      Amen! I lived in a townhome community that went from white, to mixed, to black, to Ethiopian and they made it clear we are not the same people at all!! Those Ethiopians had NO respect for the sacrifices made that allowed them to get off a plane and live their best life. I moved. And although I reference Ethiopians I've seen that with Liberians and Nigerians. Nope, we are NOT the same people!!

      @Sun City United Soccer Academy of Sun....what African Americans fail to do is do the research and do the math. We have been lied to about our history because we are rich and chosen. Look at us here in America. We whose ancestors are from this land are totally different from Africans. Those in the Caribbean can relate to them, we cannot. Nothing against them....we are just different. Black Americans, whose ancestors are from here are really the Black Europeans and Black American Indigenous Indians.....not native Americans( they are different and from Mongolia and Siberia). Some Black Irish are in Jamaica ( Patwa-Gaelic dialect). Otherwise we have no connection to Nigeria or Ghana. We are from Europe and the land of America. We are the original black folks of America....not immigrants!!!

They are called Gullah people and came to America to pick rice. They have maintained their culture and are unique t us. Nice people but they have their own culture with a mixed African flavor.. @@dajialaw220 they need to not come here expecting to find America. They need to come with a blank slate and adapt to life here. The areas she mentioned are very expensive to live in. Yes the roads are bad so expect to spend longer getting to where you are going.
      There is no hot water running out of the taps because most of the year, Ghana is so hot, you are yearning for that cool shower. For the few cool months in the year, we either heat water on the stove or install hot water tanks. They are readily available and can be done by a good plumber.
      With the scams and rip offs, that is so true. Everyone is trying to get one over you. A lot of people lie about cost of things and how much their services will be, time of completion etc It is endless. How do we deal with it? References and trial and error. You also have to be willing to do a lot of leg work. If say, you want that water heater installed, go out into town and shop around, and compare prices. Don't rely on the honesty of the workman.
      There are a lot of things that don't work here and we know that, but there are a lot of great things here that we love and can't get anywhere else. Same can be said for America. You have inner-city gangs and gun violence that we don't have to deal with here.
      As for her talk about no snacks, that is one of the silliest comments she made. Is she talking about specific brands? Even those, you can find in a lot of the big supermarkets around. Apart from that, there are a lot of local snacks you can find and enjoy for very cheap, I might add. Talk about plantain snacks alone and I can name 5 off the top of my head. Open yourself to experience a new culture and you will love it, instead of turning your nose up at it and comparing it to America. I have family living in America who always load up on Ghanaian snacks when going back.
      All this said, Ghana is not for everyone. Come down, give it an open, fair shot. If you don't like it, that's fine too.

To include markets, food, language, clothing, music, movies, daily norms, etc. You'll have a better start, though some things WILL still be missed and won't click until you're in the country...just be willing to learn and embrace what you can. My friend recently rented her 4 bedroom house, 2 baths and toilets for $220 per month. Its in a wall fence too. But anyways, people choose where they wanna go and its ok. To me, for those who want peace and quiet life, then ghana has some areas you can live that way. However, Africa has more countries than all the townships of accra. In America we visit Mexico, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic etc., we get great package deals including room and board, food transportation all in comfort. In Africa we think all we have to do is get there and make deals from folks that are like us when we get there. Africans don't have the same energy for us. They see us as a means to there needs because we're rich, may it be greed or otherwise. You can probably get great accommodations if you book your trip to Africa through a travel Co. You'll pay a lot and most of us wont go that route... We go we try but most of the time we're disappointed like this young lady and her family.

      @@spandegwa I bet the fact that she is American and on the big side....people possibly viewed her as lazy and has the money to match. I hear alot of people who are native to another country talk about how when people are big sized they are viewed as lazy. I won't say all people think this however the people I have talked to think this way. It seems like she is talking down on Africa due to her isolated experiences. Has she talked to anyone else that shared her experience? Does she know her actual goals when she went there? She says she doesn't need anyone....everyone needs someone on some type of level. I dont like the fact she is talking about her experience like it represents the whole country where she decided to conduct business etc.... She hasn't said anything that doesn't happen in America ....heck there are some places in America that she would never be accepted nor would she be able to thrive there. I know so many folks that have moved to Africa that are thriving business people and I know people that moved to Atlanta and didnt like it so they moved back to their home state. Everyone will experience things based on their spirit, attitude, and goals. You are what you attract whether we want to accept that or not and this universal law applies no matter where you go. I am not into bashing folks that share their experiences with the world, I'm sure what she said is what she felt. The man that spoke after her was absolutely right when he said there are people that are messed up everywhere you go however, for every messed up person there is the opposite and moving forward those should be the ones you seek to surround yourself with.

      She’s telling the absolute truth. Why can’t y’all ask an Africa living in America to tell the Godly truth before moving to Africa. Why don’t y’all think of African struggling to come to America and dying 10s of 1000 dying every year crossing the Mediterranean to Europe.

    • @HereDiianas
      @HereDiianas 3 роки тому +13

      @@williams7578 Oh please stop watching the news. MOST black Africans in Europe went there with a visa. Working visa, student visa, family visa. Yes some risk their lives because they don't see hope in the COUNTRIES they are from. But do you know the percentage? Nope, because they don't want to show you that the majority of Africans stay in their own countries. 90% of the ones who choose to migrate do it in other AFRICAN COUNTRIES where they have better opportunities. The 10% left who choose to leave the continent go to France, the US, Canada, China, Russia, the UK, Belgium, Australia.... And most of those leave with a VISA. And guest what many of those also choose to go back to their continent (same country or a different one) after a while. And let's not pretend that foreigners do not move to the continent too. From Americans, to Chinese, to Portuguese, to French to British people they are all other the continent and they were the ones to come first uninvited so what are they complaining about now...
      You expect Africans to tell you a lie so you would feel more comfortable... Ask 20 Africans from 20 different countries and they will tell you 20 different stories. Anybody with commun sense would first visit a country several times and learn about the country (food, religion, politics, health system, real estate, banking system, schools, currency stability, economy) and make sure they have at least a few strong connections there, or that means they are READY to struggle and learn the hard way. That's how you move to an other continent. Even Africans who risk their life by boat to go to Europe know that. That's the lesson 101 of moving abroad.
