Did look like an amazing spot to camp. Too bad about the other campers deciding to invade your space. I always thought there is enough back country area that you shouldn’t be able to see your closest neighbors there and if you can they are too close. Btw if you haven’t tried it already, forward progress IPA from Annex is my fav by far

Where is it brewed ? Is it local ? And yes no idea why they decided to camp there

Look at ol' Jerry go, like a regular les stroud starting a fire with natural tinder and a ferro rod. Little help from the rope lighter but still. Good job brother. Love the camping content.

Beautiful spot Jerry! I always enjoy your drone shots of the surrounding area .Some people just don't get it as far as privacy goes. Like you said there is so many spots to camp there so why do they have to camp so close to you guys. I get it if the other sites are full however I like my privacy as well as the other guy. Take care my friend and say Hi to Ms. Carmen for me.

Such a beautiful area, I have never been on that road before. It's definitely on my list when I make it back.
The lack of respect for the environment is so frustrating. I started wheeling in the Calgary area back in 2001 and have slowly watched trails and areas get shut down due to people being idiots.
And why the eff would someone choose to camp right next to someone else who is all set up. That's irritating. Should have left your bucket where it was and full send with some beef and bean burritos.

Jerry, I learned this trick from being in Boy Scouts. Save the lint from the trap of your clothes dryer in a zip lock bag. Take a handful and strike your flint sparks at it to start your camp fire. This stuff burns like crazy.

We had some people move in on us camping in Crocket National Forest once. My brother walked over to them and said Nice people shouldn't be so close, we usually party all night and make a lot of racket. They left. lol

Yeah , it’s an unwritten rule , if the spot you want to camp is taken … move on … unless they are really cool , say hello and offer a beer and they invite you to camp with them , and viola you have new friends .

Calgary is not the same city it was when I move here 30 years ago and neither is the back country. As you mentioned you have seen more changes than me and it’s only going to get worse

@@BackCountryWrenching Very true. Have a hard time watching much of the back country get destroyed. Technology and social media have allowed many of these areas to be accessible to those that would have never been able to locate these spots just 20 years ago. Calgary, as is most of Alberta is out of control. Not fair lumping you in with the rest, you are a welcome site, the bulk of people in this province now are just transfering wealth or here just for the jobs. And yes its just going to get worse.

Years ago I got a book called "How to $#!+ in the woods" that was written by a lady who river guides
One of the things she described in there is what I've knicknamed "The Poop Tube"
Take a section of PVC plumbing tube (4" or greater) and put a seal cap on one end and a screw cap on the other
Before each use, drop a handful of kitty litter into the bottom, drop your load on papertowel then fold & drop into the tube.
Get home, spill contents of tube into garbage, rinse out, air dry & use on the next trip
It works well, small footprint for carry & no scent worth mentioning

    • @BackCountryWrenching
      @BackCountryWrenching  2 місяці тому +4

That is probably one of the most disgusting and dumber things that I have ever heard of to do. Just dig a hole instead of trying to shit on paper towel and shovel it down a tube…….
