Oh my God, You are an awesome God! Russ and Michael were probably my two favorite Christian voices growing up, and God has used them and their music in my daily life all these years since The Imperials and Gaithers and through their solo careers. For me to see and hear them together here in these videos is the best; it's really like a dream come true. Thank you Lynette for posting these videos of these two brothers. This single performance of "Why Me, Lord" is nothing short of amazing. I listen to it over and over, and it's a blessing to me every single time. Praise the LORD! Wow. They remain two of my favorite singers, and I am thankful for their testimonies of struggle and God's faithfulness. The Lord has truly helped them and us all. Thank You, Jesus! They are both gifted singers in their own rights…they are unique in their delivery. I think it is in the ears of the beholder whom is better of the two…Yes Michael is gifted in that he can hold his notes for longer. However, for me it is Russ who holds that upper leverage due to his ability to be diverse and can sing most styles of music. That voice I never get bored or tired listening to Russ especially in his younger days…Having said that I only recently heard Russ Taff songs towards the end of 2021 so I guess it is all new to me😊
2 greatest, talented, and most gifted lead singers of gospel rock, gospel blues, contemporary, southern, and inspirational gospel that have ever walked in shoe leather past, present, and probably for a long time!!! There have been a few that tried to be like them, but are not them!!!! You are looking at two legends singing together who in their prime were the Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods of gospel music!!! And though their age has caught up with them, and they can no longer hit the higher notes---because of their powerful testimonys of the hell they walked through, but still came out on the other side-- makes them even greater legends!!! I would rather hear them sing now at 70% of what they were vocally, because now, they are truly ANOINTED FOR MINISTRY MORE THAN EVER!!!! Michael at 54, and Russ at about 64 or so( Not sure about his age)-- but I'm sure the ANOINTING, TESTIMONY, SINCERETY, HUMILITY, A PURE HEART, AND PASSION ARE STRONGER THAN EVER!!!! --- I am 50, and they were my heros in gospel music! Russ made it cool to be a teenager and sing gospel music when he was with the Imperials. And Michael made it cool to sing southern gospel, when I first heard him in college in 1984-1985 with the singing Americans. When we heard live and alive in Ashland Kentucky, and later on the Black and White recording--- We were like, Who is this dude, and why is he singing southern gospel??? Lol!!!!! We were blown away!!!! We had never heard a gospel singer with that kind of power, range, control, passion, and was even a good looking guy who dressed cool!!!! HaHa!!! He and Russ both had the look, and knew how to dress!!! Ok, I'm done! Lol!!! These are all my opinions! We all have our favorites!!!! God bless you guys!!!!
I agree! It's through the tough times and perseverance that builds our character. I'd rather have anointing and compassion any day! Michael is my all time favorite singer! He may not can hit as high as he used to but he still has it for sure. I think he gets better and better!!!
There's alot of heart felt character in that room. Not just talent wise . . . but invested in personal pain and suffering. God keep using these guys to their dying day!!!!
