Thanks for this. The story is a tragedy, but it paradoxically gives me some hope and light, because it reminds me that at least there really used to be people who sincerely devoted their lives to achieving a just and humane world, not just fundamentally cynical and selfish, careerist, money-grubbing and mendacious right-wing intellectual pigs devoted to defending the capitalist order which (they think) feeds them, which is almost the only kind I know today. The Solidarity Song is, indeed, forgotten to an all-too-great extent. Incredibly enough, a film like this could be made in the mid-1990s, and I doubt it could be made today.
