Just had the privilege of being the 848th person to thumb up this video. I bought my 848 brand new back in August of 2008, and still love it 12+ years later.
@@mmontero15 For me, none. I do my own services, so I adjust the valves, change the cam belts, and service the front forks all on my own. The only part that needed to be replaced was the voltage regulator, and that was a recall in the first year of ownership.

New sub. I came here because Im thinking of trading in my 06 zx6r 636 towards a 2012 848 evo with 4500 miles asking $8700. Im also about to purchase a house with wifey otherwise I wouldve did it in heart beat. I sent the dealer my info and if they tive me enough trade value, I'll consider it for sure.
ducatikid848 any issues you've had with her yet? Ironic Snewj came out with a vid today his bike broke down. He bought it brand new and has less than 5k miles.
ducatikid848 oops I read the description wrong and thought you were Connor. your Spencer right? you posted a few months back in MassTuning when you got the bike right? I was just researching Ducati and instantly recognized the Bike.
ThePhantomEvoX I’ve had zero issues with mine. But I’d have the timing belt checked since it’s so old. I got mine last year with 1600 miles on it and had the belt checked to ensure it was safe until the 7500 mile service. But other than that, mines been a dream!
So I'm not trying to be rude so don't take it that way.. but you're going to have another thing coming. The bikes themselves aren't any worse maintenance wise than any other bike for the most part.. however when you do need to fix something, you can expect 2-4x what you'd pay for the same thing for a Japanese bike. The service costs are also fairly bad especially for the 15000 mile service and valve adjustment if it's needed. With that being said.. some things to think about would be your front heavy comment.. it's a different riding posture than Japanese bikes, so it feels different, it's really not any more front heavy. I wouldn't talk about the prices if maintenance until you have to do some. But I will agree with you that they are worth it. They are phenomenal bikes, I wouldn't go back ever. I've ridden Ducati superbikes for years, so maybe just trust me a bit? But like I said I'm just trying to inform you, not trying st all to be disrespectful. Anyways take care and keep the rubber side down!
JUSTIN MATHEWS considering what the older Ducati's cost for maintenance, it's not bad. I didn't mention anything about fixing broken parts; just maintenance. Also the maintenance intervals are more spread out on these than the older Ducati's. I am not doubting your knowledge, but I have done a bit of research on the 848 before buying one. I understand the riding position is different. I am trying to give the viewer an idea of what it's like, since most people aren't going to buy this as their first bike, they may get a smaller Japanese bike instead. I do appreciate the input regardless but I feel the points I made in the video are not false.
To see better through the mirrors, move your elbows OUT and look between your arm and body. 😉 Also, I put little convex round stick-on mirrors on the skinny part of the mirrors which helped. It’s kinda cheesy to have to do that, but I’d rather cheesy than dead because I didn’t see someone coming up behind me. But yeah, the stock ones are pretty terrible.
Spencer King hahah I know right I thought that was pretty cool your name is so... so beautiful wish my first name was as cool ahaha, Oklahoma roads suck chicken but so I’m used to it.
Don’t buy this bike if you live in a city. Really hot in stop and go traffic, can’t do U turns (horn button hits the tank yikes!), mirrors just reflect my arms and shoulders, really bad fueling at low rpms (very choppy and rough), not good at slow sharp corners. But once you go above 130kmh its nice. Fast sweeping corners feels very planted & it looks very sexy.
Ace H. Like it said in the video, only had the bike for a couple of weeks. Owned her for over two years now and I have made lots of upgrades, to include a better seat!
BeastMode209 I’m not sure to be honest. That’s how the bike came when I bought it. I took them off though. I hate them. Have a handlebar end mirror now and it’s awesome.
DrewX Cortez S Perez to be completely honest I have no idea. Been riding her for almost 2 years since I made this video and I’m a lot more comfortable with the clutch now. But honestly, I never look down, I just feel it out. Why?
Spencer King I started on a cbr 500 only 10000 rpm this being 1300 it seems like I have to rev it up to take off smooth but it takes off really fast. it doesn’t like to creep in 1st is it ok to finesse the clutch a lot?
