- Hey everyone Rho here! Today we're discussing the Death of Omegon! Primarch of the Alpha Legion. As we're asking if he should meet his end during the scouring against his brother Guilliman as expected....
No real need for a spoiler warning today but just keep in mind we will be discussing events from across the Warhammer 40,000 universe. So you have been warned!

Guilliman killing off Omegon would be a mistake, i'd like Omegon to convince Guilliman that he is playing a long game to undermine chaos from within and escape. If Guilliman needs a win in a Primarch VS battle, it would be better that Guilliman finally has a rematch with Laergrim and has a chance to banish his personal daemon.

This is a problem. Omegon and Alpharius had pretty differing personalities. Alpharius was arrogant and had a big ego problem, while Omegon was far more composed and did not let his primarch ego to get in the way of his missions. Alpharius was only imitating the experience of Omegon, who was found first. Alpharius was also arrogant/stupid enough to try and convince Dorn of all people to follow the plan, and he died for it. Omegon does not make mistakes like that.
@@thisguynamedmatt12 Omagon is actually Alpharius, an vice versa. Omagon sswapped names with Alpharius, to be the face of the legion.
Alpharius is 1 of the Emporers contingency plans, I believe he is doing what the Emporer asked of him.

I'd hate for Omegon to die "for realsies". It would rob the setting of a ton of intrigue.
I'm glad everyone is in agreement that the omegon/alpharius should die is a dumb sentiment and even dumber to think he/they should be killed by guilliman, mystery is one of the best aspects of any story when u use it well, the alpha legion primarchs specialise in mystery, so killing them off would be the dumbest thing

What is the truth? Malleable.
Did the Emperor plan for Alpharius and Omegon to be two people? No.
Was he aware that they were two people? Yes. (Citation, that book where the Emperor and Malcador are playing Regicide)
Was Omegon loyal to the Imperium or Alpharius? Both. Omegon was the one who yelled that the Alpha Legion was loyal. (Citation, book Legion) but they both are of the mindset that humanity has to survive, regardless of how. They had contingencies for everything.
Alpharius dead? No. His body is. His mind was placed in the body of a captain. The captain died piloting Alpharius's body. The captain's body will slowly turn into Alpharius's. Space magic + mantling. (Citation, book Praetorian of Dorn)
Omegon dead? No. Guilliman doesn't even believe it. Primarchs KNOW when they win. It's like Highlander.
Guilliman should get a win? Yes. It should be Fulgrim. Would be a perfect rematch.
If anything, i want Omegon to be alive. I want him to get quietly revealed to be the second in command of the Adeptus Custodes. I want him to quietly be standing guard by the Throne, until some cinematic reveal. I want him to flat out tell Roboute that not only is he loyal, but that he's been the one holding the line.
"Since when?" "Since you thought you killed me." "That was ten thousand years ago." "Sure was."
It would be, and I guess it would be fine too since Omegon is a spy, not a grand administrator general like guilliman is

There would be a certain poetry to it being the brother of the primarch that Dorn supposedly killed being the one standing as Praetorian for 10,000 years in Dorn’s place
@@adamredbeard5232 the important takeaways are, the Alpha Legion has basically no psykers of their own. They are like the Emperor's Children in that way; psykers come from mutations and both of those legions were pretty pure. The other is the Alpharius not being inside his body at the time of its demise thing. It's not written the best, but I'm sure it was hard to phrase it.
Yes... I would like a twist in the lore where ultimately the Alpha Legion were serving humanity in "their" way and to have Omegon revealed as defending the Throne World would be epic. And... yes...Guilliman needs a Primarch win and yes, he should defeat Fulgrim. Not to the death but a right good ass kicking. After all, GW needs Primarchs to sell models... lol
Gonna be honest, any degree of finality just isn't thematic with the Alpha Legion. I know the "canon" is that Dorn killed Alpharius, as did Guilliman, but for either of them to be right just undermines the entire concept of the Liar Legion. Plus you can't sell dead Primarchs.
40K uses tropes an ungodly amount and unashamedly at that, so it makes perfect sense to me at least that if one primarch was to fake their death it would be Alpharius/Omegon and it make perfect sense. Not only that, but there is two of them, I mean come on how obvious can it be?
While I think Gulliman deserves a win, he's gotta go full hulk rage on the traitors, the same could be said for the Alpha Legion. They kind of become the beat stick for the rest of the Heresy, whenever a book needs the heros to kill an enemy it's usually them. Omegon/Alpharius never really get their big HH moment either. Legion is their most important book and its set before the heresy. I also don't want Omegon/Alpharius to just become team rocket where you think he's defeated and he just pops up again next book. I don't think Omegon needs to live for the Alpha Legion to be cool, but if he dies it needs to be with some revelation that changes the Alpha Legion forever (the favourite fan theories are a third brother [three heads of the hydra], they were loyal all along or that Alpharius was loyal and Omegan wasn't or visa versa) or that there is some massive underlying long game that the Alpha Legion have setup for 40k era. Basically I don't want him to go out like a bitch or for him to just become the moustache twirling villain the kids show brings back each episode to defeat.
Loyal alpha legion would be cool.
We kinda got hints of that already, but tbh I prefer them being a grey area, where they have their own warped ideas of "loyal"... Eg. Loyal to humanity but not the emperor. I don't really want them to be "oh we are loyalist now l, the last 10k years was a ruse"

