- China and the Philippines have been embroiled in another heated standoff over competing claims in the South China Sea, after a Philippine convoy sailed towards the Scarborough Shoal. The group Atin Ito -- which means "this is ours" in Tagalog -- was on a mission to distribute provisions to Philippine fishermen, as well as to assert their rights in the disputed waterway. The effort was led by five commercial vessels, with about 200 volunteers, foreign observers and journalists on board. Beijing has accused Manila of "deliberately stirring up trouble", and demanded it to stop the "provocations".

According to UNCLOS laws, the Scarborough Shoal is a high-tide elevation within the 🇵🇭 Philippine's EEZ.
Therefore, it's part of the EEZ and belongs to the Philippines 🇵🇭.

Having read most of the comments here, I found a lot of Filipino trolls, if not bots. They are very uneducated, if not malicious as being selective about international laws; cherry-picking parts of laws that favor them while ignoring laws that puts them at the disadvantage. Laws cannot be accepted and applied partially. They are either accepted and applied in its entirety, or not at all. The 2 main arguments that they use are the 1980 UNCLOS, and the close proximity between the disputed islets and the Philippines. Both of these arguments can be refuted easily.
UNCLOS came into effect in 1980, but made it very clear that sovereign claims and ownership made prior to its establishment in 1980 are not nullified by it. China made her sovereignty claims to the South China Sea islets and reefs way back in 1947, while the Philippines' claims were made in the 1960s and 70s. Sovereign ownership according to international norms comes at a first come first serve basis. If the Philippines wants to make its claims to the SCS islets and reefs more legitimate than China's then it should have made those claims earlier than the Chinese did in 1947, and not use the UNCLOS as an poor excuse to nullify China's claims since UNCLOS cannot be used to nullified prior claims by its own definition. Otherwise, there is another solution for the Philippines: fight a war with China and defeat China in order to force China into signing a treaty in which China gives up sovereign claims to the disputed SCS islets and reefs and recognizes the islets and reefs' sovereignty belongs to the Philippines instead. If you Filipinos can achieve that, then do it, otherwise stop barking around.
Regarding the arguments based on proximity, why don't you Filipinos claim sovereign over Guam? Guam is closer to the Philippines than it is to the mainland USA or even outlying Hawaii. Is it becuase you Filipinos only dare to agitate China but not your de-facto masters in the USA? LOL! India's Andaman and Nicobar islands are closer to Myanmar and Indonesia respectively than they are closer to India, so does not mean Andaman and Nicobar do not belong to India? Some of Singapore's sovereign islands and reefs are closer to Malaysia or Indonesia than main island Singapore, so does that mean they do not belong to Singapore? If that logic is correct, that perhaps certain outlying Filipino islands, being further away from Luzon or Mindanao but closer to Borneo are not Philippines but are in fact Malaysia's, Indonesia's or Brunei's. LMFAO!
And please stop invoking the 2016 SCS verdict. That was a political farce orchestrated by Aquino III govt and its de-facto masters in Washington DC, aiming at de-legitimizing China's historical claims to the SCS islands and reefs made all the way back in 1947. It is a farce because the court that issued the verdict was setup by the US-led Western alliance and not the legitimate international court that is the UNICJ. They only used the same venue/courtroom as the UNICJ, but it is not the same court. It is a kin to the unequal treaties that the Western powers forced China into signing in the 19th century. Difference is China back then cannot defend herself, but the modern China can. Truth be told, that farce of a show they call an international legal verdict is useless. The more useful way to nullify China's 1947 sovereign claims to the SCS islands and reefs is again, fight and defeat China in a war to force China into giving up her 1947 claims. But you Filipinos are unable to do that. Not only you, but your de-facto American master cannot either as even the USA is unsure of defeating China in an all-out military conflict today.
And the most ridiculous argument is that the SCS islands and reefs are the Philippines because Aquino III renamed the SCS as the West Philippines Sea. LOL!!! Then why don't you rename all of the world's ocean as the Philippines Oceans, then all the world's oceans will belong to the Philippines!? LMFAO!!!
Anyway, why is the Philippines agitating China on the SCS islands and reefs dispute now out of all other times? Perhaps because Marcos Jr. is a weak leader and in order to maintain his position in power, has to willingly turn himself into an American poodle, and the USA, being in competition with China on many matters, would logically be using Marcos Jr.'s Philippines to put pressure on China in the SCS, although such pressure is comparative small. This is unlike the Philippines during Duterte's presidency when he came a distance away from the Americans and not agitating China on the SCS islands and reefs dispute issue. But that's OK for China though, because regardless of who's in charge in the Philippines, it doesn't have the capability to challenge China. So here is my suggestion to the Philippines if you Filipinos wants to expand your territories: Why don't you ask the USA to cede some of their Pacific islands to you? You have a good relationship with the USA. I am sure the Americans would be glad to give some of their Pacific islands over to you. You and the Americans are friends, right? So go ahead and ask USA to give you those Pacific American islands instead of agitating China in the SCS. LOL!!!

