The green, red, and yellow bits in the fruit cake are candied fruits. The red and green are glaced cherries and the yellow is maybe candied orange peel, not sure.

@@MissHippo Think the cafe (shop) is still there but that small corner where it sells the bread is no longer there. There was some renovation awhile ago and that corner is gone. (Thiam Yian is still there. )
I rarely eat traditional bread and pastries , even during my childhood . My mother didn’t buy and there weren’t any shops selling near my childhood home . I googled the locations given in the description and was surprised . These two shops are actually a 5 mins walk away from my home 😹 I must go down tomorrow and buy some to try .

I also love traditional bread. Please go and try 50years bread as their bread also very soft. My favourite is Pandan Kaya and peanut butter.
Bought bread and sometimes the cake quite often at Thiam Yian.
Can also order the old school butter cream birthday cake at Thiam Yian.

Shui 糕 I think is similar like rice 糕 the pink colour paper wrap with it that one. Make of rice flour and sugar bah.
Actually baker talent bread shop their bread also soft,fresh and nice but quite expensive of small bread...
