My friend you seem like a smart guy I'm doing pretty decent in life so why not use that brain that God gave you and of course do the right thing and go ahead and do it while it's out plus you can make a video or two doing this awesome family content keep up the good work stay blessed always get the man upstairs credit good job my friend
Funny how us humans try to make excuses on why not to do something we know we should do. Take an extra week or two and do it right like you know you should.
Seeing you did that by yourself. You’d laugh if you saw me and my dad take out just a regular V8 for the first time. We also had no experience at all but it took us longer than it should’ve
1998 12 valve blocks were called storm blocks and have the 2 oil drain more webbing in the sides of the block and have 12mm main. 1994-1997 blocks. Don’t have the webbing only one oil drain but have 14mm main
That's the way these Cummins should be bought. Already pulled out of the truck waiting for the next owner. Drop in garage with forklift. Replace all seals and throw it back in your rig. Jealous. I suffer replacing all the seals with the engine still in!
For those who haven't used oven cleaner before; Be sure you get the Easy Off with the yellow cap. They have different kinds with different color caps but the one with the yellow cap has lye in it and that's the one you want. And try to stay up wind when using it.
Man you must have more restraint than i do there’s no way I’d turn the timing back to stock 😂 I’d probably advance further stock timing on a 12 valve sucks
I've got a late '06 (November) 6.7L Cummins I picked up to shoe horn into my '66 Chevy Panel truck (I can get away with running the era-correct 409 badges 😁)... I'd like to convert it over to all mechanical (I have my reasons, lol). I'm thinking a P-Pump conversion (if they exist). Have you ever heard of or done this? If so, any advice or maybe a video since there are none out there?
You should get a medium duty truck with a 6bt Cummins and compare it to your dodge trucks cause they both have same engines but i wanna see more trucks that aren’t dodge lol
That engine might only have 100k on it, but the engine you're pulling out of grandma's truck was supposed to be perfectly fine too. Do the rods and mains now when you have the engine out so you don't have to crawl under the truck or yoink the motor out in a month or two....
Another two cents for the rods and mains. Do it. In a week you'd be telling yerself "I should have." Do 'em now, do 'em when yer a grand dad. Sam Jr, AND Sammy the 3rd will help...........
Wondering if the replacement 12 valve is on a 24 valve block ,and the P-pump 24 valve has a knock on bottom end ? why not swap the 12 vale head with the 24 valve head ?
No offense. But you've already got it out. It would be foolish not to put rods n mains while you have easy access. You don't know how hard it was run before you got it. Just for piece of mind. JMO ;)
Do the bearings while it’s sitting there. Save you the headache in the long run. Keep up the good work!
If you do them now, it's easier and 1 less thing to think about. The next time it will need them Sam Jr. will be able to help! 8) LOL --gary
rods and mains today, high five yourself 10 years from now.
I got those exact valve covers. 12 valve 6bts are damn good engines. simple to work on and very reliable. I daily drive mine to work every day.

Thank you! And I swapped the bearings out and made a video on it since I posted this one

Get this guy to a million subs let's go y'all
The first song intro reminds me of Dmaxryno's intro lol. I follow him also.
it is .....
Good dog Boone. But making me nervous next to the nearly 1000 lb motor.
I would do them when the engine is out on your floor then that way you know things are done correctly. Keep up the good work and stay safe out there
Seeing you did that by yourself. You’d laugh if you saw me and my dad take out just a regular V8 for the first time. We also had no experience at all but it took us longer than it should’ve
Your amazing, thanks for sharing Sam👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
Love waking up to your content brother keep it up 🤘
It's going to be a sweet ride when complete. I would go ahead and do the bearings to be on the safe side. Have a great weekend.
Keep up the good work sam
Awesome video. Keep up the good work. I keep learning from watching. Thanks.
its looking great, cant wait to see compunds on her.
Easier to add compounds with the second oil drain!
Nice looking engine 😬👌🏻

I got a little chubb watching that turbo go on!
Bro I’ve been looking for your channel for a while. It popped up on UA-cam recommendations. Shout out from Racine Wisconsin ✊🏼 love the channel
Boone is such a good doggo, just hanging out 😎
I have a bd 2 piece commonrail manifold on my 12 valve. Runs fine. Working on a second gen swap now.
I like it. It will look better in Grandma’s truck.
That's the way these Cummins should be bought. Already pulled out of the truck waiting for the next owner. Drop in garage with forklift. Replace all seals and throw it back in your rig. Jealous. I suffer replacing all the seals with the engine still in!
Superb!
Very nice engine 👌

Do the work while it is out and you have the time.
Yaaaaa buddy!!!!!!!
Did I see a Milwaukee impact gun? I knew you could do it haha
Yeah I got a couple red rigs now. Pretty happy with them so far
@@VBELTandSON they are definitely the best I have had
Do the rods and mains. One less thing to worry about. And its out of truck
Mack bulldog on the hood of grandmas truck? I want to put a death proof duck on my 99 dodge ram
Sam looks good.did u consider compound turbos like roland? U weren't happy towing w green 12v.cant wait till u run it
Here’s an out there idea but what about putting the p-pump swap on the white 24v
👍
Funny music .sounds like dmaxryno
Eh just send it lol do whatever your budget and time will allow. 👌🏻
Man you must have more restraint than i do there’s no way I’d turn the timing back to stock 😂 I’d probably advance further stock timing on a 12 valve sucks
I’ll mess with it later I just tired of messing with engine for this truck. Just want a runner
You should do everything first while it's out of the truck.
Give it what it needs now as its out save yourself a headache later
Do the rods and mains after all the crap on grandmas truck don’t take any chances!!!!
Engine looks great. I won't do the rod bearings. Unless u were going to upgrade them. That just me. Don't fix what is not broken. But it looks great😀

Nice. You shouldget at least 5,000 miles out of it...
You got cats for your photo?

I'd replace them, it's might as well do it.
Man swap a cummins into my 5.4l f250 i was a diesel hella bad and a 7.3/6.0l would take too much time and money
fire me up donnie
Imagine how much money Greg A has in his trucks
100 now or 1000 later. Rebuild it......
Huh?
@@VBELTandSON save the time and money. Freshen it up now. Piece of mind is priceless right??
So I don’t need to get my rockers machined down? Just don’t use the washers?
Nope
Over cleaner safe to use on my motor in my truck just to clean it up? Not pulling it, just want to clean it up some
Yeah I do it
Ok. Thanks
@@jacobdicesare2032 Just be mindful that oven cleaner reacts with aluminum.
Ok thanks monster ram
Wow first guy here! View #1!
I trying to find a smoke screw plug. Mine was lost. Any ideas where I can get one for my 12 valve p7100?
Try eBay yet?
@@VBELTandSON yes I have. No one has one. I don't know the specs on it or I'd make one

Do mains and rods save u a problem long run
Yup I ordered them suckers
Why not do the work now? Will keep you from pulling the engine again....
Only 100k? Nah, don't even bother replacing them. They're just barely breaking in at that mileage
I changed them. Was worth it. Weren’t bad but not perfect
Can I buy those rims? Please
Don’t use a cement block like that, they don’t have strength in that direction and can easily crumble.
Been supporting this engine just like that for over a year
Nah I wouldn’t, it sounds good, you’re just gun shy from all the crapy motors u got.
buy a cheep forklift and loose that cherry picker...
I have a Kubota 🤔
