Why don't you go to Canada with Ryan to visit the surviving nuns and interview them. Show them what you have been doing. They may have stories to share and old photos and answers to many of your questions?
They were nuns, more likely in an advanced age, the chance that they had a secret trapped door somewhere in the chapel to hide things is far greater than them burring things in the garden. As they probably wanted to respect the items as well, or they were to great of a value and they took them with them not knowing that a previous sister did the actions to classify them.
I’m thinking it might be in the stairs. When Billy was under the stairs, it looks like they could have hidden it there in one of the steps. If I was elderly and going to hide something, that’s where I would hide it.
I love the way that door just decided to close on its own as you reached the top of the stairs. Perhaps you should try to make contact with the ghosts to see if they know where the nuns hid the booty 😊
Yes, quite possibly you’re correct. If they were not aware or understanding of their being listed they may indeed have taken them with them to their new home.
I agree. If the painting has been a protected item for all these years, the Nuns had to know that The chapel was probably the one place of the convent that wouldn't be messed with in renovating it over the years. Also have you noticed that the cross is sitting crooked or out of sorts?
I agree... most definitely in the chapel... probably where the alter was... is there a big cross ?? look behind it..often there are places carved out in the back on smaller ones (for last rites, etc) perhaps they did something similar here
I agree. They will never go and hide things in a far away place from the sachristy or the altar. Have a look behind the big marble place on the wall. Right underneath the statue of the Virgin. Other places could be inside double doors. Visiting the surviving nuns in Canada could be a greater idea and adventure. Why not?
I would suggest you notify the historical preservation authorities about the fact the items are missing and were not present when you took over the property. Just to CYA .
Now that you know that there should be these items on the premises, you should notify the authorities that they appear to be mostly missing and have been since you bought the convent. You also have hours of YT videos to back yourself up. I would not delay doing this. There may be a simple explanation for their disappearance. 🙂
I agree and perhaps the historical preservation authorities should question the previous owners since Billy did not purchase the convent directly from the nuns but from someone who purchased it and kept the convent for a few years before selling to Billy.
Me 4 lol maybe send them some you tube videos to show how you are bringing back to its original state. Might be more inclined to tell you if there is any hidden stuff 😁
I spent several years living with elderly Nuns, they would not have buried anything imo. They are too old and would not have taken the chance it being ruined. It would be somewhere like under the alter, inside a hidden cabinet, in a priest hole...when they took special pieces out for holidays, it was always wrapped in velvet, inside a nice box and clean looking. Good luck, this treasure hunt is exciting!
When Ryan showed pictures of the missing objects, they looked like altar vessels. I would concentrate my search around that area, and in the sacristy area. In an earlier video, didn’t you suspect that there might be a chamber beneath the altar area? If the objects were in fact vessels used on the altar, the nuns would have considered them to be sacred objects. For that reason, I don’t think they would have buried them outside, but hidden them in a protected area around the altar somewhere.
Additional thought. The hidden room that you discovered earlier is another good possibility. Thy searching there again when you get your new metal detector. There might be a space behind a wall or in the floor where they put the objects for safe keeping.
The retable, notice how it looks different "unusual" the item where deconsecrated, the nuns could no longer see them as scared. The law required them to remain which means that they had historical relevance, the crucifix and the chalices could be behind the flat are of the retable.
my two pence worth. I would definitely be in contact with Monument Historique about the fact that you do not seem to be able to locate these items, but you acknowledge and are clear that they are specifically listed in the building. ( identifying what you do have upfront)! I think you need to be very clear to the Govt about that ( I have a degree in historic conservation and am involved in heritage preservation to some degree in the UK) and at least make them aware at the earliest opportunity- I also own a non listed older home in France that I am restoring so I am aware of the differences in the countries' approaches to heritage). I also think that those that have suggested contacting prior nuns who may have lived there, are suggesting a really good idea.I had quite a few thoughts about where they could have been hidden from your video but realistically you are looking for a needle in a haystack at this point. My genuine suspicion is that it as at least every bit as likely that they were removed before you bought the place and taken " for the church". -entirely understandable, but you need to clear YOUR ownership of that asap w Monument Historique.
