Had new tyres fitted after the service on our van (service carried out on site in Great Haywood) when we got home. The old ones were out of date. So, all good advice this Mark. They weren't overly expensive to be honest. Keep up the good work mate.
We cook in the van and on our Teppanyaki in the awning or outside. I used to do a lasagna to go away but I did a cottage pie with veggies in it last time. I did it in a foil dish that went in the oven as there were 3 of us it would have been too much for the microwave. It travelled quite well. We have a Bailey Cadiz same kitchen as the Cabrera I love all the worktop space, because of allergies I cook most things from scratch so it’s perfect.
Hello, just thought I would mention that right now Aldi are doing a ferret Moisture sensor meter for £9.99 maybe slip it in as a way to monitor your caravan over the winter months... it is one with the 2 electrodes and does other materials swell as wood.
Thanks as ever for the tips. 👍 I like your no no nonesense reviews and humour. My c'van gets serviced today and then there's just one more trip before we 'winterise'. Can you maybe refresh some of your earlier vids please? 😊
I enjoy watching your RV reviews. Humour, facts, nice reviews and you come across as a nice honest guy. I could be wrong lol, don't know you personally. But great videos.
I cook inside but now use my air fryer in the caravan plus my microwave ! Summer use a small bbq - PLEASE. Can you go through how to winter rise your caravan ! Mines going into storage end of oct for 5 months then back out on site !
Another important check when checking tyres is the condition of the tyre valves, as an ex mobile caravan engineer I came across several valves which literally came away in my hand when pulled to check condition, these should be replaced at the same time as new tyres
Re cooking in the caravan, we sometimes eat out and other times cook inside the van, occasionally we'll bring in fish and chips, really depends on where we are. However, we always have breakfast in the van, what's reallt annoying is the grill on the Thetford cooker in our 2018 Swift Celeste 480 se, it's useless. I would love the Thetford designers to come and toast some nice evenly toasted slices of bread, it's impossible!
We buy a box of table salt from the cash n carry then on atleast 2 occassions over winter leave 4 cereal bowls of salt throughout the 'van which absorbs any moisture in the air.
We cook mostly in the ‘van, sometimes take a pre-prepared spag Bol or similar, we use the oven, but seldom use the electric ring, ( can’t see the point of it)?we try to be as much off grid as possible, we go out early in the year if weather is good and try to do October half term too 😊
Yes we , or I should say my wife cooks in the caravan, we get sorry, my wife goes to the local farm shop and buys ready meals, then she will cook them in the oven or microwave, and we eat out once or twice if we are away for a week or more.
We cook, like you, pre-prepared meals but we use tin foil containers with lids. We then freeze them and on day of travelling leave one out of the cold bag to eat that night. All you do is heat in the oven then throw away. And you don't have to take the plastic containers back home!
Hi Mark, enjoying your tips keep them coming. We cook now again in the van, although we try to eat meals that don’t require cooking on the stove. what was the make/name of the last caravan you went in. Really like the front kitchen design. Charlie
Great video. Wait a second! Didn’t you say in the video the stolen caravan owners were unaware of its status since it had been resold to them? You confiscated it but could not pay them for a stolen vehicle. Why would YOU sell it? Did you finally buy it from them?
So the original purchaser never did a Cris check, so when the caravan came in part exchange and we checked it, the police made us hold the caravan until the situation had been resolved, so had to wait about 6 weeks for the police and insurance company to sort it and remove from the watch list and then be able to release the caravan for part exchange. 👍 It can now be sold as its no longer arrested 🤣
During the summer months, we don't use the gas cooker inside at all. With temperatures over 35C and a humidity level of over 80%, boiling something like a kettle is going to make the inside of the caravan a sauna. Even with air conditioning. So, if not at an RV Park (Somewhat similar to a CL site in the UK) with cooking outside restrictions, then we do all of our cooking outside. However, if at an RV Park, which are often on hotel premises, we take advantage (if not ridiculously expensive) of the buffet dinner and especially the breakfast. In winter, it is the opposite. In spring and the autumn, depending on the temperature and elevation, it can be in or out. I like to visit local restaurants and sample the local cuisine wherever possible. As for tyres, I rotate between summer and winter tyres anyway with the winter tyres on both car and caravan in late November until early April. Winter tyres are required by law here (🇯🇵).
Great to see the difference in Japan, We are hoping to come to a show and have a look at the different options available for camping, RV and caravanning 👍
We cook meals in are caravan and sometimes take are slow cooker and put currys in them with nice jacket potato lovely 👍
Thanks Steve 👍

Best to be safe 👍
Grant, any recommendations on mobile service mechanic as I reckon my van is in the same storage as you if it's Great Haywood

We always cook in the van, don’t fry, just take our George Foreman grill. No longer bother with taking the barbecue.

👍Yes make sure you check before the day of your holiday too 🙈.
You need to check with your insurance with tyres as they have an age limit on them
Yes 5-7 years max age 👍

It's a more cost effective way to do it 👍

Hi Mark, we do in and out depends on whether PS at the end of the video what caravan were you in? As I like the layout.
Was with one with fold up bit on bed? It's the Adria Rio Grande 👍
Hi Mark, enjoying your tips keep them coming. We cook now again in the van, although we try to eat meals that don’t require cooking on the stove.
what was the make/name of the last caravan you went in. Really like the front kitchen design.
Charlie
Hi Charlie thanks 👍, was it the Adria Rio Grande with the kitchen at the front?
We do xmas dinner in our van
It's a lovely way to do Christmas 👍

Do you leave the caravan windows on the first latch when in storage
Only if using a cover. If not then keep them locked fully., 👍
I want this van so much I've been looking for this colour cupboard, right size bed, shower etc ,only thing is electric hob
It's nice 👍
May I ask what the last van you looked through was, haven’t seen that layout before with the kitchen at the back, many thanks.
It's the Adria Rio Grande, kitchen at the front 👍
Are you going to break that caravan or are you selling as spares?
Sell as it is 👍