DrewX Cortez S Perez I try not to feather the clutch on any of my vehicles. Seems to be a common practice for people who don’t understand how much more wear that has on a clutch. I never have to feather mine. Eventually you will get more comfortable with the bike and be able to take off better without having to work the clutch so much. Just takes practice. And you can’t compare a CBR500 to a Ducati 848. Very difference machines. I’d say just keep practicing. How long have you had the bike?
DrewX Cortez S Perez I will say this, first gear is a known b**ch on these things. So don’t be too worried about not being perfect on it. Luckily it’s a wet clutch, so it’s nice and forgiving
starscreamp250 I had a 1998 cbr 600 before this bike. I can't say I remember how it was 100% but I know for a fact the ducati is a more forward position. Your groin is always sliding into the tank though because the seat slants down into the tank and doesn't slant back up. I now have grips on the sides on the tank that I can clamp my legs on while I brake which helps a lot. Hopefully this helps. If you have any other questions you can DM me on Instagram @ducatikid848
ZX10R Ant hey! I bought this bike for my 24th birthday. However, I don’t think age should prevent you from getting a bike. I’m assuming you’re an experienced rider?
Spencer King yes I done several track days & ride the horses out my zx10r but I was looking for something smaller for back roads. A 600 is fun but I hated them in the free way here. I was also looking for a Ducati not for the brand but bcus I always wondered how the L twin felt.
Spencer King how expensive are these to maintain & what’s the cost of getting the desmo services? I found one with 5900 miles 848 Corse edition 2012 But with a rebuilt title but looked really clean but I’m nervous on buying it.
ZX10R Ant I just did my 7500 mile service and it cost me $1200. That was WITHOUT adjusting the valves (since they were in spec). They can be expensive but you get out of it what you put into it!
I'll say this: if you are mechanically inclined in any sense of the word, and have the patience to learn a new valvetrain system, these are really some of the easiest bikes to maintain. ... I really need to start posting so I can back up my claims... 2014 RC8R 2009 ZX6-R 2012 Monster 1100EVO 2005 800 Supersport
Nick Bouwkamp it can depend on the state, company, coverage, and rider. For basic coverage for a year mine was only a few hundred. For full coverage it was about 1700 (if my memory serves me right). Hope this helps.
So beautiful... enjoy it! What is it with these asymmetric headlights? Is that another stupid law or something? Dual lights should = dual all the time, not just on high beams. I modified my last bike, an FZ-1 to stay dual.
I know this is a bit late, but it’s generally to do with safety. Fortnine did a good video on it. Essentially at night, a motorcycle with 2 headlights close up looks like a car far away.
Obviously, you are not a Ducati rider, that is what make Ducati soooo unique, that hydraulic dry clutch, my first Ducati, was a 848,916; today I own a 1198S, so much to love a about this iconic motorcycles.❤❤❤❤❤
Obviouslyyyyyyyy 🙄, I just got the bike when I made this video. I currently ride a diavel 1260s. Not sure what qualifies someone as a “Ducati rider” but I’ve been riding ducs since 2017. I’m no professional, but I certainly love riding them and everything about them. Have a good one 👍
Andrew Christiansen thank you for the input. I know this one was a little more on the dry side but had to introduce the bike. Next weeks should be better.
Timing belt needs to be changed every 7,500 miles??????? Holy hell. Could you imagine if cars were built this crappy? That one sentence alone is enough to keep me from ever owning a Ducati. I've owned other Japanese sport bikes for years and only had to do minor maintenance things to keep them going. Definitely no timing belts. 🤣
THE REAL FAMILY CHANNEL sounds like an awesome deal to me. Make sure you have the belts checked. They are only good for 7500 miles or 2 years. Hate to have one snap!!
