I met Seán in St. Michaels, Church , Blackrock, Co. Cork 3yrs ago where we both had a grandaughter receiving Confirmation. I had been listening to him sing sincethe early 1960s but had never met him. My son lives in Blackrock and I had travelled down from Carlow. I recognised him in the Church so I went over and introduced myself. I have to say he was a gentleman and a pleasure to meet. A great singer and his "An Poc ar Bhuile" in 1962 was the first Irish Language song to make an Impact on the Irish music scene.,
My poor old Da's favorite song he would sing it every time he had a few jars and it always brings a year to my eyes!
Tear I ment to say!!!
Love to see this so highly regarded.
One of Corks pure legends ,and a pure gent❤
Good to see a Cork Man Singing a Kerry song.
Its amazing that someone who represents the very best of the Irish character doesn't get a single comment?