IMHO I think they are somewhere in the Chapel. The Holy Family Picture is still there and the nuns would think of them as possibly guarding the valuables. The altar is a very sacred place. When the masses were said in the extraordinary form in Latin the Priest would have his back to the congregation. Sometimes the altar was part of the wall with a little shelf so to speak Later a table type altar would have been used especially after Vatican II in the 1960s. My educated guess would be somewhere either under where the new altar was or a secret compartment in the wall where the old altar was. I’m sure the objects were blessed so I can’t imagine they were buried. They would have been treated very reverently. Just a thought. Can’t begin to tell you how much I enjoy your videos every day. God bless on your treasure hunt. ❤
Yes.. I am RC and that all changed in the Sixties with Vatican II I seem to remember. I was a child then. Then much of the liturgy was delivered different. It went from Mass being said in Church Latin to the language of the country the Mass was being said it and as you say the alters were then facing the congregation.. so they could see the host and venerate it.. the Body of Christ. When I was small we used to see a lot of the priest's backs. lol.
One of the treasures been a Chalice… This is Blessed and was used in the Chapel. Perhaps check in the Chapel for secret doors to a cupboard….or even in the confessional…somewhere there could be a tile that is separate to the flooring and there could be a hidden stairway under the Chapel or Confessional. I wouldn’t tear down the place and when you get the new metal detector I am sure it should be effective in these rooms. Praying you find these Treasures 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🌿🌹♥️🙏🏻 I am a Roman Catholic and was schooled here in South Africa by Irish Nuns in a Convent school. It is important that you find especially the Chalice as it is Sacred🙏🏻🌿🌹♥️✨🥰 Thank you Billy , Family and Friends..I enjoy your videos as they are so highly informative and entertaining 🌿🌹❤️ Love you All ♥️♥️♥️
It gives me the shivers when you’re in the convent on your own Billy 👻👻the spooky door again 😮. Hope the treasure turns up xxx❤❤❤thanks for a Sunday vlog 😃😃
I am so incredibly invested in this with you Billy! Not just the treasure hunt, but your projects as well. I know some day I am going to say “Crack On” and nobody here in Utah will know what the heck I mean.
Billy, you were brave going in some of the areas of the convent! It has been said, people hide things in “plain sight”. I wonder if any of the wooden floor boards were picked up, valuables hidden, and renailed. Over time, no one would notice removing nails even if they used the same nails to put the floor board back. You are right, as you renovate the convent you shall uncover those special treasures. See you tomorrow with the windows! (Were any saint statues left? Maybe underneath the statue, is where something can be hidden.)
My guess is there's a hidden panel behind the cupboard in the hidden room, also can you use the 3d walkthrough to map the building to find more voids in the structure like the hidden room
I’m a french canadian living in New Brunswick Canada. Here, the nuns are quite elderly and there’s almost none left. Many convents are now closed. The chapel items have all been returned to the archdiocese for safe keeping. Also, when a church closes or is sold or demolished for lack of fellowship, the sacred items are always returned to the archdiocese. I can’t see nuns burying items. I don’t believe they would have hidden them at the convent. My first guess would be « hidden » for safe keeping at the archdiocese, second guess would be in the sacristy room, third would be in the crypt. I’d be curious to know the dates that the chapel was desacrilized and the date that the items where listed as protected and the date the nuns left…what does that timeline look like? do those dates all make sense?
I would also be giving the relevant authorities a call and asking if the items were removed from the premises or where they are exactly so they can be placed into safe keeping. Just to protect ones backside if sometime down the track someone, from the heritage or other association, who wants to cause a fuss over missing items accuses Billy and co. of selling or getting rid of the items or just not looking after them properly while they are in his care. Declare them gone if they are so and remove the heartache and stress further down the track. They could also argue and say that Billy should of spoke up earlier about them being gone and make him liable. People can be nasty like that.
Wonderful to have a weekend video. Alone at the convent?? Well, the usual door did close. The convent that is "part of my family" -- my 3 late aunts & my livivng sister, all in the same order of nuns -- originated in France, moved to Canada. Some Sisters came to the US. My family members as above, all Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange [California, USA]. That order of sisters has a very long history. Used to be all nurses or teachers. Now every profession you can think of. Besides being very happy to discover The Pethericks, at the beginning of the convent reno, extra close to my heart because it is a former Roman Catholic convent in France. Blessings, Billy.