Forza Vale I found the mirrors just needed tightening. The mic could not pick up the beautiful sound of the vtwin. I can say the bike is far from cheap when it comes to the performance. Sounds and looks amazing and a very firm ride which gives great confidence to the rider. I can see how the video skews that idea though.
sry, but you guys from America don't know what REALLY is an expensive bike....here on Brazil we would need to pay R$ 60.000 on a bike like that o/ Anyway, nice video o/
Your mirrors, Look like they need tightening up a bit, Mine are not that much better tho, I don't have the extensions on mine so even tucking in my arms you still can't see much, I literally stick my elbow out like a tea cup handle and look in between 😄 Also helps to pull the clutch and lift off the throttle so they aren't vibrating. Ofc there's some negatives about this bike, But it's so fun to ride, they out weight the negatives. anyone saying they are high maintenance are over exaggerating. Maybe Ducati just got a bad rep from the old bikes but the modern ones are pretty solid. Overall build quality is so much better than Japanese bikes. Your not just paying for the brand. It's literally twice as high quality, Your getting what you pay for.
Tommyx I couldn't agree more! I will be address the mirror issue soon with just a single mirror on the handlebar and the flush mount blinkers. But you're right about the positives outweighing the negatives. These bikes are amazing!
Yeah they are, Can't see myself going back to a Japanese bike after this. But not a fan of the 959, The 848 just looks way better IMO. Haven't got the evo model so really could do with getting a steering damper as I've had a few sketchy moments cus of not having one. Try out my technique, Take off the mirror extenders n just look between your arm lmao
Slip on is the next modification for the bike. I am looking at Competition Werkes exhaust though! I want to do something different since everyone does Termi.
It’s just a lot of power for a first bike. Someone younger or less responsible who’s never experienced something fast before could seriously hurt themselves on a bike like this. That being said, there are people that go out and buy a 1000cc bike as a first bike and are totally fine. But to me, a first bike is like a first car. There’s a good chances you’re going to drop it or crash with it. It happens. So a new rider would be better off getting something cheaper and less powerful. If you’ve never road in your entire life, I’d start with a 250-400cc. But that’s just me. I can’t tell you what to do.

Sergio barrios nah. I’m in central mass near the NH border.
@@kingspencer7 ahhh shit nice brother still got the bike??
Sergio barrios of course!
Love your Bike Connor, when's the next video coming? Keep the updates on MassTuning too.
Michael Russell how did you hear about my channel? Connor is my brother. This is my channel 😂
ducatikid848 oops I read the description wrong and thought you were Connor. your Spencer right? you posted a few months back in MassTuning when you got the bike right? I was just researching Ducati and instantly recognized the Bike.
Gorgeous bike 🏍👌
charlie ryan thank you!!
I'm thinking of getting one of these used with 2k miles.
ThePhantomEvoX what’s stopping you?
Spencer King dealership isn't open till the morning lol.
Ohhhh okay. Well good luck man! Let me know if you have any questions... I have learned a lot about these bikes since the creation of this video.
Spencer King any reliability issues?
ThePhantomEvoX I’ve had zero issues with mine. But I’d have the timing belt checked since it’s so old. I got mine last year with 1600 miles on it and had the belt checked to ensure it was safe until the 7500 mile service. But other than that, mines been a dream!
What base is there all the way up there ? Must be coast guard. I’m over on Langley
King Tahj there are a few bases in the New England area. Rather not disclose where I am though. I’m sure you understand.
I do appreciate the input regardless but I feel the points I made in the video are not false.
police haven't bugged out about having the plate tucked away like that?
Luke Jerace nope. But I also don’t ride like a maniac.
Does anyone know where the DLC diagnostic plug is on this bike? I thought it was under the seat. But see online it is by the battery?
Yup it does get a lot of looks.
rzorNvme indeed! Even more so after all the mods I’ve done to her. No chicks though haha
To see better through the mirrors, move your elbows OUT and look between your arm and body. 😉
Also, I put little convex round stick-on mirrors on the skinny part of the mirrors which helped. It’s kinda cheesy to have to do that, but I’d rather cheesy than dead because I didn’t see someone coming up behind me.
But yeah, the stock ones are pretty terrible.
AJ King that’s what I use to do, but I removed them and installed a bar end mirror instead. MUCH better!
