I fitted that rotor and a set of Galfer sintered pads to my 21 Sport Glide, only one rotor of course. Just reused the bolts with blue loctite as recommended by HD. To be honest I cannot feel much improvement in stopping power but the wave pattern looks sexy on the rotor. The Galfer disc rotor was noticeably lighter, so less unsprung weight is always good.
Probably since it’s still only 1 rotor. It would probably help you since it’s about a year old now anyway to do a brake flush. I know it sounds dumb since it’s not that old at all but even doing a brake flush on mine really helped the responsiveness and the overall performance.
i didn't even think about doing arp for the rotors. I did ARP for the calipers and front fender. I also bought the Engine, Primary / trans, and frame Feuling ARP kits for the bike too.
ARP is so much nicer & better quality!
16-24 ftlbs on the front disc bolts. rear are 30 to 45 ftlbs the rears on mine are 3/8-16x 1" or ARP 615-1000. the 7/16" is correct head diameter.
Ok
First thing I noticed is the exposed bare metal on the side of the wheel that used to be covered by the stock rotors. Had you gone with Lyndall rotors it still would have been hidden. Just some of my OCD coming out. :) ......... Commented halfway through the video and then you mentioned it yourself at the end. LOL
Lolol. Yeah, it bothers me. But honestly that part should have been coded the first time. And I did not think too much about it since I knew it was being covered by the stock rotors anyway. New wheels possibly in the future anyway lol
You need that Brembo master cylinder for the front it’s best upgrade and best overall improvement.. Stock master cylinders not so great
Yeah I’m sure the brembo helps a ton! New rotors and pads are a huge help by themselves though for sure
I'm on the fence about changing rotor bolts
For looks . I see the size u mentioned in video.
Has any drawbacks arrived from changing bolts.
Iv gotten a lot of nice info from your videos
Keep it up. Take care .
Glad to hear that man! Happy to help. And no draw backs at all. They’re better bolts structurally and they look better. Win win. No downfalls at all man
In your video you ordered 3 sets of ARP to install the rotors. In the touring bikes the fronts are 5/16 also but the rear rotor bolts are not 5/16 they are 3/8. Maybe check before you get ready to install rear. Great videos!
Yeah I’ve taken the rotors off for powder coat before….they’re all the same on these guys. Thanks though!
@@RidinDad I forgot that you had taken them apart for powder.
Of course!
@@RidinDad maybe they changed because my 21 is 3/8-16x 1" on the rear
Mayve
no blue behind the rotors? Whelp, time to put the other ones back on and send the new ones to me 🙂
Lolol. They do fit yours too!
Hey what's the headlight you got on there, dig it !
On my channel check out the build list playlist for this bike. I’ve had a few headlights. You can see a video for each one and the link to purchase is right in the description man
@@RidinDad right on thanks
👊🏻
That Brembo RCS master cylinder
Yeah I know that'll be a good upgrade too. The stock calipers and master are not terrible so for now this works pretty good for me
Can you use the OE brake pads from
Harley with galfer floating rotors
You can yes. However whenever you replace rotors you should replace pads. If you’re replacing pads there’s no reason to use the same oem pads when you can upgrade for around the same price anyway
@ ridin dad
Do your front rotors make a sound when applying brake? Mine sound like when u used to put a baseball card on your pedal bikes spokes every time I apply the front brake. I called galfer, and they say this is normal. Just air getting pushed through the holes... dk if I am buying that... let me know. Thanks
Mine do not. They make a slight friction type noice but not the noise you’re describing. If they feel ok I wouldn’t worry about it
I have that exact same sputtering noise with my new Galfer rotors … I can’t stand it .
@@bkaczy15 I hated it at first also, but I got used to it now. I don't really notice it anymore.
Which ones do you have
The real question is what is going on with those Christmas lights...
Lol it’s storage man. It’s my garage. I’m in Florida so no basement and too hot in the attic to store stuff. They’re essentially 3 different sized triangles with lights inside. They’re like 3 trees. Pretty cool. Me and the neighbors have them too
@@RidinDad Haha, I'm just messing with you. My wife still has a Christmas tree up downstairs 🤣
Those rotors looks nice! Will be interested in how they perform and the brake dust they create.
Several hundred miles on them so far and almost 0 noticeable brake dust. Wayyyy better than the prior setup! And they grab super good
Great video!! Is your intro song inspired by DMB?? sounds like it.
Thanks! And What is DMB?
@@RidinDad Dave Matthews Band
Ah gotchya. No it has nothing to do with them. It’s just an audio clip I found and me being dumb
👍