Your search for hidden artifacts reminds me of you and Edd at the caves of Chateau Lagorce near Bordeaux this summer. Looking forward to the arrival of the new windows and doors for the renovated kitchen project. Billy, I enjoyed your wild goose chase of hidden convent artifacts and hope they will be found and saved or put on display.
Such a curious riddle to solve, Billy. I applaud you for continuing to look around the place. So many nooks and crannies to explore. Would those wise old nuns have hidden those last treasures behind the wall of the altar thinking no one would dare risk their souls to cut into it? I also wonder if they would have left more clues or special instructions of where those last bits are stored with someone within the church administration and that person just forgot all about it? Anyway, great video. Looking forward to seeing those new windows and door installed. See you tomorrow!!! 💖
Billy…i was around nuns for a long time as a youth….there is no way that the nuns would go anywhere else but the chapel. The object that you are looking for are sacred and would only be hidden in the most sacred place of the convent…the chapel. Look around the alter underneath the floor or in a niche. Call it a gut feeling. Check the alter around the garden but that’s a long shot. I hope this helps….
Hi Billy, First, I love what you are doing to the Convent and what you have done with the Chateau! Great jobs! I really enjoy watching your videos and look forward to seeing each one. I am a Catholic priest in Michigan, USA. Being such, I want to tell you that what you are searching for - a Crucifix, an Ostensorium (Monstrance) and a Ciborium (Chalice with a cover) - are rather large objects anywhere from 20 to 30+ of centimeter highs! So, be aware of this as you search. You are looking for something large! Also, here in the USA, when a church or convent closes, precious things like these are sometimes passed along to neighboring churches and Catholic institutions. Sometimes also, the local diocese might take these things on too. So, you might want to check these places too. It would be a terrible shame if squatters or others absconded these things. In any case, please be sure to notify the authorities that you don’t know where these things are to make sure that you are not charged or at fault for the missing things. Again, love you, your family and you vlogs!
Billy, have you checked behind the cross above the portrait of the Holy Family. There seems to be a wide ledge or pocket up there. Also, use your metal detector along the raised platform where the alter stood and along the paneled walls. Check out the sacristry, too.
Any loose floor boards, stair treads, base boards, paneling in the chapel area? Are there any nuns that lived there still living to get in touch with? It also sounded like there is something hollow in the ground where you were digging outside the extention. Thanks for the extra video. Happy hunting!
Exciting search! Can’t wait to see new windows and doors. -But that door closing put me on high alert! Is that the same door that has closed before? Were you there alone?
We do not have a lot of nuns anymore in convent here in Canada. I have worked in a convent few years ago as an administrator. The vast majority are more than 85 years old now. The Congregations have sold most of these beautiful convents to entrepreneurs. They have kept the facades, done structures and rebuild some gorgeous and very expensive condos. It's very beautiful ❤️. You should see the prices ... 😮 At the turn of the last Century, those convents were the house of the poor's, now they are the condos of very wealthy people for most of them.
HI 👋 The color on the grout was a right decision. Tomorrow when you mope the floor, use longer shaft, long enough to your chin and work the mope like you are drawing number 8 this is better for your back 🙋🏻♀️ I can’t wait to see the kitchen finished 🌹🌸🇮🇸
Billy, when I was a young girl a wonderful anthropologist named Richard Leakey spoke at a local college. He spoke about his father Louis B Leakey saying offen time things hidden for protection where " hidden in plain sight" He said many times french resistance fighters used this to great sucess during WW2. Wondering if this could be helpful to you. Much sucess to your artifact search. Blessings forward.
Just an idea but have you looked up behind the listed painting in the chapel ? There is a sort of large arched niche above that painting. However given that there are spotlights up there you have doubtless looked there already. Wishing you every success with finding the lost treasure and with the project overall. Really admire your hard work and determination. A!so that you are providing opportunities and training to local people (Yanis).
My guess is that it is hidden inside the chapel, inside a hidden space under the floor or even inside a panel in the chapel. I doubt they would hid such precious items in a cellar or in a place that isn't as sacred as the chapel itself. I think they had to much respect for the items to do that. Hope you find it and can take care of it in a proper way.