Finally a review where someone else has shitty roads now I will know how it handles
Spencer Goodnight every day up here! Nice name by the way 😎
Spencer King hahah I know right I thought that was pretty cool your name is so... so beautiful wish my first name was as cool ahaha, Oklahoma roads suck chicken but so I’m used to it.
Are you sure is a wet clutch?
Yes.
Thanks for your service!
Greetings from Portland Oregon. Ride safe.
Dope bike!!
Why dont u just upgrade the seat and mirrors? I'm sure by today's day and age they may have a cooling seat of some kind, right?
Ace H. Like it said in the video, only had the bike for a couple of weeks. Owned her for over two years now and I have made lots of upgrades, to include a better seat!
Are those mirror extenders? Where and how much?
BeastMode209 I’m not sure to be honest. That’s how the bike came when I bought it. I took them off though. I hate them. Have a handlebar end mirror now and it’s awesome.
Spencer King: They seem slightly longer than my 07 1098.
BeastMode209 it’s possible! Again, I’m really not sure.
Funny how I came across this video and know exactly where your riding lmaooo pretty sure you were at that meet the other week at the fruitlands
Unlikely. I’m back in VA as of 2 months ago, and I barely road in mass when I lived up there. But you are correct that’s the area I was in.
At what rpm do you release the clutch to take off in first?
DrewX Cortez S Perez to be completely honest I have no idea. Been riding her for almost 2 years since I made this video and I’m a lot more comfortable with the clutch now. But honestly, I never look down, I just feel it out. Why?
Spencer King I started on a cbr 500 only 10000 rpm this being 1300 it seems like I have to rev it up to take off smooth but it takes off really fast. it doesn’t like to creep in 1st is it ok to finesse the clutch a lot?
13000*
I want this bike 🔥
You driving through Shirley?! I live one town over!
AimlessMoto yep! I’m from the area 😎😬
I love that bike!
I'm just wondering how tall are you, are you able to have both your feet flat
Carlos Gonzalez I'm 5'11" and I can put both feet down when I stop
ducatikid848 both feet flat or on the tips
I am able to get the balls of my feet down solid when I am stopped. I am not able to get both feet flat.
Any updates?
RPrevolution25 yep. I made a part two.

How does the riding position compare to your old CBR 600? I'm looking at this bike coming from a CBR600rr.
starscreamp250 I had a 1998 cbr 600 before this bike.
Spencer King same coming from an F4
How old are you? I’m thinking of getting one next month for my 21st BDay
2014 RC8R
2009 ZX6-R
2012 Monster 1100EVO
2005 800 Supersport
Where you in MA? Im in MMethuen.. I ddrive a 2008 848
I'm in the Worcester area!
ducatikid848 ok, we ride out there once in a while. one of our buddies ( trucutru) is out there. he fixes motorcycles, mainly Hayabusas
Oh ok cool! Will have to hit me up on Instagram next time you are out here and we can meet up!
IG: ducatikid848
I dont have instagram :(
0:02 : me 2 seconds after getting an 848 evo
i never get insurance prices from these kinds of videos
Nick Bouwkamp it can depend on the state, company, coverage, and rider. For basic coverage for a year mine was only a few hundred. For full coverage it was about 1700 (if my memory serves me right). Hope this helps.
We have the same bike! Good taste bro, I just have more mods;)
blueprince2008 true. Only had the bike for a couple weeks when I recorded this. She has lots of goodies now!
Spencer King just looked at your channel. Nice mods
Where are you videos?
:P
July 2020, MA
J S what?
617 in the house
So beautiful... enjoy it!
What is it with these asymmetric headlights? Is that another stupid law or something?
Dual lights should = dual all the time, not just on high beams.
I modified my last bike, an FZ-1 to stay dual.
KutWrite mine have been modified since I did this video. I run both lights all the time now.
I know this is a bit late, but it’s generally to do with safety. Fortnine did a good video on it. Essentially at night, a motorcycle with 2 headlights close up looks like a car far away.
Nice Video
Thank you!
suh dude. this is a great vid. I came from instagram
I_Iz_Special thanks for checking it out! Glad you liked it!
