I think it's cool that a lot of new cards from Standard sets are finding home in Pioneer, it makes spending cards on Standard feel less bad since you'll still be able to play with them somewhere after rotation.
This is why I'm afraid of WotC making a Pioneer Horizons set. Modern used to also see a trickle of cards into it but now it's all MH1 through MH3 with a few LotR (i.e. MH2.5) cards added in
Pillage the bog is really important in the matchups where players have 4 Thoughtseize and a number of copies of Duress as well. You just need a way to dig really deep after both players are empty. At 57:55 I would have left up Fable activation to copy the Titan that you knew you were getting, but that is pretty unnecessary. I will say that the emergence of Boros Burn in the weeks since the event has probably not been good for the deck's position.
Really cool deck, but I feel like this is kinda the direction MtG is going these days, a deck that has a fair, midrange plan with a oops I win combo in it. Or you can see it as a combo deck that can just play a fair game. I see this a lot in legacy now, and I'm not too sure how I feel about it.
This idea has been around for years in older formats. It’s a viable idea, you sacrifice some amount of redundancy/consistency for the chance at either a free win or stealing a win.
Honestly, that’s been a thing throughout most of Magic’s history. Even powerful decks of the past like Birthing Pod and Splinter Twin operated on almost the exact same principle of a combo deck with fair elements. One of the big changes is that combo cards have gone from mediocre to good, but the same principle applies to most cards in MTG
@@finnpeterson4335yeah, this deck isn’t an example of it, but some of the combo decks now have combo pieces which are just good cards, like Nadu. This means the opportunity cost of including the combo is minimal
I've never muttered to myself "The skeleton has menace..." so many times while watching a video.
It's unblockable anyway haha.
skeleton has menace
Skeletons ARE menacing
It's hard to remember with CAN'T BLOCK being the only thing read in the text box.
SUSPECT might've been better.
32:27 “two metapods in the season 1 of pokemon” wow was not ready for that nostalgia hit

Wait, Brian is playing Pioneer?! Awesome!
I play what people send me!

This deck is so sick, glad you're playing it finally!
The similarity of lands the same color isn't just a you issue. Blue black is the worst for this
Unexpected surprise, cool deck and good games
@41:20 can you copy atraxa to try and dig for a fatal push/ pawpatch to kill the token?
That was my thought as well.
That is not a legal play.
Reflection can only target non-legendary creatures. Sadly.
He could've not traded the titan of industry for sheoldred to copy it every turn
first,, hopefully pio is better than before
Attraxa pack, cheat it if you got it
Split volcanic spites and fire proohecies. Helps against the one Dominaria cleric, which I cant imagine isnt played.
Giving up hitting planeswalkers can’t be worth whatever the value of splitting them vs hypothetical cards is.
That deck looks familiar 🤔😂
Is the fade to the decklist new? I feel like before it just hard cut from the “thanks for watching” screen to the deck
Listened the intro song at 1.25x by chance, coming from another video... it's a banger!😂
I do my backend editing/timestamp stuff at 2x and the song fkin rips.
Adhd, I watch the whole video at 2x 😂
@@BoshNRollI tried (still prefer it at 1.1 haha)
@@poultrylord7300 the objectively correct way🙏

39:01 not sure if thats a good deal, making titan copies with reflection the following turns seems pretty powerful.
R1 - normally I root for burn, but any deck with a pathway deserves to lose on account of bad deck construction
Obligatory algorithmic contribution
this is why i think suspect is such a trash mechanic.. it give menace and can't block BUT in paper there no good tracking AND its convoluted. Fun deck
that cope
I used to main jund creativity in modern and well, the burn matchup looks pretty similar 🥲
Will do my best to send the off-format video up up up 🫡
Thanks for the non legacy video, i know shits wild