Very exciting. Will the detector read through wood? My former convent had a hidden cabinet behind one of the panels of wood in the linen storage room, The walls were covered with cedar panels and I was installing a hook on one of the panels , I removed the shelving boards and started drilling a hole and the entire panel popped open, It was hinged like a secret door, unfortunately no treasure but a wonderful discovery.
Hi Billy, loving watching the renovation’s. Looking good. I worked in a Prison in Australia for many years, it was a prisoner of war during the 2nd world war. It was is a mansion and had a tower above the 2nd storey. After the war ended, they found a radio that the Germans had hidden in the top step of the tower which lead out to the viewing area. Maybe the Nuns have hidden things In stairs/ staircases. Also the prisoners would make false floors in the cupboards to hide things. Maybe there is another hidden room somewhere. Can’t wait to see if you find it and where you find it. Maybe look at getting a Minelab monster 1000, not sure what it would cost in France but they are $1000 AU. Good luck 🎉
Three ideas: 1) look where you always get the goose bumps from the "presence" you feel. 2) look behind the cross, behind the painting or under the altar stone plate - in any case in the chapel. 3) normally a female convent is "paired" with a male convent - try to find that out and then ask them - maybe they have the two items.
Err Billy were you aware that as you went up the stairs & you glanced to your left a door closed from being wide open? 3:11 ish. Was someone in there? If not I suggest you check that room out for your treasure.
I saw that too! The convent does seem to be haunted... Ooo. Billy & Ryan have searched every room available to them. I suspect that Billy is searching the unknown/uncommon areas that have not been searched before.
I believe that is the door that always closes, no open windows, no breeze. Billy used to stop & comment on it. Now I think he is accustomed to it!! Alone in the convent always a bit unsettling.
I would think these treasures would not leave the caple area. Maybe your metal detector😂could Be used on all that wall panels that maybe hiding a secret
Speaking as a member of a Catholic religious order I really don't think those items are in the convent any longer. They were registered because sometimes unfortunately items like this are stolen. I think the nuns would've taken them with them to Canada or given them to another religious community. It is important to remember that the objects were registered to the community not a specific building. For example, if my church is being renovated and it's a big enough renovation or they have to vacate the building all sacred objects are removed Or as a last resort they would've melted them down or bury them if they were damaged and no longer to be used. There is no way possible that nuns would leave sacred objects in a decommissioned convent it just wouldn't be done These objects are simply to sacred. That's the reason why they deconsecrated the chapel and destroyed the altar so it could never be used again for any purpose that was not sacred. I would definitely report to the relevant authorities that the objects are no longer there just for legal purposes. For the nuns to leave sacred objects would be completely against all protocols and it would be completely out of character.
I am an ex-catholic and now a Christian. If people would research the true history of the catholic “church” and study from a Bible version not corrupted by the antichrist Roman papacy and the Jesuits - they will come to know about the atrocities and abominations taking place for centuries within catholic “church” buildings especially convents, monasteries and cathedrals. There is nothing of monetary value left in that convent. Vatican City and the Jesuits would most certainly confiscate it before the convent land/building was sold to the public.
The wooden spiral staircase in the latest Bordeaux Life video might suit the chapel?? I think Ed said it was 3.50m floor to floor? Keep up the great work that you are doing! Looking forward to seeing a video of Simon’s Cottage with the completed roof!
Have you considered tapping around the walls in the chapel, especially the wood panel covered ones to see if their could be a pocket of sorts where they would have hid the religious valuables?
Good luck finding the hidden treasures. Like the idea of contacting the nuns in Canada to see if they could shed light on the hidden items. Thanks for sharing 😍😘
Billy, You have previously stated that the convent has been de-sanctified. This would indicate the Sisters left in an orderly fashion with no intention of returning. I think it unlikely they would have left anything of value behind.
If the artefacts were classified by the French government, the nuns had no authority to dispose of it. In France, religion is completely separated from government since the French Revolution.
The garden renovation could be another channel by itself with the amount of work to be done. There’s so much awesome content out there I can’t wait and am really looking forward to it!
