- Driving the big snow in downtown Boone NC and App State Campus. The Blizzard of '22 (Jan). The Honda Civic Turbo Sport Hatchback 2018, does great in this. This is the day after the heaviest of the snow, roads were nearly impassable because snowfall was faster than road crews could clear.
A friend of mine has a vacation house in Boone at the very top of a mountain, up a steep winding road that I would never dare to drive on during winter. When he hears that snow is coming, he makes the trip up from Charlotte to be in time for the storm. He loves snow and enjoys being snowed in.

ASU '72- students used to get the cafeteria trays and slide down the hill by the stadium- kinda hope that's still a thing
its so much different up there now,, its hard to say but almost like a ghost town compared to the earlier years.
I love the western N.C. mountains. I lived in Virginia for 20 years and loved watching the snowfall, but it sure was tricky driving in that stuff. After a moderate snowfall, and after the roads had been cleared, I was driving east on a divided 4 lane road with a ridge of snow between the two lanes. I changed lanes, and as the driven wheel hit the snow the car spun 360 degrees to again face the correct direction. It was quite a fright to see the faces of drivers behind me as my car spun through that arc. I developed a healthy respect for driving in such conditions.
