They grow smaller and live longer, it's like that through the entire gulf, which is why once they're cleaned out they don't come back. People wouldn't rape and pillage if they lowered the sizing in the hauraki gulf/coromandel because the takings wouldn't be out of spite against the government. However majority have already been taken