Great video, it was a real treat i love a treasure hunt. If theres anything there, i feel that they will be in a wall somewhere. I know thats a huge area but thats my guess. Good luck Billy.😊🏴
I wonder if there's some space behind the paitings in the chapel. The paintings are protected by the state just like the hidden items. It's very unlikely that someone would ever steal the paintings. Too big, too high. So why not stash everything behind them and keep it all together? Oh, before I forget.. The closing door tric upstairs was amazing! Greetz, Mahdi
I think there is a fair chance that those three little tunnels were drains for a latrine. They look quite a bit like other roman drains I've seen. And please, pretty please, even though it's probably nothing, can we know what was in the boxes under the stairs? I'm so invested in the discovery aspects of this project it's a bit silly.
Yes! I agree. Might be under where the altar was. You are so funny Billy! You sigh rather deeply when you go into places like the basement. I don’t blame you!! God bless you all
Once the garden has been cleared, have you thought about using ground penetrating radar equipment? It might even work inside of the convent. Thank you for sharing.
During World War II, objects were hidden in wells, behind paneling and interior stone walls, as well as chimneys. Wooden stair cases that were paneled underneath were also used. I would use my metal detector on the wooden stairwells and paneling. Good luck! Very exciting!
Billy ! The Door at 3:11 when you came up the stairs your looked because you heard it but it closed without any visual assistance ❤ surely you saw it in the editing…….
I love a tour around the Convent. Definitely wouldn’t have gone down in that small space. I have said it before, but your office, Billy, keeps coming into my mind. I love a mystery, even if it is just a story. Makes you think where/why the story originated. Excited for tomorrow 😃
Hey Billy. With them being protected, along with the painting above where the alter used to be, can't help but wonder if they aren't hidden behind the painting up high. Or perhaps somewhere behind some of the paneling in the Chapel area. Or under a piece of the flooring in the Chapel. I just wouldn't think they would hide it too far from the actual Chapel.
By far my favorite videos are the ones where you take us places we've not seen. Where were some of those areas? I always wonder what might be behind the paneling in the chapel. Also wild extravagance - LIDAR for your garden!
They could be in a flood, ceiling, or wall cavity. You also have all of the out buildings and gardens. It will be interesting looking for them after all this time.
Find out which convent in Canada the nuns went to and call it to try to talk with one of the former nuns to ask where the things are, as they were not to be removed. It is worth a try. It will be amazing to see what "things" you find over the years of renovating. Thanks for sharing. God bless.
Go over the wall panels in the chapel with the metal detector, there could be an alcove hidden behind the panels and this would also save any unnecessary damage. What about the crypt as well.
Great vlog again Billy and in such temps! Found the metal detector then! Good idea. Try the new one in the attic in what was deemed by the ghost hunters as nun cells. The little badges on the doors have me wondering, I could be wrong but…. Now, regarding knocking holes in and around the Convent in order to find them. We know a man that can, Ryan. He’s pretty darn good at that! Lol. Stay well.
I know you have already done things like this, but I decided to see if AI could come up with a suggestion or two about where items might be hidden. In order of likelyhood, the AI suggested checking: 1) Cloister rooms, 2) the basement (my personal theory), 3) Attic, 4 Chapel, and 5) Library. The Chapel and Library seem really good ideas but I don't remember you ever describing an actual library. Anyway, love the work you are all doing and hope you have this quest accomplished. Very important to history. Best of luck and Crack On.
What about under the chapel? Wasn't it rumoured there was crypt underneath it at one time? Also the attic of the hospital next to the chapel, if there is access up there might be worth a look. Also the garage and apartment block, probably several attics up there.
Hi Billy, if the objects are or were sacred to the nuns, perhaps the Chapel would be the place the nuns may hide something. In there, they could have believed that would be the safest place. Love your videos.
Hiya Billy enjoyed watching, looking forward to seeing what may lurk around the next corner? Also understand your approach your not going to just punch in holes hither and fither. Take care southern Ontario Canada 🇨🇦🐝
Go back into the room with the square (or rectangular?) panels and make sure there is no hidden storage area behind one of those panels. Use the metal detector; it might speed up the process.
hello Billy, thought you was quite brave in going around in those dark places and spiders!! Agree with you, when you are going around renovating each room if there are any "secrets" you will find them!! Best wishes from Lincolnshire.