How much did you get it for?
Jonathan Orendain how much did I get for what?
ducatikid848 like how much did you buy the bike for
Jonathan Orendain ohhhh... it was enough haha. Rather not say
ducatikid848 oh cause tomorrow I'm getting a 2013 with 3000 miles for 8,500 and wanted to know if that was a reasonable price
Jonathan Orendain it sounds fair to me.
Can't find you anywhere on Instagram
I changed my name! It was too complicated. My new Instagram is @ducatikid848
Hope this helps!
Does it have abs?
phgoil it does not. Only the 848 evo corse came with ABS for this model.
Errol Watson is right. It has traction control. My mistake. Only the corse has DTC (ducati traction control)
Yep. A full six pack. LOL
The best looking Ducati ever. Not Panigale. never Panigale
Dude pretty cool. A little boring, but I'm not gonna wine. I also came from Instagram
Andrew Christiansen thank you for the input. I know this one was a little more on the dry side but had to introduce the bike. Next weeks should be better.
Ok I get were your coming from.
I like the bike
Andrew Christiansen thank you! I'll be sure to make this weeks episode better just for you haha
Sweet, thanks!
So basically ur showing us the road and your talking talking and talking
Timing belt needs to be changed every 7,500 miles??????? Holy hell. Could you imagine if cars were built this crappy? That one sentence alone is enough to keep me from ever owning a Ducati. I've owned other Japanese sport bikes for years and only had to do minor maintenance things to keep them going. Definitely no timing belts. 🤣
Does your car rev out to 13 grand dumb fuck 😭😭😭
I found a 2012 Ducati 848 EVO with 121 original miles. It is brand new! Only $9,200 Or best offer.
THE REAL FAMILY CHANNEL sounds like an awesome deal to me. Make sure you have the belts checked. They are only good for 7500 miles or 2 years. Hate to have one snap!!
Just bought a 848 evo which is awesome. It’s too much and it has to be sold.
2012 with 900 original miles
Why are you getting rid of it??
Way more beautiful th a n the panigale.
Ooohh... cool down mr. Artiste
Agree but for me it has to be red
Oh and they only get 11MPG...
THE REAL FAMILY CHANNEL really? I’m averaging around 40’s, and that’s aggressive riding.
i buy my evo yestarday ...and yeaaa absoluteli diferent felling ...
Honestly, comparing to my yamaha, I feel like I'm watching a hyosung 250 review
Forza Vale hahaha what? How do you figure that?
The bike sound, the flimsy mirrors, no offence but the bike looks kinda cheap...at least in this video
I know, the bike in person doesn't look cheap at all. Wish you good and safe ride mate
You didnt see ducati in your life dude. And you dont know what ducati means in moto world.
Why is it so slow
Good luck
sry, but you guys from America don't know what REALLY is an expensive bike....here on Brazil we would need to pay R$ 60.000 on a bike like that o/ Anyway, nice video o/
this was my first bike .lol
Cristian Estrada how did you find it as a first bike?
I think he found another hobby such as vaping or raising a puppy.

I'm one of the early subscribers.
Beautiful Evo , nice review ,safe raiding
"Good job"
Even through the cheap microphone that thing sounds tits! Mirrors schmirrors who cares? It's a sport bike
Get some termi slip-ons & your fried arse cheeks & legs will feel a lot less heat plus the sound is so much more better.
Everything in time.
Slip on is the next modification for the bike. I am looking at Competition Werkes exhaust though! I want to do something different since everyone does Termi.
Beautiful bike..dont like the powerplant
YEP yep @ yep....END OF LINE.
Number one take the mirrors off
Dan Klesh already done!
wassssupppppppp
Soo basically looks good everything else sucks got it
Its bleach. Yo. 😂.
PrankTube oh hey man!! Thanks for watching the video!
your roads r aweful..
mike stephenson yep! Welcome to Massachusetts! That’s why I don’t live there anymore.
I’m a new rider. Why is it a bad first bike? What’s a good alternative? Thanks
The mirrors are fine. Look under your armpit.
