciate it so much!!! Great job Grace!!!
This just might be my favorite one yet! Great job, Grace! As an 80’s kid, all four of the these foods were the absolute height of cuisine in my family. Now I MUST figure out how to make those potatoes dairy free! I PETITION FOR THE 1920’s next! 🥰
My mum once made a savory dish from the 70s that included bananas, ham, and something pickled. Those recipes should definitely stay savely inside the cookbook.
Possibly my favourite out of all your videos, cant wait to see more of these :) xx
You honestly just smash every single upload! Your content is so unique and you can tell that you put so much time and effort into your vids xxx
I absolutely adore all of your content! I love seeing what you post and just how genuine you are.
Hello Grace, I love Prawn Cocktail, Duck L'Orange with Dauphinoise Potatoes and Black Forest Gateaux. Mind you, I would serve the Prawn Cocktail with Cucumber, Tomatoes and some Rocket, plus I would replace the Garden Peas for Carrots (possibly cooked in Orange Juice) and add some Garlic to the Dauphinoise Potatoes (as well as Black Pepper and Sea Salt). The evening would not be complete without listening to some ABBA music and photographs of the classic, iconic British Rail High Speed Train/InterCIty 125 train as designed by Sir Kenneth Grange, who also created/designed your Kenwood Kitchen Aid food mixer!
Best wishes and take care, Kind regards, Peter Skuce. St Albans. Hertfordshire.
Hello again Grace, I would also cook some Leeks, which would be served alongside the Carrots in the main course.
Here are my photographs of the classic, iconic High Speed Train/InterCity 125 train (features interior shots of drivers cab, the First Class carriages, the buffet counter and kitchen as well as photographs of both the Great British Breakfast and three course evening Dinner meals):

Your hair looks great, and I love when your dad says, "Peace out, punks!" XD
im so excited for this
We have to stan Grace’s video ideas
i just love how you used a picture of kaya scodelario (effy iykyk) for your hair inspo
Loved the camera work for the cooking and the editing in this video! And the little VO intro! It really feels like you took it a level up in this video in terms of production. I would definitely enjoy more "themed" dinner parties!
In America, Jello salads were very popular. My mother and grandmothers made them a lot! I remember my mother making pot roast, peas and carrots, and mashed potatoes for “fancy” dinners in the 1970s. (I was ages 5-14 in the ‘70s!))
I love a well researched UA-cam video, it really sets this apart from most
Ahhh I just live for your content sometimes its like you are in my brain! 💕
heheheheh brain buddies
This was such a wholesome video! Would love to see more videos like this Grace!
It's so refreshing to watch someone who is passionate about cooking/ baking. Ive only recently found your chanel and subscribed but have been binge watching all your old videos. It's such a nice change from the over saturated/ vapid influencer videos.
I love your dad. He cracks me up
I always like while watching the adverts before the video starts luv u girl xxx
Thank you for making these videos - they're keeping me sane!
Content like this brought me to your channel. Love it
aww loved it! feels like I spent a really fun night having dinner at yours!
Little tip re the black forest gateau from a German who bakes it regularly ;) Leaving out the alcohol always works and basically makes the cake kid-friendly. If you don't have kirsch liqueur at hand, you can always substitute it with rum. Let the cherries soak in rum for at least two weeks and once you drain the cherries, don't throw away the rum-cherry-mixture but use it to moisten the cake. Hope this helps and happy baking :)
This is gonna be great👍 I haven’t even watched it yet 😂
Ahh yay! I hope it lived up to expectations xx
Grackle can you please do a video of making how to cake it cakes? Pleaseee do it , it’s would be cool to see someone bake and decorate them!
the research, the editing, the attention to detail .. genuinely one of the best videos I've ever seen! never clicked on a video so fast in my life *chef's kiss*
I had such a fun time watching this! You did an amazing job!