If you're going to search the garden, I would start with points of reference. ie: at the base of a statue, under one of the fruit trees, in the grotto, etc, etc. Whoever buried something would surely want to tell someone how to find it.
If the nuns did hide something, I believe they would have put it in the most sacred area which is the altar area. Check for false panels behind the niches where blessed and consecrated items would have been.
when you first did the video you found old reciepts and a bit of jewlry laying around on floors and shelves. That indicates something but i am not sure what it indicates.
If there is anything to find you will probably discover it in one of the hidden cupboards or cabinets when you least expect it. But, it was fun looking today. Thanks for sharing
Usually there's an Alter stone which is placed behind or below an Altar these are usually taken out when the Chapel closes. I would search there first.
Per old movies I’ve watched, as wide as the floorboards are, it seems like it would be easier to lift boards and nail back than to knock a hole in the wall and repair. And I realize that there would have to be a void between floors to accommodate what ever they would hide.
It was a wonderful hunt!!! ❤ Those 3 covered drain like spots were interesting! Thank you all for making and sharing this beautiful episode! Loved the journey!😊❤
The chapel seems like the logical place. How about under or behind the altar platform. It also seems like some of the wall panels could have secret hidey holes. Also, in America they typically bury significant people under the chapel/church floor. Good Luck sleuthing! Sipping a bourbon, in Kentucky, while watching the search.😊🥃
Billy really enjoyed your search and you are the perfect person to renovate these buildings with Gwens input of course and can’t wait to see the windows and door Thankyou 😀🙏🥰
If all the Nuns were elderly it is unlikely they would have hidden them in a difficult place. As the items were sacred to them you might concentrate on the chapel area.
The nuns might have avoided any hint of desecration and placed them within the alter base or behind. Beautiful door. The convent is a proper canvas for such craftsmanship. They are to be commended--and you for entrusting them.
Hi Billy so exciting! Why don’t you invite some metal detectors to come and search with you for a weekend. Si finds is a mud lark and metal detector. I am sure he and his friends would love something like this. He has a You tube channel if you want to contact him. Xx
I would be doing exactly the same thing you are Billy…I couldn’t resist the lure of hidden artefacts in a place like that…no doubt you will find interesting things along the way. Simon will miss the metal detecting, he gets a gleam in his eye when a puzzle or mystery presents itself. Very moody lighting as you peeked about in the Convent. The stairs supposedly under the confession booth might be a good starting place inside.🖤🇨🇦 9:53
Here in the US during the civil war, people hid their treasure inside the walls, inside banisters, stairs and barn floors.(where animals were kept). Also in wells. My gut feeling is they would have chosen inside the chapel. But, if it wasnt that big of a secret, then it may have already been found.
Billy, If what they hid was of value I drought they would put it some place it would get wet. I think as you work on the different rooms you will find a little cubby hole and they will be inside. Good luck finding they and I hope it is sooner rather than later.
Check all the stairs, some older architecture had 2-3 stair runs which lift up exposing a secret compartment to hide valuables from potential invaders.
Why don't you go to Canada with Ryan to visit the surviving nuns and interview them. Show them what you have been doing. They may have stories to share and old photos and answers to many of your questions?
Exactly my line of thinking…maybe someone left a record of the convent up with those they merged with.
Or more ideas on what other orders did with previous artifacts. I think this this is a great idea!
Great idea! Like it!
Ryan had pics of the three items right? I'd find out if they are in Canada!
Oh get a Canadian to do it for them. I’m in Ontario, I know people in Québec. Canada is a huge place we would have to narrow it down to an area.
Perhaps you should try to make contact with the ghosts to see if they know where the nuns hid the booty 😊
.... what I ment to write down to @@rjborremans4033
I think anything hidden in the convent would be underneath the alter in the chapel, they would keep it in the most sacred place.🙂
I agree... most definitely in the chapel... probably where the alter was... is there a big cross ?? look behind it..often there are places carved out in the back on smaller ones (for last rites, etc) perhaps they did something similar here
There might be something behind the altar where it looks like it was walled up. There might be an original apse behind with the artifacts.