LOL!!!

LOL!!!

The Spratly islands and the Scarborough Shoal were not ceded to the Philippines.
CONSTITUTION OF THE PHILIPPINES
Article I.-THE NATIONAL TERRITORY
Section 1. The Philippines comprises all the territory ceded to the United States by the treaty of Paris concluded between the United States and Spain on the tenth day of December, eighteen hundred and ninety-eight, the limits of which are set forth in Article III of said treaty, together with all the islands embraced in the treaty concluded at Washington, between the United States and Spain on the seventh day of November, nineteen hundred, and in the treaty concluded between the United States and Great Britain on the second day of January, nineteen hundred and thirty, and all territory over which the present Government of the Philippine Islands exercises jurisdiction.
SOUTH CHINA SEA has been Chinese territory since ancient times, and the United States and Spain have no right to give it to the Philippines.
The South China Sea islands of China include the Dongsha Islands, Xisha Islands, Zhongsha Islands, and Nansha Islands. The Chinese people have been active in the South China Sea for over 2,000 years. China was the first to discover, name, and develop the South China Sea islands and their adjacent waters, and has continuously, peacefully, and effectively exercised sovereignty and jurisdiction over the South China Sea islands and their adjacent waters, establishing territorial sovereignty and related rights and interests in the South China Sea.
After the end of World War II, China reclaimed the South China Sea islands that Japan had illegally occupied during its war of aggression against China and resumed the exercise of sovereignty. To strengthen the management of the South China Sea islands, the Chinese government reviewed and revised the geographical names of the South China Sea islands in 1947, compiled the "Brief Geography of the South China Sea Islands," and drew the "Location Map of the South China Sea Islands" with the dotted line indicating the territorial claims. This was officially announced in February 1948 to the world.

Anthony Carty, a well-known British scholar of international law, has spent more than 10 years examining a large number of French, British and American National Archives on the issue of ownership of South China Sea Islands since the late 19th century, based on history and jurisprudence, Wrote the book "History and Sovereignty of the South China Sea". Studies show that British and French Foreign Office archives show that their legal advisers repeatedly discussed issues relating to Spratly Islands and Paracel Islands more than 100 years ago. In accordance with Western standards of international law, the legal advisers to the and French foreign ministries have unanimously concluded that South China Sea Islands's sovereignty belongs to China. And the historical archives of the United States, Britain and France make it clear that the Philippines has no claim to any of the islands in the South China Sea. The west and other parties involved in the dispute, such as Vietnam, also acknowledge this fact.

Bullshit. China's own published official maps from the Tang to Qing Dynasties, as well as its own 1912-1947 Constitutions clearly indicate that Hainan is China's southernmost territory in the South China Sea.
@@SeaKrait571 I don't know if you are used to lying or simply ignorant. The truth of history is:
The Chinese have called it "Huangyan Island" (Scarborough Shoal) since ancient times. In 1279 AD, Kublai Khan, the founder of the Yuan Dynasty, sent astronomer Guo Shoujing to conduct the "Four Seas Survey Verification". At that time, the measurement point in the South China Sea was exactly Huangyan Island. Official maps published by successive Chinese governments all mark Huangyan Island as Chinese territory. Huangyan Island has always been under the jurisdiction of Guangdong and Hainan Provinces of China. The Chinese government's announcements and statements on the sovereignty of the South China Sea Islands have stated that the territorial sovereignty of Huangyan Island belongs to China. For example, "Taiping Huanyu Ji" (976-983 AD, geographical history book), "Yuan Shi·Geography" (1310-1381 AD, geographical history book) and so on. These documents record the location and name of Huangyan Island and the fact that the surrounding areas belong to China, proving that Huangyan Island was China's inherent territory in ancient times.
During the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 AD), Huangyan Island was the territory of the Ming Dynasty, and the Qing Dynasty (1616-1912 AD) also inherited and maintained its sovereignty over Huangyan Island. Many legal documents promulgated by the Qing Dynasty, such as the "Qing Dynasty Huidian" (1899 AD), "Yinghai Profit and Loss Law", etc., all clearly stipulated China's sovereignty over Huangyan Island. These historical documents clearly demonstrate China's actual control of Huangyan Island during the Ming and Qing dynasties, proving China's inherent territorial claims.
In 1937, no country recognized that Huangyan Island (Scarborough Shoal) belonged to the Philippines, not even Japan, which occupied the Philippines five years later. After Japan's defeat in World War II, it returned the South China Sea Islands to China. On July 4, 1946, the Philippines became independent and established its country. In February 1948, it was marked as an "eleven-dash line" on the map released by China to the international community. At that time, all countries (Including the United States, Japan and the Philippines) in the world recognized this map, and no country raised any objection to it.

