Thanks Dan, had a failure on one motor mover, thought it would cost me hundreds to repair, saw this video and ordered two brushes and swapped them myself. Motor mover now working. Thanks.
Hi Dan, just watched this to give me the confidence to replace the perished rubber boots on my mover! Never seen under the van before and suddenly there I was detaching cables and replacing bits😂😂 Thanks for a clear helpful description. I'm off to change the world now!!!
Great video. Had a problem with one of my brushes. Didn’t know it at the time, but your video had me looking and found out that one was a little sticky, and didn’t connect unless pressed. Removed it as per your video, and cleaned out cavity, cleaned the brush, reinserted and bingo. Many thanks. 👍
I replaced the brushes, boots, springs and put the covers over the movers at the weekend. I'm a complete amateur with this stuff but it took me 25 minutes to do both sides after watching the film. absolute piece of cake! it would have cost a small fortune at the service centre, thanks!!
I want to thank you for the video, as you've saved me about £500 I rang powertouch up and they said because im not the original owner, the no quibble guarantee wasn't valid, They said it sounds like a new motor, So really appreciate your video Kind regards
Nice vid Dan. Always pays the check the obvious things, this could save 100's of pounds on a new mover! Great work. A pal of mine gave me his old Makita impact driver as it was working intermittently (no good for him as a joiner - needs to work every time), found replacement brushes on eBay for £4 and now works every time :) He was gutted!
haha, good stuff Andy. Hope you guys are well. Yes i like to know why stuff breaks, and if there is a way I can fix it. Then i can apply a fix etc. Take care - see you guys again soon.
Have you tried taking off the side covers yet? Mine are stuck fast. They wouldn’t even come out with a large screwdriver levering them. In fact one side cracked (on the inside) so I gave up and tapped it back in. I’d be interested to know if you have a similar problem.
@@TheTrudgians thanks for your help, that is sound advice and ye of course there will be no power as the isolation will be on little things I didn't think of 😂😂
Not sure Mark to be 100% honest. it might be worth checking in with your manufacturer and check if this is possible, you may even have a brushless motor. Take care Dan
Hi Dan, Looking for some help with a motor mover issue. When the motor mover isn’t engaged the rollers roll as you would expect it to backwards and forwards. However when I engage the rollers it seems as if it doesn’t have enough power to move the wheels either way. Do you think replacement brushes would sort this problem ? Leisure Battery seems to have plenty charge any advice appreciated. thanks
Got to look at mine this weekend I can hear the motor running but the arm is not retracting out to the tire so not 100% sure yet what it may be any idea before I go and strip it down Top video again ty
Hi, it might be a couple of things, either the roller is worn, the spring has lost its tension or a mucky carriage. If its a PowerTouch - do give them a call, their after sales service is amazing. they will quite possibly tell you where the issue actually is. Hope that helps. Dan
The Trudgians hi cheers for the reply I had a look at the weekend :( you can hear the motor and the roller is spinning seems it won't head out to the wheels I believe it's the actuator gone very costly looking on powertouch site we have the evolution £125 lol If there's a cheaper source of these than let me know lol Cheer again for your time
Sorted it and so simple lol for some that may get the same issue as I did the arm does not retract but roller moves Basically inside the mover is a small sensor that for some reason either it's failed to hit the sensor or you have not allows it to reset but all you do is remove the plastic cover as you see in this video and at the back end on the actuator you will see a small plastic bung remove that and inside is a small 7mm bolt stick w socket on that and very gently turn it clockwise say an inch turn then remove socket and try your arm should start to move again if not turn the opposite way and try that This worked for me hope it helps To add mine is the Evo version automatic mover
Great video as usual guys. Just wondering about battery disconnection before starting work. It seems to be a recommendation for safety on most electrical work these days. Was it not necessary with movers due to their separate isolation switch ?
Hi Adrian, yes - disconnect the battery if worried, we isolated our motor mover before we started any work. only current would flow if the motor is activated. Thanks Dan
Really helpful video thanks. However, you got the tapered block the wrong way round - it should draw into the outer rectangular bit when tightened so as to expand it; yours (and everyone else’s who’s commented?!) might just be sat against it (though it obviously still bulged out as it did seem secure). Nice tip for the pointer too.
Hi love the videos very useful, any chance of you doing a video on syncing new remote to the powrtouch AWD as looks easy but sure I am missing something
Had a motor mover on our from new 2007 Alpine2 that had to early 2019, forgotten its make but it was not the powrtouch, and we never had anything replaced or fail on it. See how our new powrtouch manual lasts on the new caravan?🤞
Thanks Dan, never short of DIY with a caravan. I think we have the same mover so a pair of snazzy covers will be ordered. Ours is 11 yes old but hardly (like the van), used. So I would estimate the brushes to be OK, but will check. You wouldn't want to see the state of some I've replaced on some 230v motors.
Oh i can imagine the 230v ones were quite interesting. I would imagine your brushes would be fine, after all motor movers don't run for long, but worth popping out & checking. Hope you are well. Dan
Another great vlog guys , Can i ask How old was the mover before any of this work needed doing ? We have a Powrtouch evolution on our van which was fitted by the last owner and is now 5 and half years old, I am just wondering if it may be time to replace these bits now before they break down, The gap we have to get through when we get the van out is so small we need really need the mover and could do without any failure when doing so. Thanks again for another great vlog :-)
Hi Peter, Our motor mover i would think is as old as the van, so 7 years old. We rarely use the mover, but when we do we need it for a really good reason etc. Perhaps this is why ours failed, through lack of use etc ? I hope that helps. Dan
I thought someone may be able to help : Ive a problem with the fridge in my S/H caravan. I can see the gas jet burning throught the sight glass, but it won't make frost where ever I pull the thermastat, any ideas ?
Hi, I would strongly recommend you get someone to look at your fridge, especially when dealing with gas. it could be straight forward, it could be something else. its not worth the risk. Hope that helps Dan
Ah, but with this knowledge, if it happens to my new caravan that has a Classic fitted, I'll know just what to do. The covers look tidy too. You make me spend money too, Duvalays, and now mover accessories :D Thanks.