Guilliman should lose, because it was a trap and Alpha Legion should be flashed out with Omegon turning out to be loyal. Guilliman doesn’t have to win duels to be great.
A revelation that guilliman learned that omegaon was loyalist and made the ultimate decision to allow him to fake his death so he can work in his name would be pretty on point for Mr. Gman
The fun thing about the alpha bros is that their primarch power is that they can give one of their marines their blood and they become body doubles . And with the tail end of the heresy techincally the Alpha legion was back on then loyalist side . I think it would be a cool plotline if there was a Alpha legion civil war of those on the renegade/chaos side and loyalist alpha legion. So you could have the story of Gulliman fighting omegon but its a body double or something.Theres also a really good chance Alphie isnt dead since there wasnt the whole lightshow when he "died" like Ferrus so yeahhh Alphies at least alive somewhere
Omegon is killed, but in a twist, it is revealed that there is a 3rd head of the Hydra, they were not twins, but triplets…

Wouldn't it be a better story/plot twist if it turns out that Omegon survived, and in the 40K timeline he returns as another loyalist Primarch to fight alongside Guilliman and the Lion? It could even be retconned that his death was planned by Omegon and Guilliman as a ruse when they met on Eskrador.
I floated a rumour that the Guilliman that came back, is just Omegon wearing a wig. Everyone liked it, but deemed it "too silly"

There could always be more than 2 Alpha Legion primarchs, there are three heads on their hydra insignia.

I mean they can do that if they want but it would heavily affect prior books considering they always talked about their connection and neither mentioned anyone else. The third head was usually in reference to the legion itself
It's interesting how everyone estimates Reboot Girlyman as the lesser fighter of all loyalist primachs - and so do I, perhaps rightfully so - but then again, most of us probably didn't expect Dorn to be such a beast until he had his moment.
But... TBH, I think RG is way overdue for a win. Got beat by Fulgrim, got beat by Morty (twice), got beat (?) by Magnus (technically a draw, but he had backup). Fought to a draw (?) against Lorgar... it's a bit too much, IMO. Not to mention that he was outplayed by Fulgrim, not merely beat in a fight. As much as the blueberries are the poster boys of 40k, their primarch sure gets his ass thrashed a lot more than he probably deserves...

