  • The simple parcan has been revolutionised by LED technology. LED runs cool, uses a fraction of the power, has more controllability with colour changing, dimming and strobing available, and the LEDs last about 50 times as long as an incandescent par lamp. Sam sets up the Light Emotion LED parcan, via the push-button control panel, then addresses to DMX putting the simple P64LEDC controller and Led can through its paces. Sam's had over 20 years using audio and lighting equipment and is an expert in installation and production work. And he's a bit of a character!

so if you have 2 or more par cans that are daisy chained the colors will all be the same? I've tried different hookups (DMX addr the same and then different addresses, etc) but it seems that I can just use one color (or channel) at a time. thoughts?

DMX and XLR are not the same thing.

Correct. XLR may work most of the time as a DMX cable, but when it doesn't, it will be a pain to troubleshoot...

very true... but from my experience unless your running special lightning like a moving head fixture then regular xlr cable will do the job just fine.... both cables have 3 pin connections but the dmx cable has better shielding than the xlr cable ... but for just led par cans and wash lights the standard xlr cable will work fine