As a newcomer to caravanning, thanks very much. I've watched a few of your videos which I found extremely informative & very well made. Thanks again.

Have you got a video showing how to replace the rollers on the emove 303
Sadly not.
Hi Dan, I'm looking at replacing the brushes as one side isn't working, do you have to disconnect the battery before doing this job ?
Thanks Adrian
Hi Adrian, no, I didn’t but make sure the isolator for the mover is set to off. No power should be anywhere near the motors.
@@TheTrudgians thanks for your help, that is sound advice and ye of course there will be no power as the isolation will be on little things I didn't think of 😂😂
Brilliant. Mine has just stopped working. This will save me a few quid. Thanks.

Not sure Mark to be 100% honest. it might be worth checking in with your manufacturer and check if this is possible, you may even have a brushless motor.

Fab I have Truma M2 ...any idea where to get new brushes from ? Most dealers charge £70 supply only...
Have you spoken to the people at PowrTouch. they maybe able to assist and point you in the right direction.
Could you let me know where you got those bushes please because they are the same as the ones on mine thank you
Great tips again Dan. Such an easy job when you know how. Thanks for your help 👍

Thanks for your video. 1 or 2 brushes on each motor ? Thank you !
Morning, there are 2 brushes per motor. When you buy them, you get a pair to repair 1 motor.
Hope that helps.
Dan
Thank you so much
one brush each side of motor
Hi love the videos very useful, any chance of you doing a video on syncing new remote to the powrtouch AWD as looks easy but sure I am missing something

Hi, yes it is.
loving the life lessons you are passing down to your son...."it's ok to pretend". love it. ROFL
You should hear some of the "off camera" life lessons....
Cheers for popping by.
Dan
Is it me or has the new brush without any grooves in fact got grooves in it like a Whitworth thread ?
Did I miss you re connecting the blue terminal wire?
No you didn't, i didn't film this as its out of camera shot.
My motor mover says short to chassis what does this mean please

The push on terminals get corroded and should be replaced as well
Another great tip. Be careful of the young, good looking fella, who's looking over your shoulder.... I think he may be after your job 😂