Exactly , as that wall behind the alter is listed they knew it wouldn’t be removed.
I agree. I think in the chapel somewhere.
That's what I was thinking, too.
Now that you know that there should be these items on the premises, you should notify the authorities that they appear to be mostly missing and have been since you bought the convent. You also have hours of YT videos to back yourself up. I would not delay doing this. There may be a simple explanation for their disappearance. 🙂
Could be the protected items are in the crypt.
I agree and perhaps the historical preservation authorities should question the previous owners since Billy did not purchase the convent directly from the nuns but from someone who purchased it and kept the convent for a few years before selling to Billy.
Agreed
A treasure hunt! Exciting. If you don’t find them you could always reach out to the Quebec church. There may be a sister still living who would know.
Me 3 😊
Me 4 lol maybe send them some you tube videos to show how you are bringing back to its original state. Might be more inclined to tell you if there is any hidden stuff 😁
Be sure Silly Ryan is with you on the interviews. It will be copyright material.
Good idea!
Bon idée!
I agree with you. They must be inside the building somewhere.
That was exactly my first thought, and then I thought, "crypt," as it's under the alter area
That's what I said!!😁🍻 or the Grotto...🤔
The retable, notice how it looks different "unusual" the item where deconsecrated, the nuns could no longer see them as scared. The law required them to remain which means that they had historical relevance, the crucifix and the chalices could be behind the flat are of the retable.
@@michaeljhirz yeah, I wondered that also...I may ask a rather knowledgeable friend about this.🤔😁🍻
my two pence worth.
Praying you find these Treasures 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🌿🌹♥️🙏🏻
I am a Roman Catholic and was schooled here in South Africa by Irish Nuns in a Convent school.
It is important that you find especially the Chalice as it is Sacred🙏🏻🌿🌹♥️✨🥰
Thank you Billy , Family and Friends..I enjoy your videos as they are so highly informative and entertaining 🌿🌹❤️
Love you All ♥️♥️♥️
It gives me the shivers when you’re in the convent on your own Billy 👻👻the spooky door again 😮.
I will! I too am watching from Utah. Ha! “Crack On” will become a secret code for those of us addicted to watching this channel. 😆
@@felicagriswold7276 I’m in!
I wear my Crack On cap and people wonder why. It is our secret 😀
Me too! We should have a viewing party! Crack on!
I am in Maryland and I too am invested in this. Crack on has become a favorite saying in my home. Lol
A Sunday visit to the convent with Billy! What a treat ❤
Omg the door did. close on its own! Right before Billy looked the the left! How fabulous! Great video! Hugs ❤
Have you checked all the panels in the chapel? Maybe there are hidden spaces behind them
I was thinking the same. I don't think buried as that feels disrespectful to those kinds of items.
Metal detecting and treasure hunting - not much can beat that. Can’t wait for more searching.
My thoughts as well!
Check out "dead spaces": forgotten knooks and crannies leftover when the convent was built.
My first thought was the crypt.but the archdiocese is a good second.
That is in fact the practice
The chapel has been abandoned and secularized. It and the altar are no longer sacred places. The initial premise fails.
I hope you are able to bring the garden back. Fruit trees and all.
Beautiful videography, music & editing, Billy. I hope you will have volunteers for both garden clean up/restoration & metal detecting!
Hi Billy,
First, I love what you are doing to the Convent and what you have done with the Chateau!
Just to clarify - The items you describe would not be left in a non-consecrated space under any circumstances.
Just to clarify - the sacred items you describe would not reside in a non-consecrated space.
Billy, have you checked behind the cross above the portrait of the Holy Family. There seems to be a wide ledge or pocket up there. Also, use your metal detector along the raised platform where the alter stood and along the paneled walls. Check out the sacristry, too.
Cool! An ongoing treasure hunt as it were. Looking forward to the window and door installations. See you tomorrow! 💚
Any loose floor boards, stair treads, base boards, paneling in the chapel area? Are there any nuns that lived there still living to get in touch with? It also sounded like there is something hollow in the ground where you were digging outside the extention. Thanks for the extra video. Happy hunting!