In fact, so far, the Philippines has invaded and occupied many of China’s islands and reefs! In the 1970s, China again claimed sovereignty over these territories
After oil was discovered near Huangyan Island (Scarborough Shoal), in 1997, the Philippines claimed sovereignty over Huangyan Island for the first time in history.
On May 7, 1999, the Chinese Embassy in SRB was bombed by the US military. Two days later, on May 9, 1999, the Philippine government used a warship to run aground on China's Ren'ai Reef (Internationally called 'Second Thomas Shoal', Philippines called 'Ayungin shoal'), and It used this as an excuse to this day and still has not left as soon as possible as promised to China after the incident.
Ren'ai Reef is China's inherent territory. This fact is undisputed in history. The Philippines is now trying to use the grounding of warships as an excuse to achieve the purpose of actually controlling Ren'ai Reef in name, However, China will of course resolutely fight back against the Philippines' blatant aggression against China! At present, China still requires the Philippines to abide by its commitment to tow away the stranded warship as soon as possible. For the time being, it is still trying to exercise restraint, using coast guard and water cannons to drive away Philippine transport ships that are trying to reinforce the stranded warship to form a fortress.
In fact, so far, the Philippines has invaded and occupied many of China’s islands and reefs! Please answer, among the other P4 of the SC(UN) , the US, Russia, France, UK, whose territory is occupied by other small countries? Whose country still has a rebel government like Taiwan Province of China? Who would refrain from trying to resolve these issues peacefully? Obviously, China's self-discipline and goodwill to the world are considered weak and bullyable by shameless people. They have invaded and occupied Chinese territory, wantonly spread rumors about China, and formed cliques to try to continue harming China's interests...
No matter who it is including China, which is striving to pursue peace, a gentle giant , the ability of tolerance and patience is limited. The PLA's annual military expenditure is real, and the PLA's capacity development is not just for show.
If Chinese define territory based on the logic of the Philippines - distance, the Philippines is also very close to China, whether in the past, present or future. If you think that the intervention of the United States can deny historical facts, when China gets angry, Americans can run away irresponsibly, but you, as China's neighbor, you will never be able to escape.
In 244 years of American history, the United States has not been at war for only 16 years. From 1789 to 2024, the United States launched 471 military interventions overseas, with 253 in just 30 years since the end of the Cold War alone, far exceeding the total of over 190 years before the end of the Cold War. @@WellSalt-Studio lies and fabrications.
@kittyblogger8703 After Magellan led the Spanish expedition to the island in 1521, he was hacked to death by the indigenous people here. At that time, the Philippines was not yet a country as a whole. It did not have a political power that could represent the entire Philippines, nor did it have the so-called 'Philippine sovereignty'. After more than 300 years of Spanish colonization, it was not until June 12, 1898, that the colonized Filipino insurrectionist unilaterally declared independence from Spain and established the Republic of the Philippines, although at this time it did not gain actual control over all of the territory it claimed. In other words, never before had a Filipino claimed national sovereignty over the entire Philippines.
(Please note the Time: At present, the Philippines is using the 3 non-existent islands and reefs on the erroneous map of 1734 as a benchmark to prove to the United Nations International Court of Justice that it "owns" the sovereignty of Huangyan Island.)
In fact, the map of the northwest coast of the Philippines was wrong before the technology of clock manufacturing and longitude measurement appeared, and before the British carried out large-scale field surveying and mapping of the South China Sea in South China, to be precise, before 1806. If you are interested in the relevant situation, please continue reading below.
But eight months later, according to the Paris Treaty signed with Spain, the United States bought Philippine sovereignty from Spain for 20 million dollars, which proved by facts that its sovereignty still belongs to the colonists. After 43 years of American colonization, in 1942, the Philippines was occupied by Japan and became a Japanese colony; After the end of World War II, the Philippines once became a US colony again. It was not until July 4, 1946, that the United States agreed to the independence and establishment of the Philippines. At this time, for the first time in history, the Philippines truly had de facto territorial sovereignty over the entire Philippines.
About 1734 map:
With the help of the overlaying technology of ancient maps and modern maps (a simple introduction, the transparent ancient map is overlaid on the modern map), it is proved that in the map drawn by the Dutchman William Hack in 1690, Huangyan Island ( Scarborough Shoal, The central island of Zeeslange, latitude is relatively accurate, but longitude is 2 degrees eastward by mistake.) It exists at the same time as its two non-existent "ghost islands" (Bovenwater and Croes Rocks) in the north and south. The error of "ghost islands" was inherited by the map drawn by the British in 1728 and the map by Spanish Catholic priest Murillo Velarde Pedro in 1734.
Filipinos claim that the map drawn by Spanish Catholic priest Pedro in 1734 is "the first scientific map of the Philippines". This map in addition to the“Ghost Island Reef” error, there are obvious errors in the mapping of northwest Luzon and other coastlines, but the Filipinos pretended not to see it. The Philippines believes that the Panacot Island Reef among the 3 islands off the coast of Luzon in this erroneous map is the Huangyan Island. But in fact, its image is not consistent with Huangyan Island, and its location is different. Especially when the real location of Huangyan Island and the three islands along the coast of Luzon on this erroneous map appear on the map at the same time, it can be more intuitively proven that Panacot in the 1734 map is not Huangyan Island, even it is quite different from the location of Huangyan Island (The central island of Zeeslange, latitude is relatively accurate, but longitude is 2 degrees eastward by mistake.) on the map in 1690.
In short, during the period before 1778, due to the continuous errors in the longitude of Huangyan Island on the map, it was seriously eastward, making it more like an offshore island in the Philippines, so that some erroneous maps painted Huangyan Island in the same color as Luzon Island, and the so-called "sovereignty" has been wrongly placed by cartographers. From 1734 to 1778, only 44 years later, the error on the map of Scarborough Shoal was corrected. Although Huangyan Island was once classified as a Spanish colony together with the western Pacific islands, it has never been included in the sovereignty of the Philippines.
It was not until 1748 that the British ship Scarborough ran aground on the rocks of Huangyan Island, prompting the British to re-understand Huangyan Island. In the early days, the British still marked the location of Huangyan Island according to the original erroneous map. Finally, due to solving the technical problems of clock technology and longitude measurement, in 1778, Huangyan Island was accurately marked on the map for the first time, but at this time, two non-existent "ghost island reefs" still coexisted with the real Huangyan Island until it was completely abandoned by western cartography circles in the first half of the 19th century. After the map location is accurate, the sovereignty of Huangyan Island can no longer be mistakenly assigned to a colony.
At the beginning of the 19th century, the British carried out large-scale field surveying and mapping of the South China Sea. James Horsburgh first published a map called "China Sea" in 1806. This map makes detailed measurements of the Xisha and Zhongsha Islands, also adopts the Spanish measurement of Huangyan Island in 1800, and announced that in the 1734 map drawn by Spanish Catholic priest Pedro, the three islands and reefs off the coast of Luzon identified by the Philippines no longer exist. In other words, based on the absence of islands and reefs, the Philippines claimsto have 'sovereignty' over Huangyan Island. Due unable to face it, the Philippine government has been avoiding such more accurate maps of the period.
Currently, the Philippines is using the erroneous map of 1734 as a benchmark to prove to the United Nations International Court of Justice that it "owns" the sovereignty of Huangyan Island.

