I would like to actually see a comparison video of the FC6 and the RU6
Great video! Can we appreciate the stellar background tracks, damn groovy!
didn't we see this video already? I have this deja-vu feeling... but the review is great as always :)
Dave, excellent review as always. This is an interesting device, I have both the Ru6 and the FC6 on order arriving this week. I will keep one at home and one at the office.
Hi could you share your views on both dongles Thanks, especially the soundstage
whats ur thought about ru6 n fc6 harris?
@@Erdein I like that RU6 has a balanced output over the FC6, however to be honest, I like the sound of the FC6 better In my opinion, the soundstage is larger and the mids as fuller. I returned the RU6, kept the FC6 and ordered a HiBy RS6 DAP from MusicTeck.
Do you still like the FC6 ? Have you used it in your home stereo ? That is what I am planning on doing. I wonder if running a phone to 2 RCA cable is an issue for the sound quality ? Any recommendations for one ?
Please share experience over time :) do u like it still? Any issues? Is the sound analytical or more colored sound
The FC6 is an amazing R2R Dongle DAC. Packs easily in your IEM case so you'll have HiRes music wherever you go. IEM'ers, don't get confused about the power...it's very powerful to the point where if you frequently go 90% on the FC6...you're gonna suffer hearing loss. I have the BTR7... now it's for sale...only took 1hr of A/B comparisons. Giving up the BTR7 Bluetooth/Battery advantage because this DAC sounds that good. I use NOS combined with the Darwin Ultra filter. Great video
Great review of this new device, thank you.
As an owner of the Cayin RU6 I have to say it does sound very good. There are some drawbacks but for the the sound they are worth it. The RU6 uses a ladder for volume control and not just the DAC section which means you get Pops when hitting multiples of 10 while adjusting the volume, 10, 20, 30 and so on there is an audible yet not painfully loud Pop. The RU6 also features not only a 3.5mm but also a 4.4mm and it also has much more power. The RU6 is at the same price point or was when I bought mine and it's in my daily rotation. It is superior to the BTR5 in sound quality as I compared them side by side, at least to me that is. I'm also an owner of the HiBy R5 Gen2 which I also adore although even when hooked up to it's type C charging port is only good for about an Hour and 1/2 when running in type A mode with my Edition XS at a volume setting of 63. It is not an RTR sound but man is it good. As far as the RU6 it is very good although you do get the occasional Pop/Crackle which R2R DACs are known to produce but even with that annoyance the sound it produces with the headphones and IEMs in my collection is very, very good. I'd be hard pressed to pick a favorite between my SU9n/A30 Pro desktop setup, the HiBy and the RU6 they all have their strengths and weaknesses and I love them all.
Wow, sorry for the book of a comment and thank you again for this review.
I will be skipping this one though because at this point almost everything in my collection uses the 4.4mm balanced connection even though I can change cables and ends I just prefer it.
Oh and not that it matters but I guess I'm obligated to say FIRST, LOL...
Thanks for sharing the experience, could you comment on the soundstage improvement of these dongles?
It would have been nice to say something about how it compares to rs2,especially since that is r2r as well.Nice one though.Thank you.
You should review the iBasso DC04 Pro, I wonder what your thoughts are on that budget DAC
Noise with Samsung phones using NOS
I'm genuinely curious as to the rationale in only having a 3.5mm output 🤔
my first guess is cost because at $300 as is, imagine how much more it would be with a balanced output
The Cayin RU6 is also an R2R dongle with both 3.5 and 4.4 that is smaller has more power also priced at $299. So if cost was a factor it was one of them making more money by having less features...
@@PastorwithoutaPulpit RU6 is only $250!
@Gizaudio Dave, how would you compare RS2 when used as a DAC to the FC6? Especially the midrange that the FC6 excels. I own an RS2 and I am interested to hear your observation. Thanks in advance.
I love your channel. Between fc6 and btr7 which one would pair better with hisenior mega5 Est? I am building my first set up and like to listen to pop, jazz, rap, soft rock, electronic, classical but no metal. Want to get the pairing correct and can extend budget. Sadly in Dubai, I dot have the option to hear these or return them after buying.