Realistically Alpharius/Omegon are the only primarchs Roboute can beat without Daddy's help
I don't think Guillman necessarily needs to defeat a primarch in 1v1 combat to validate him as a character. Also I think it would be better for the 40k timeline in terms of potentially expanding the story if Omegon survives.
People have to stop acting like Guilliman cant fight. He was fighting against poison but before that bested in a sword battle with mortarion. He fought well against Magnus and fought well fighting 2 primarchs. Again he is not a duelist but lets not pretend he is a pushover.
Anyone that can go up against Lorgar and Mortarion are badass.
I think a regular fight and defeat would be too basic. Really dial up the intrigue. Have Omegon actually appeal to Guilliman to let him go. Maybe he's fighting through the alpha legion, he kills a few 'alphariuses', but eventually, somewhere alone in some room, one of the alpha legionaries actually surrenders and reveals himself as Omegon. Have Omegon appeal to Guilliman like his twin did to Dorn, and this time, have it work. Maybe he gives Guilliman all the information he needs to complete the Scouring, to throw the traitor legions back into the eye of terror completely. Maybe we don't get to see how Omegon convinces him. Maybe we just seem him surrender to Guilliman, ask just for Guilliman to hear him out, and then... maybe the story just cuts to Guilliman being found by the ultramarines again, them asking what happened, and Guilliman saying Alpharius is dead. Something like that.
I think Alpharius drank the cabal kool-aid and Omegon didn't; they were both loyal but in different facets. So Alpharius's supposed traitorous death left Omegon holding a bag with a hole in it. We've already seen the Alpha Legion had programmed their people with various codes for various contingencies, who is to say Omegon could override that programming and consolidate the legion? It'd make sense for Guilliman to be pursuing the Alpha Legion thinking they're all traitors and discover this division upon catching up with Omegon and his contingent. Should Omegon die or not? It seems wasteful just to give Guilliman a notch on his belt. We know Fulgrim is making a comeback soon, let Guilliman get his revenge then and give Guilliman serious combat cred so people stop writing him off.
Omegon definitely shouldn’t die to Guilliman.
I definitely think the Imperium should think Alpharius died there, and Guilliman should think he killed him (but keeps thinking about some weird inconsistencies/details of the fight and maybe doubt his success himself)
It’s just not fair if Omegon definitely dies, you are telling me that even with 2 espionage and spy primarchs neither of them can fake their death? It’s a waste if he dies, like what has he done at all otherwise? I love the idea that Omegon is probably out there but the only person who might have any idea (Guilliman) is either not totally sure himself or in denial.
It has to look like Omegon dies though, someone in fancy armor and a distinct spear claims to be Alpharius and fights Guilliman.
Guilliman is sure he has found his brother, this person is fighting better than a marine should anyway. But… even if “Alpharius” is fighting better than a normal marine, their fight is strangely easy and quick compared to what Guilliman expected. Then again maybe he’s just better, Guilliman has never fought Alpharius before and has never heard of any of the others sparing with him either.
But then again why aren’t the Alpha Legion breaking, he killed their Primarch right out in the open where everyone could see. They aren’t even trying to retrieve the body… why? That was definitely more than a marine it had to be his brother.
Wait now the Ultramarines are being pushed back! It’s almost like a trap was sprung, but Guilliman has seen Alpharius’ traps sprung before and this isn’t the same instantaneous dismantling, if Alpharius had truly sprung a trap it would all already be over. Maybe Alpharius dying disrupted a planned traps coordination? Possibly but the Alpha Legionaries are still perfectly disciplined, no breaking, no panicked urgency of a trap sprung prematurely, and no rage/grief fueled assault to avenge Alpharius. It’s just as if the Alpha Legion were just winning now.
Ultramarines are forced to retreat, taking heavy casualties from repeated Alpha Legion ambushes and chasers. Escape back to orbit and bombard the planet.
Guilliman is sure he killed Alpharius, his opponent was more skilled than a marine… but… no he killed his brother, the Alpha Legion was always highly disciplined and they were just able to remain calm after their father died. Everything else was just an unlucky shift in the tide of battle. He won the fight but lost the battle, that happens.
We can see that Omegon definitely didn’t die, or almost certainly, and Guilliman is just coping. Or maybe he really did die, we’ll never know, if you ask any Alpha Legionary you’ll get a different answer every time.
Killing Omegon closes future options and keeping him alive, or at least his fate ambiguous, leaves them open. So it should be ambiguous probably. Just because.
While i agree Rowboat needs a primarch w I think the Alpha Legion need more content period and keeping the emperors shadowed sword (or w/e they called him in his book) in play with the loyalists would be peak for me

There is a possibility Kurze may return. His soul is believed to be trapped in the soul he he wore when he died. So his soul wasn't pulled into the warp.
Manus still has his soul. He spoke to sanguinis about the vengeful spirit. And it wasn't a warp trick or a hallucination.
While it was a ghost...it was in fact ferrus manus himself.

I like the idea of Omegon wanting to be loyalist specifically in the way Malcador trained his "sword in the dark" brother but not having all the secrets Alpharius was steeped in. Before Al's death Omegon is cocky and can't lose because Al and his ghosts are always secretly tipping the balance from the shadows, after his death he is scrambled, scared, and importantly trying to live up to the stuff Al believed in but Omegon doesn't really get. He might be a twin but that doesn't mean he can just fill the shoes of his brother, and he is the least equipped one to play the part of both, and probably somewhat mentally crippled from losing "the one of us with the old man's actual guidance". I home Omegon is alive and trying to be a loyalist even if at heart he is an "ends justify any means" Pirate.

