  • With older (vintage) equipment there are often switches and/or potentiometers that does not has a proper contact.
Some demonstration the way I solved it (without going to the shop for buying some spray).
Digital modes like FT8 and FT4 may now be used without frequency stability problems.

Thanks for info, but behind the slider slot there is not the potentiometer directly but a 90° mechanism attached to its pin. So when you spray the alcohol into the slot you spray it into the mechanism and not into the potentiometer. However, some of it got in!! 73s de ik0vwh, Rino

      Thanks for the additional information.
Indeed what I tried to explain, that the potentiometer is not directly behind the slot, as can be seen through the slot. Indeed some got in (and most of it came out of the bottom plate...)

@@chrix2381 Yes indeed, but it is placed above the slot with the body upside down and the lever down, so the alcohol would have to rise to get inside. You should turn the FT-7 upside down. I disassembled the panel and lubricated the slide with very little Vaseline grease. BUT IF IT WORKS LEAVE IT AS IT IS!!! 👍👍73 and good DX, Rino👋

Onder de kleine schakelaar staat 'FIX'. Je weet bij aankoop dus al dat je die moet fixen.