Thx for great review👍, so generally for example, the BTR7 is more suitable for EDM, hiphop etc and the HiBy for acoustic, vocals, rock etc..? thanks
Nah just go with Cayin RU6. With 4.4, more power, cheaper price and good reviews.
Hiby is too proud ignoring its competitions.
No balanced at that price tho
Yeah, basically deal killer right there. Or would be different if neither the RU6 and RU7 existed. But they do, so.
@mensrea1251 also hard to find the ru6 and the dac in this is apparently better lol so kinda more fairness and the ru7 is a dsd dac so its whatever
Balanced does not always mean better. Better amp and dac circuit architecture can be just as good as balanced
@@KanyeWestFan69 Yes, true, but why not both? There’s nothing preventing a good design that is balanced within a reasonable budget, not today. The problem with not having balanced is power - some iems and most full sized cans need the extra juice to sound right. It doesn’t matter how well designed the circuitry is if you can’t drive the equipment.
@@mensrea1251 Being balanced doesn’t mean having high power output necessarily though. You totally can have a single ended dac amp with crazy power output
Buena video. Comparelo con el Luxury and precisión w2 131, por favor.
The W4 is around the corner, coming at 2999 rmb in China.
Now that Cayin Ru7 is also in the market, how does this compare? ALso if you can add the amazingly priced Ibass0 Dc-04 (where i live, DC6 is more than twice the cost, and RU7 is 2.5 times the cost of DC04Pro). Thanks.
@@mokisanin what ways is fc6 better than DCO4 pro
@@mokisanthanks for that. Definitely piqued my interest. Just one thing: enough power to drive headphones like Senns hd660s2 as well with headroom or just iems?
@@mokisan thanks!
@@mokisan guess this is what some users of it call as classical warm Analoguish sound.
@@mokisanI am also interested in the upcoming iBasso DC-Elite.. Looks promising though pricey.
Will the Hiby FC6 and its software play bit perfect high resolution from, say, Amazon HD ultra with an Android phone ? I recall that Android downsamples everything to 16/44 so their app would need to get around this, no ?
This is plain odd. This channel is the same as Timmy Gizaudio and when you click the channel link above - it takes you to Timmy's site! I've watched video's from the guy in this video here, and thought his channel had a different name entirely...
Maybe it's a corporate acquisition in the influencer business.
would it be reasonable to throw a phono to 2 RCA cable on this and use it in the home stereo ?
I got real issues with my hiby fc4 the damn thing is fully updated to latest firmware (v.10) and it makes a ticking noise for over a minute on youtube on android... exclusive players are fine... but these bugs shy me away from fc6
I have a question, how big of a difference would there be using the FC6($300.00) with an iPhone 14 proMX vs HiBy R6 Gen III / Gen 3 Portable Audio Music Player.($500.00) ear phones using Dunu SA6 MKII / MK2. Trying to make a choice!!
Either one will work very well with SA6 MK2. R6 Gen III will give you more sound customization and will have a slightly more linear presentation than FC6. Thanks for watching!
Does anyone out there have this DAC or an FC6 and an iFi zen stream ? Wondering if that streamer can power the dongles by USB ?
Suitable with fiio ft5 ?
What iems did you find to pair best with the fc6?
I use it with Final A4000s and they sound great!
off topic but i have the timeless, now i am deciding on blessing 3 or variations🤔
plase check kz pr1 pro😊
HiBy is crazy trying to charge $300 for this dongle. No Bluetooth support, no 4.4mm balanced output, low power output. Way overpriced, even if the sound quality is above average for a dongle. I got the HiBy FC4 at $60 brand new and it has much higher power output when using it's 4.4mm balanced output. A screen and better SQ is not worth $200+.
Bluetooth? Hahah
I agree the price is high. But my guy, using bluetooth with r-2r is like putting ketchup on a wagyu beef
Why would this have Bluetooth? It would defeat the purpose of the R2R technology.
@@avavaviv1 Really. How many ABX comparisons have you done where you could tell the difference between wired lossless transmission into the DAC and 16/44.1/909kbps LDAC transmission via Bluetooth?
No balance out and buggy software its a no go especially they charge more than the competitor they are milking this way too much what a joke. I hear RU6 sound better for some people too.
Great video! Can we appreciate the stellar background tracks, damn groovy!