Omegon could be defeated by Guilliman and then narrowly escape.
I just started reading Legion, so this video is very topical for me..
I think it would make sense for Guilliman to think that he killed Alpharius/Omegon. But this, of course, is a lie. Letting both loyalists and traitors alike think that the second twin is dead would allow him to be active behind the scenes throughout the setting, perhaps before a controversial return in modern 40k, with many legionnaires siding with the returned primarch, and many rejecting his call.
The most interesting thing that could happen would likely be Omegon and Alpharius reuniting in the warp as a single entity. There is likely a compelling story to tell of the two merging to become one united soul again and likely unlocking the true potential he had. It'd be interesting to see how the Emperor and the powers of chaos fight to snatch him up too. Come to think of it, it would be pretty interesting seeing the hydra motif also rear its head if we found out that Omegon and/or Alpharius are perpetuals.
Anyone else waiting for Guilliman to shave his head and reveal he's the third head of the Hydra all along? :D
I agree, Guilliman 5:10 should have the win here and another in modern 40 K at some point. By this time, there are few who have the same amount of experience fighting other Primarchs
From my reading of the lore, Alpharius was all in with the Cabal, while Omegon covertly opposed him, staying loyal to the Emperor's vision. I hope he survived to become galactic kingpin of crime syndicates.
I think it should play out as Guilliman beating Omegon until the emp intervenes to save Omegons life. maybe a first instance of the emperor intervening from the golden throne. Adds mystery as to what the emp has planned for Omegon who could help his father with the long game.
It’d be better for Russ. The battle after Prospero while his numbers were sore would be a good wereguild fit for the High King of Fenris.

Considering Alpharius Omegon switched so often and were basically interchangeable, I would say Dorn killed who he meant to kill and wasn't tricked. But that would be a plot twist, although it would sort of undermine their whole sstory.
@@angelcorrea985 I don't get why people keep thinking they switched permanently. The novel doesn't give thst impression at all. Makes more sense they would switch as the mission required. Plus Alpharius knew Terra and the palace better than Omegon having grown up there (assuming Head of the Hyrda wasn't a lie), so he would fit that mission profile better. The Primarch book tells you outright not to trust what is written and that records can be false.
@ashtonshephard3852 you can identify Omegon by his personality, being less compassionate than Alpharius, who got time to live amongst humans and the Pale Spear, which he had since start and used against Dorne.

He kills Onegon, only to have the THIRD head of the Hydra to slither out of the Shadows.
I think its hinted that omegon (Who is actually alpharius if you read head of the hydra) was never killed during the scouring, The key piece of evidence i'd suggest being that after he supposedly died the Alpha legion without a primarch leading them pummeled the ultramarines so bad that they had to leave the planet and just bomb it from orbit, While you could say that the alpha legion might not shatter, numerous heads of the hydra flexible command structure etc, I dont think anyone other than Alpharius could give guiliman a run for his money in terms of strategy and tactics like that, i think this is further supported by how the situation turned out when during the 41'st millenium Roboute took over command from marneus calgar and turned the entire battlefield upside down within hours.

What if Omegon and Gulliman reached an accord? What if Omegon reached out to Gulliman like Alpharius did with Dorn. But instead of it getting him killed, he and Gulliman spoke and decided neither of them had to die.

Its Alpharius.......Omagon supposedly died fighting Dorn. Alpharius is the Emporers contingency plan, it supersedes anything Guilliman wants. Guilliman couldn't kill Alpharius anyways.
I think Omegon is alive for one single simple reason: his name. Alpharius > Alpha. Omegon > omega. The beginning and the end. He will have a role in the upcoming 42k apocalypse.
Also if guilliman killed him, Omegon would've a pointless primarch, it wouldn't make sense
The Emporer was never the most forthcoming being. The Alpha Legion represents mysteries that would drive a mortal mad! The Alpha Legion joined an alien kabal set on humanities destruction! Alpharion & Omegon are quite the enigma, always looking outside the box. But, the twins represent something paradoxical. The beginning & ending. That asside, The Alpha Legion were the most closed and security conscious (paranoid?) Here is a thing, ordinary Alpha Legionaires thinking they are one of the twin Primarchs. Thing of the Legion's badge, The Hydra. Cut off the head & 5 more will take it's place! Who is to say if Omegon gets it?