Ask the archdiocese. Maybe they know if the treasures might have been left with them for safekeeping
This makes a lot of sense, as the Roman Catholic Church keeps excellent records of pretty much everything.
Not a good idea!
@@sarahwyss7374why?
I agree, I bet the archdiocese has them and on
Y didn’t take the painting because of the size and difficulty in removal.
And then the paperwork was never updated.
Exciting search! Can’t wait to see new windows and doors.
-But that door closing put me on high alert! Is that the same door that has closed before? Were you there alone?
You are much braver than I am Billy! There's no way I would be searching around the dark convent by myself! Good luck on your mission!
So many. Churches closing , sad .These churches had been built by those who believed in Christ the Savour ..
Thanks for the tour. Cool to see around the convent
I think he edited the video since Alex is off, so he probably saw it.
Maybe your metal detector😂could
Be used on all that wall panels that maybe hiding a secret
I believe it would be near the chapel. ✝️
I agree. Simple call the convent in Canada.
Thank you for adding this. I thought this might be the case.
Billy,
You have previously stated that the convent has been de-sanctified. This would indicate the Sisters left in an orderly fashion with no intention of returning. I think it unlikely they would have left anything of value behind.
Yes , most likely they gave them up to a Priest..
Could the treasures have been left with their local motherhouse?
It's never ending nook and cranny places. Love seeing that. Keep up the searches. 🤞👍
During World War II, objects were hidden in wells, behind paneling and interior stone walls, as well as chimneys. Wooden stair cases that were paneled underneath were also used. I would use my metal detector on the wooden stairwells and paneling. Good luck! Very exciting!
Yes in the alter, maybe behind or niche, but they may be disguised as other things🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
There have to be hidden compartments in the chapel for those things. They likely weren’t taken to far from that location.
That place is endless! I’ve been watching for a year now, and I’m still seeing new corridors and spaces.
Very exciting excavation / restoration projects. The garden bits are my favorite.
You should look in the church where the floor sounds hollow near the altar. There must be a room underneath.
Doors, windows & transom fabulous!!
What about under the chapel? Wasn't it rumoured there was crypt underneath it at one time? Also the attic of the hospital next to the chapel, if there is access up there might be worth a look. Also the garage and apartment block, probably several attics up there.
Fascinating! I'm still thinking somewhere in the vicinity of the altar. Bonne Chance!
Hi Billy, if the objects are or were sacred to the nuns, perhaps the Chapel would be the place the nuns may hide something. In there, they could have believed that would be the safest place. Love your videos.
I thought the same
Hiya Billy enjoyed watching, looking forward to seeing what may lurk around the next corner? Also understand your approach your not going to just punch in holes hither and fither. Take care southern Ontario Canada 🇨🇦🐝
Did anyone else notice that door close by itself when Billy was going up the stairs😮😱👻
Yes , very curious as I doubt a window was open in that room . What room was it ?perhaps it's a hint that the items are in that room ?
Yes I Saw it 🙃
Yes I did
And when it c loses the hair on my neck stood up
Yes!!! I had to remind and play again. Creepy part of the Convent. I would be looking for loose floor boards.
The convent is so beautiful and impressive! I love watching it come back alive.
Oh Billy nuns were always so crafty. I would guess around the church 😅 ❤
The chapel would be my best guess. They were Holy items & revered🙏🏻🐾McMinnville, Or
Per old movies I’ve watched, as wide as the floorboards are, it seems like it would be easier to lift boards and nail back than to knock a hole in the wall and repair. And I realize that there would have to be a void between floors to accommodate what ever they would hide.
It was a wonderful hunt!!! ❤ Those 3 covered drain like spots were interesting! Thank you all for making and sharing this beautiful episode! Loved the journey!😊❤
I don't think such holy items would have been buried to degrade, but rather behind some secret false wall/drawer etc. fun to look.
Hello Billy have you ever thought about trying Wallabot or something like it to see inside the walls.
Can you contact Canada in case any elderly Nuns are still alive or even if not they might have told fellow Nun's in Canada
You made a noble effort today, Billy. I will be exciting to see the windows and doors arrive. It will look amazing. 💕
I agree that they most likely in the chapel. I would also look up inside the fireplaces.