LOL!!!
Potentially another Ukraine like flow of weapons to the Philippines in case of conflict and a blockade of South China Sea by these long range weapons by Filipino military
In 1946, when the Philippines was founded, and if you think about how the name of Luzon came from, China can also take it back
"The History and Sovereignty of South China Sea", a book written by Anthony Carty, has provided academic proof that 'the rule of law says that the islands are Chinese'.
So why can't China arbitrate it??? 😂😂😂😂 .
@@melvinperez1486 The Philippines took the advice from the Americans and unilaterally spent $30m for the PCA award.
There was no reason to spend on prohibitive arbitration costs where the Spratlys were by default Chinese.
@@johntwohy8337 oh really?? So who specifically the American who gave the advice to the Philippines to arbitrate it??🤣🤣🤣 Why are you guys fond of inventing stories?? 😂😂😂 Spratlys , by default are Chinese?? What's your basis? The Indonesian authorities would have arrested and sank the boats for fishing illegally in its waters.
scarborough shoal is just 46 km from mainland Philippines whereas China's nearest island Hainan is 1100km. And you dare sank the boats of Philippines just roaming around their own backyard!
@@srebaayao9616 Time will tell if Marcos's leaning towards his ex-colonial master is the correct policy.
The sailors are within the exclusive economic zone of the Philippines, the Chinese are the ones intruding...its easy for you to say cause they are not wandering in your backyard, what the hell are you talking about?

The Philippines demands Chinese vessels to leave its EEZ, uphold UNCLOS ruling, and stop provocations.