Omegon should be Omegone by the hand of Rowboat Girlman. It is the best story option. If not the next best is to have the epmpra stop Reboot Gullibleman from killing him. Omegon survives is just bad for everyone. (Dorn = best. But he should also stay dead)
I think that, in true alpha legion fashion, it should be left ambiguous Omegon is dead or alive. Like Robute kills an Alpha leader, but can't truly be sure if that was the one he believed it was.
The aspect of mystery, of uncertainty, is why I personally don't like the Alpha Legion. Everything is true, nothing is true, everything can be retconned. Bleh.
Omegon should be killed, only to have the third primarch head of the hydra emerge. The Alpha legion triplets. I like your idea about the golden light visiting Omegon, perhaps even teleporting him away with Gulliman knowing it was their Father.
I think there should be the air of mystery about what happens, either Omegon escapes/no body found, or there's a third head. It's one of the things that makes 40k lore so treat, that you have this huge grey area. Like the missing Primarchs.

I'm fine with Guliman killing off Omegon on the condition that the Alpha legion primarchs aren't twins but in actuality tripletes. Would make a nice pay off on the three headed hydra
It think guilliman should stomp omigon into the ground like it was easy. Then we find out it was another alpha legionare impersonating omigon. Then omigon turns out to be alpharius cuz they switched places long ago.
If Rogal Dorn comes back then Omegon/Alpharius should as well to even put the Primarchs on both sides.
I think you made a wee mistake here bud, it's after the scouring the Dark Angels go home, not during. At least that was how the lore used to be, if that's changed I've missed it.
I think if it was shown as a fact that Guilliman killed Omegon, then much of 40k novels/lore would lose their joy and fun.
Didnt "Omegon" not explode like the other primarchs upon defeat? I think it was a "juice up someone and fade into the shadows.
Guilliman sparing Omegon after a fight monolouge where he wins would be more in tune with his story development.

Can I mention AGAIN how much I HATE Lion 'El Johnson beating Curze by TRICKING THE FUTURE!!!???!? I cannot put in words forceful and angry enough how much I HATE that idea. It REEKS of painting yourself into a narrative corner.

Dorn slew Alpharius, and Guilliman slew Omegon. Case closed.
I just think the victory loses its epic flare when the alpha legion doubles down after Omegons death. But it depends how its written. But Guilliman going 10000 years and finally killing a traitor (besides that jobber Angron) it would be double epic lol. Especially if the Lion was there to see it.
I swear this video caused me deja vu.
Honestly, Gman should have a clear cut decisive victory over Omegon with no questions asked. So far he's had Lorgar dead to rights only for Angron to pop in and beat him, lost to Fulgrim, barely won a 2v1 with the Lion against Curze, barely squeaked by magnus with the help of Sisters of Silence and a whole host of guardians on Luna, and lost to Mortarion only to be saved by the Emperor. He's the only loyalist primarch without a straight up 1v1 win. Between that and the fact that I'm personally willing to sacrifice the entire alpha legion because they're definitely my least favorite legion overall (I can admit my biases).
@anirecapped. you're basically proving my point, despite a few of the smaller statements I'd disagree with. Guilliman has been overpowered and out matched in every 1v1, with the exception of Lorgar, but had his ultimate victory spoiled. He deserves better for all of the reasons you pointed out and more. It's rediculous that a primarch, any primarch, would be at such a disadvantage across the board. He's not shown as an incompetant fighter, he has the most primarch 1v1s that I'm aware of, I can't see any reason he doesn't deserve a legit win. Also, Dorn beat daemon Fulgrim 1v1, the Khan beat Morty 1v1, the lion snapped Curze's back 1v1, Russ had ascended Horus beaten 1v1, Sanguinius and the Lion beat Angron 1v1, I believe Vulkan beat Curze at one point (I'm pretty unfamiliar with Vulkan and the Salamanders). @@DTOMbillhilly He absolutely doesn't, Guilliman doesn't need to kill another primarch 1v1 to validate him, especially when his legion is already the most wanked out of the entire setting. If anything, having Omegon not die is the best from a story perspective, because we barely know him.
Also not sure Roboute is good enough to kill another primarch. Lorgar would probably best him

I wouldn’t be too sure that either primarch is dead. We all know the lore can be retconned at anytime. But if i had to guess, dorn killed a clone and guillimam took out alpharius. 😂.
Plus mortarion slew jaghatai first. Without the emperor’s intervention jaghatai would be dead and as we know mortarion is still alive. 💯

Yeah no. I dont agree that Guilliman DESERVES a victory over another Primarch. Him simply surviving is enough. Plus in 40k he gets victories over Magnus AND Mortarion. So no, I dont think he deserves to beat Omegon nor do I think it actually is, nor should be, Omagon who dies. There should be one of the twins out there. If Guilliman can return from the dead, then Omegon could trick Papa Smurf
